as above the hub nut is something like 125nm, need the wheels very securely chocked to loosen. i actually loosened mine with the front wheels on ramps, but with a length of wood chocked between floor and wheel strut to ensure they didn't turn, the hu nut thread is strandard. you can't dismantle the hub or remove the drive shafts without removing the hub nut, but bear in mind as soon as you remove the drive shafts its a new hub bearing and CV gaitor, and you'll need a hydraulic press to push the new bearing in.

start with the basics, are the cams and the dizzy time up right? kr gasket should be fine btw.

very stealth mate, like it. welcome along too.

excellent, hope the good news continues!
-
oh crappo :( that doesn't look good, gutted for you.
-
not checked this thread in a while, so its great to see you getting stuck in again. reassuring to see your brake lines still looking pretty fresh too, in spite of it being stood for a while. looks like you're going to get acquainted with a welder!

nice purchase Graeme, look forward to seeing this one develop.

For sale section in need of a tidy up
aide replied to Portent's topic in Site Comments and Questions
that's great news, thanks to you Jim and the other mods for agreeing in spite of the ballache it causes you, it definitely adds a dimension to the classifieds which doesn't exist on other sites. i'm looking forward to browsing already :) -
on this vr, and since i got it two years ago £4,005.44 exactly - i'm a saddo that keeps a list too! i'm fairly pleased with that, although it excludes tools, but then they keep 3rd party labour costs down is what i tell myself.

I thought there was a guy in Slovakia or somewhere in Baltic region on here that created one also Alex, I'll see if I can find the link as I commented on his thread maybe last year or so.
-
Yes it is, thanks for making my point! And with reference to this; Internet pedantry is pretty lame

Agree with others, not a sports car and not the classic shape of one either, i think the designation rides a lot more on looks than feel/ performance. Always a coupe in my eyes, its too small for grand tourer, and its competetors were almost exclusively coupes also - prelude, integra, calibra etc - this is how it was received by the motoring press of the time.

a for sale thread generating a lot of discussion! bring back the classifieds system.....?
-
good job, get your members thread started!

lol you deserters all come back eventually :) welcome home. -
could look well with a retrim, electric as well. in case anyones wondering what they look like retrimmed with recaro black cloth, here's mine just back from the trimmer.

approaches vary, having done quite a lot over the last year this is mine; drill and rotary wire for underseal removal, use a copper wire instead of steel as its less harsh. take the rust back to bear metal and then i've been using vactan to treat, look it up, gets good reviews. then do a primer coat, then apply the rubberised coating that sets - 3M do one or as above. if you so wish you can then paint, most the rubbery stuff is grey. if you want to do belt and braces you can then apply a waxoyl or rubberised shulz that remains gooey. one thing you need to test is product interface of new/ new or new/ old, some can react with each other.

welcome along Tristan, keep us posted on purchase.

ah man sorry to read that, what is it with these mindless idiots.

just very carefully slice the metal crimp that compresses the rubber pipe to the plastic then peel it open - its only a compression seal, then replace the rubber pipe - wit iirc 7mm - fuel pipe from halfords using a proper fuel clamp fixing which compresses evenly. i replaced all my fuel pipes this way, no leaks and peace of mind.
-
do a google search for it, but don't believe the hype! just remove it and replace the pipe.
-
that's the first and last time i'll ever get one over you james

yeh location doesn't make sense to me, but defo an ecotek!
-
that 3rd pic is of an ekotek valve, probably one of the most successful 'go quicker gismo' scams ever - remove it asap, as the reasoning is horse****! from memory of their spiel, anything over 2ltr will require two of them to be fitted, having only one fitted to a 2.9 will cause the valve to be sucked open permenantly - allowing unmetered air into the engine cycle all the time - hence major idle issue!
