I think you have to take into consideration that this isn't touring cars where the drivers are protected by a bodyshell and roll cage. Its open wheeled single seater racing that can turn nasty if people start making unnecessary contact (see Bruno Senna's crash at Snetterton when he was racing F3). I think you've ignored the fact that Ayrton Senna made some very dangerous moves when he was racing, he was good but he's no angel by any means. F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport, its not only about driver ability (although its a big part of it), its about the complete package from the cars, perssonel, technology, pitstops and strategies etc. There is an unwritten rule in F1 which is basically if you're not over half a cars length alongside the car in front at the apex then its most likely to be considered causing an avoidable accident.

Halfords one with a DA isn't too bad

Did Algesuari get a pen for riding up the back of Lewis? Surely thats causing an avoidable accident? And Petrov needs to man up!

Hello everyone, Can anyone confirm to me the colour of LED illumination of a late headlight switch. I know theres an amber and green LED inside, but my amber LED doesn't seem to be doing much at the moment. Here's how my LED's are lighting up... Lights off - Nothing Sidelights - Green Ring Dipped beam - Nothing I used to have the light icon lit up in amber before in all 3 positions but now thats gone and the ring has never lit up in the off and dipped beam positions.

I think the Type-R Honda's have been unfairly grouped with the rest of the range as being soul-less. They have cracking high revving engines and super quick and sharp gearchanges. I had an EP3 before the VR and if anything I'd say the EP3 was more alive and had a bit more character than the VR, more of a little livewire terrier if you like!

Agree DRS is a bit artificial and gimmicky

I thought Vettel was extremely lucky that the safety cars came out when they did. First time round it completely ruined Button's race strategy (which no doubt would have given him the win) and then had the race not been stopped, Alonso would have definitely made a move before the end of the race. Another turn of good fortune for Vettel was the red flag in Q3 when it looked like either of the McLarens (especially Lewis) would have mounted a serious challenge for pole. As it stands, I'm still unsure about Vettel as champion. Sure he's walking away with the lead this season, but last season he was in the best car by a country mile and never actually led the championship once. Alonso, in a much slower Ferrari and the McLarens pushed him to the finishing line and thats with him being favoured over Mark Webber within the team as well. Red Bull and Mark Webber would have sealed the Championships well before the end of the season if they hadn't been so biased towards Vettel.

I think they were longer on the later cars hence the higher ride height of the later cars

Same here, took me forever to sell my 3-series, was an E46 318 (facelifted with newer 2.0 engine) and was even the supposedly much more desirable M-sport model.

You going to GTI International by any chance? If so then I'll take the splitter

The problem with the scrappage scheme is that everyone who was probably looking into buying a car over the last few years did it all at once in a 1-2 year period. So there was a massive spike in car sales a couple of years ago and now theres a massive slow down period because everyone who would have bought a new car now did so last year. Another factor is that the majority of those people who traded in their 'bangers' obviously keep their cars for a while, so now they have they brand new cars which they'll probably keep for another 5-10 hence, no new car sales during that period. The scrappage scheme was such a short sighted solution, it was never going to build up any long term momentum in the automotive market, people just don't have the budget for new cars every 1-2 years anymore. I also think that the automotive industry just didn't react to the financial situation quick enough, cars have been getting more and more expensive for years now (an entry level Golf is nearly £20k?!) and they aren't bringing out cars in £6k-£9k gap that cars like Fiesta and Polo have left. The 107/C1/Aygo is the perfect example of capturing the cultural zeitgeist of downsizing and profiting from this market. The notion of status is definitely shifting away from sheer quantity of possessions to quality of possessions. and by quality of possessions I don't mean quality of materials or craftmanship, but more about how it represents the owner as being more conscious of the environment and the world financial crisis, so in this instance I guess quality is represented by intelligence. Rant Over! Back to the topic of vwchick selling her car!

Its all that porn history clogging up your browsers!

The "undercut" on the new Pirelli tyres is the reverse of what we used to see on the Bridgestones. Fresh tyres are now way quicker than used ones so after his pitstop, Vettel would have been quicker than Hamilton. The only way for Hamilton to undercut Vettel would have been to pit before Vettel. Pirelli's offer no value in staying out longer than the guy you're racing, which makes it so interesting this year, you can't just run and run until the other guy pits. It's more of a game of chicken now, who pits first will go faster on the fresh tyres, but will have to risk doing a longer stint on them and sacrifice pace towards the end of the stint for track position.

Why not rust it?

For me it was the two gold coloured bolts attached to the door itself that was the problem. Everytime the check strap snapped open it would shift the loose bolts side to side and make a cracking noise as it slams against the door. Tightend these two bolts and its been fine since

Black Corrado in Brompton, North Yorkshire. Lowered, black rear lights. I was couple cars behind in a Blackberry VR

Yep! When I had an E46, a lot of guys on the forum used to bang on about how they hated it, but its hardly even noticable really

Its just a thimble shaped, clear red light attached to the bottom of the mirror. Diameter about the same as a 10p coin I'd say ---------- Post added at 11:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:57 PM ---------- http://www.a1bmspares.com/parts_images/fullsize_02fae7bae27ac629baeecfd350063b05_E46_2.2_M54_Topaz_Blue_coupe_2001_048.jpg Thats it there ^

Because it's a quality bit of equipment. Anyone who's driven a 3-series at night will know just how good it is

438 mile road trip! Back in a Satin Silver VR6 - OEM & Recaro content...

Satin silvers always surprise me! If you ever want to sell those RX's then I'd be very interested. PM'd about that anyway -
I absolutely agree! I have the strips on mine and the crease above it looks like somebody has been shooting at my car! Both sides!

Thanks mate, I think I'll go ahead and replace the cable anyway as its not an expensive thing to replace. Where abouts is the pedal end of the cable? Is it on the inside or outside of the firewall? And how is it routed around the engine?
-
Haha, I know what you mean mate, although not on the same level as your M5 I came from an EP3 Civic Type-R so its a bit strange in the VR now!
-
Do you have any more info on the pedal box issue you're suspecting? I've just adjusted the throttle cable but it doesn't seem to have made any difference, still getting a slight delay from pressing the pedal to the throttle body opening/closing. I've taken it to a VW specialist and they reckon theres nothing wrong and thats the way its supposed to be but I'm not convinced.
