£15 a wheel?! Where from?
-
so did the Corrado become the classic it was predicted to be
nlau1 replied to Portent's topic in General Car Chat
I think the Beetle was obviously always going to be a difficult car to recreate (although BMW managed with the Mini) because the Beetle "Brand" was built on one single incarnation of the car. The M3 "Brand" on the other hand has been built over 4 generations of very good cars which have been very popular. The Corrado has neither. It doesn't really have a strong brand identity which is why I think it'll always be an enthusiasts classic rather than a mainstream iconic classic. -

I'm with Purple Tom, the lack of a successor until the current Rocco hasn't helped. The difference between the Corrado and the M3 is that the M3 has now become a living legend, through various incarnations and the E30 is seen as the original where the legend started etc. Also, I don't think the new Rocco coming back has helped either, if they'd called it a Corrado and continued with the Corrado "brand" then maybe our Corrado's would have been more desirable. I also don't believe it'll become that much of a classic, not to E30 M3 or even TT standards simply because it was so unpopular with the general public, I mean 90% of the people out there don't know what it is! Whereas a mk1 TT will always be recognisable and always be desirable because of the positive connotations. -
The huuuge list of problems with a Corrado would mean Mike Brewer and his trusty mechanic Ed won't make any money on it!! :D

Or simply buy a can of de-icer for a few quid?!
-
I'll be keeping the flambe trick in mind for the winter! :D

Absolutely Bullfinch. Great find. The most fun I've had is in my old Civic Type-R (EP3). The modest torque output meant you had to work the nuts off it to get the most out of the car, was great fun and I still miss it now!!

Blimey, that must be a quick one! :D

Stopped by police for being too low....

Did you get a name or anything like a number or anything? -
VW didn't originally include the Corrado in their Heritage Timeline until a number of emails from forum members, including myself, asking why it wasn't present! Shortly after that it appeared. http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/volkswagen- ... e/timeline[/quote:1dbwa61o] Good work Mr.ots! And others who emailed! :salute:

My VR takes a while to come down, how long before your oil/water gets up to temperature?
-
Does it mention any of the models that aren't for sale in there current range? I don't see why they'd mention anything they're not selling

For the standard dipped beam you need H4 Hi/Lo. Thats the bulb fitment. When it comes to HID's you can choose from colour temperatures as well. Basically the lower the Kelvin rating the more yellow the light, and the higher the rating the bluer the light. Most OEM HID's (Merc, BMW's etc) are 4300k. 4300k also happens to give off the most light hence brighter lights. 6000k is very popular amongst aftermarket HID's fitted. Be aware though that technically, HID's are illegal unless fitted with headlight washers and unless you use them with prjector headlights (standard Corrado headlights are reflectors) then the beam pattern of the light will be scattered in such a way that it will probably blind oncoming traffic! Whereas a projector headlight will focus the light better. Hope this helps, if you want brighter lights, I'd advise going for the uprated headlight loom, save yourself some nerves at MOT time!

If you ever want to swap your splitter for a 50mm then let me know!

Yeah mate i wouldn't sell either. Even when you've done another 30k in it its still really low miles!! You make me sick :D Haha, it was my dads car until I bought it from him last month and he bought it as an ex-demonstrator. It was a weekend car for him hence the low miles but it'll be much more of a daily driver for me so the miles will be going on for the next couple of years at least. I have to say though, I have great admiration for the 100k+ guys on here!! :notworthy: Some of the numbers mentioned in the "Who's C has the highest mileage" thread demand respect!!

Interesting info there Critical Mass, at least I have a ballpark figure now if and when the insurance company does ask. Newbridge, I'm not looking to sell so the leather isn't a priority for me but thanks for the input anyway!
-
Yeah completely standard. Thanks for the help guys. At least this'll give me a ballpark figure of about £4k! What would I do without this forum eh! :salute:

Hi guys! Don't worry, not looking to sell! Just wanted to know for the insurance as the renewal is next week! Well, its a Blackberry VR6 on a 95 N plate with 41,000 on the clock. 2 Registered previous owners. Cloth interior, manual. Apart from a couple of dings in the door the bodywork is in mint condition, no rust etc. All drivetrain and engine are running sweet. Full service history from VW and VAG Specialist. Thanks in advance boys and girls! :salute:

It's really difficult to tell, especially depends on the light and the white balance setting on the camera! But to the naked eye, I'd say more purple. But in terms of purple its definitely closer to Pink than Blue on the spectrum!

So managed to get the wing mirror gaskets changed today, was a door card off jobbie which was a bit of a pain but if you know how to get the door cards off then its a 30 minute job for both sides! Makes a big difference as the old pieces were falling apart! They were £6 a piece from VW. Before After I also had a chance to sort out the moss that was festering on the inside of the rubber trim on the passenger door, it looked disgusting from the inside of the car and almost every passenger notices it! Before After

Mk2 Golf ones from VW fit with a bit of modification.

Thanks for all the compliments guys, just nipped out to VW and picked up a couple of new rubber/plastic gaskets that sit under the wing mirrors. It'll be a door car off jobbie to disconnect the wiring for the mirrors so I'll update on the weekend when I get it done, weather permitting of course!
