Don't understand- help me here- I thought that 15, 16, 17's with appropriate tyre size gave virtually identical overall diameter (a few mm)- so no difference in height?
-
I need the two spring clips that fit on the side of the ABS light to hold it into the dash. These are the same on the fogs, rear screen heater and leccy seats, so any old broken switch will do me so I can get these two springs- anyone?

on that happy note I'm off to cover them in a lifetime worth of grease........

Door pin adjustable? Hadn't looked yet but will now
-
Funny you should say that- did try, but no good. Maybe I should ram the handle up your ass and see if its better?
-
Ok- I thought I read somewhere already that the kit only fixed what was broken, but didn't make it open better or make handle 'tighter'. Yours better though?

Drivers door, with most wear, opens fine, but the 'feel' is terrible. the latch only opens at the very end of pulling the handle out and opens with a 'snap'. You just know it's going to give in eventually. What needs to be changed/adjusted to make it almost like new again?

Andy- I had H&R 'street' coilovers, including Bilsteins when I bought the car. They were rock hard, and lowered until tyres level with arches. I raised them to something like 30mm below OEM height and frankly, you couldn't really tell the difference in ride comfort - they just didn't bottom out so much. I then fitted OEM springs/OEM Boge shocks and apart from the height, the difference is frankly subtle. At speed, there's much more travel as you would expect and therefore pretty smooth ride. A little more roll, but little real difference at all until you push car near limit. Around town, OEM is only slightly better. I'd say that the biggest influence here is the damping rate. The springs are more firm than hard, but hit a pothole or rut and you really feel the impact. Over more undulating roads, it become obvious that the springs are reasonably pliant. I'm v interested to see how you get on with this because it sounds like you are trying to acheive the kind of spring/damper rate I'm after.

Count me out Beastie- I've picked up some unwanted ones meantime, but thanks anyway -
Good luck with the H & R site- it tells you sweet diddly, just pretty pictures

Looked at adjuster and although it is electrical, the red knob on the back is the manual adjustment so you don't actually need to swap it over for a 'manual' one, though you can if you want to. You have PM.......

HOW TO FIT RED ILLUMINATION SWITCHES
jimpy66 replied to C488ADO's topic in [Archive] Wiki Submissions & Collaboration
Heated rear windscreen and fog switches wired same way. Each led has a short and long wire connection. The 'short' wire from each led fits to the central common post on the switch (you'll notice that both existing bulbs are wired together to this one) and the other wire from each led goes to the opposite side post. Here's a wee sketch....... -
Went to check it out and found that it's recovered- working ok but with a louder 'click' than before- still need to open it up and investigate but got distracted by fitting new ultrabright led's to dash switches........

I got these with the car and hadn't paid any attention to it until now. It has a socket, so I can confirm that its an electrical adjuster. It mounts on to the casing the same way as the manual adjuster, so the casing is the same and you could swap yours over ok.

Pete- Here you go