  1. Good thought- thanks- I'll sus out tonight
  2. Yep- now I can see over all the hedges and look down on freelanders :D Ok- I admit it's a bit high, but the ride quality is superb and it flows through twisty uneven roads without a care in the world- so yes, happy days. I'll live with this for the winter and once I've dealt with other bits, might consider a slight drop in spring height. Meantime I can beat any sports car in the planet over a set of speed humps  Good luck with the coilies!
  3. Corozin- not upset, honest- still laughing at myself at having exposed myself to exactly what you are talking about- there's just no saying what might get dragged up :) I'm just curious because the car clearly has some 'history'. Its obviously been painted (though to be fair, its a pretty good job). I'm happy enough that it has had no significant repairs, the underlying chassis being all in factory condition. I bought it with my eyes open- and was happy enough because I can see so many new parts already fitted that I will not now have to do- I've had cars before that 'never needed a thing' by the previous owner, that usually means the next owner has it all coming. The engine itself runs sweetly, almost top compression figures on all cylinders and uses no oil or water, so I am content that although it's not a top, low miles, one owner car, it is nonetheless a sound one. Hopefully once I've spent a few months on it, it will be a fine machine for anyones money. And the last laugh on the paint- when you look at a little stonechip on the front wing thats down to the metal- the overall paint thickness is impressive
  4. Yep- bittersweet all the way :brickwall:
  5. Discs are almost new, but I'm going to check tomorrow night if spring clips are in place- think you might be right about that
  6. Yep- know what you mean, but it's not that- discs well used and bright. No sound in forward motion- only in reverse.
  7. Look, Sesame Street man- these wheels are not dubious :bad-words: They're wheels and they've got rubber and they're round. And- it's nine owners including me- this car knows more about the world than you've had hot puppets..dinners. Just you get back to the Street and practise your spelling
  8. When reversing, brakes not depressed at all, I get a fairly loud droning from rear brakes. Lightly holding on the handbrake stops it, let go and it returns. I guess its the calipers, but why? Handbrake seems to be properly adjusted, handle is neither high nor low. Any suggestions?
  9. With a photo like that, even furry dice would look good!
  10. Back in action- osf wishbone fitted- no more clunks. Instead just a never-ending rattle from the flippin exhaust that's now touching chassis above back axle. Tried to adjust but spars on exhaust too short to bend any more. So tomorrow its up on stands to try and lengthen mounts to lower pipe a little- didn't do it before- why now? Just to add to the joy, the dash suddenly squeaks and creaks like never before. It's out to get me!!
  11. Did I mention there was an envelope under the rear seats with over £6000 in used twenties?
  12. well could be, cos V5 says two colour changes and it sure is green now. Looks like checks always been green, so guess the black colour was a half-hearted attempt.... Havn't found any pink yet though :)
  13. Dooh! That's just it guys- they DON'T have 'em- therefore I want them Then, once I've fitted them, the next owner can smooth them off!- want to buy a Corrado?
  14. Title used to be 'Anyone know this Storm) but changed after some of the posts! 29122010570.jpg[/attachment:1p0zg8ne] I've got an 8 previous owner storm- currently N929 APU, previously J15 LMM (in 2003-2005). With so many previous owners, thought a good chance someone would know it- classic green, cream leather- Any info would be of interest! Well............if it was a total write off, fell down 2000foot ravine, chopped in half and reshelled in a cut/shut, maybe don't tell me :ignore: - go one- give it your best shot.....
  15. Thanks anyway for your trouble..............
  16. Good point- thanks. What I haven't found out yet is how to delay the headlamp washers as done on most cars with them- a short blast of the windscreen washers doesn't start them, but a long blast brings on the headlamp washers. Anyone know? Alternative is to wire them to the spare switch position below the foglight switches, but prefer them auto as above
  17. well- I want them... They're about as rare as Campaign models and there's not even a database of known ones :) I would like to fit them but 1) getting them takes a bit of doing and 2) the optional ones are not v smart at all- look a little like a tacked on afterthought. SO- I've decided to take a bash at it. I'll take off bumper and investigate the possibilities. Either integrate 'pop-up' ones a la' TT's or use discreet low level ones. Anyone got thoughts? I need the large bottle (there's some around), the extra pump (does loom have wiring there for this?), tubing and choice of jet system. On one hand I'm keen to keep the car OEM but on the other, the salty winter roads just love those flat headlamps and if we're honest- they aint too bright at the best of times 8) Be glad to hear anyone's input and I will, of course, do a guide for them as I go along (though if you see ' late bumper wanted' you'll know how it went......)
  18. They're 17 x 7.5's with ET46, so spacers 10mm front and 15mm rear, centre's fine. They've been drilled again to 5x100's to fit Corrado though. Still not rubbing after OEM fitted and fill arches fairly well and sit wide but flush with side of car
  19. Don't know- fitted by previous owner and other than being BBS I haven't been able to find them catalogued anywhere. They're super-light though (cast alloy) and delicate as a crystal chandelier- alloy lattice sticks out beyond line of rim slightly so one kerb=knackered! Good looking though
  20. Going to coachworks Friday night to spend some time on giving it a good clean up- alloys smart but need a little effort, I'll get it on ramp and tidy up exhaust- tends to sit a little off level at back so need to tweak the mounts. Quite taken with the idea of a matching leather dash- but that'll be a while yet. Also looked into Schrick inlet, but beginning to think that best part of a grand would be better put towards turbo or charger- still mulling that one over :)
  21. 29122010570.jpg[/attachment:17uu3j1z] I've had car a month or so and thought I should put pen to paper...em screen Its a VR6 classic green storm, cream leather, 135,000. I bought it from 'pebesit' then drove it 400 miles home- good chance to get a feel for car  It had a nasty starting problem, but found dodgy immobiliser connection and problem gone, so happy days. Car already fitted by previous owner new brake pipes, flex hoses, callipers, driveshafts, bearings, most bushes, Milltech exhaust (very nice sound :D ) It had a good looking set of H&R's but they had to go- on roads around here they'd break my teeth out and they're just not my thing, so standard OEM just been refitted and H&R's off to a good home. OSF wishbone has cuffed bush, so new wishbone on order- no point faffing around... I've now had time to give car a good going over and though lacking a little tlc (7 owners I think), its pretty sound with no accident damage to chassis and good bodywork- been painted in past, but no real problems to deal with. I've fitted few bits- cracked dash cowl, missing bonnet stay, missing VR6 engine cover, tool kit/jack. Stuck it on VAG.com and replaced MAF connections, ICV and crank sensor- engine now idles at 5-600rpm and happily revs its nuts off  . Ignition switch's been changed, sunroof A1 ok, ditto spoiler. Fixed broken spot weld on drivers window lower rail. Can't tell if matrix has been done- any way to see without full strip out?? It's a noisy blighter! (never had one before) so stripped out rear seats, trim and boot, dynamat to main areas/arches, closed cell foam over the lot fixed with carpet spray glue (easy to remove if needed) and refitted trim- big drop in road noise, extra weight maybe 1.5-2.0kg max. Immediate plans- Big detailing job plus refurb leather seats, leather to handbrake tunnel, then live with it a little while- then we'll see. The bonnet's not quite right- reckon leading edge been repaired. Not decided about the current debadged grill, still to make up mind about crystal rears. Have to say that the Forum is just tremendous- big thanks to all who've helped so far- no worries about long term maintanence of car with this kind of resource- well done chaps
  22. Yep- I'm interested in front mount for VR6- the VAG950M VR6 (fast road) if price good- current list less 15% I can already get locally so interested to see what someone might offer on GB
  23. Has everybody already got one of these? I've never noticed them mentioned anywhere before, but this CD is only £3.99 on Ebay, and it 'does what it says on the tin' er CD. Just got mine yesterday, took ages to load onto PC but in moments you can identify every single part on the car- V impressed. They claim there is no copyright infringement but I wouldn't like to take the test case :) Decide for yourself.... *Link removed*
  24. Degreased engine bay (quick attempt before dark), wrapped all the electrics in foil and gave it a once over, cleaned it off and started her up to dry- all going fine- then, when drying off water left on a hose, engine stopped dead. Started her up again, no problems, went back to same area and wiggled things, moved same hose, nothing happened- engine idling nicely. Then wiggled every connection everywhere- still no problem. :confused4: Aw crap- so is it only going to happen again when I'm 100 miles from home with no mobile signal? Vowed never to clean engine again. :bad-words:
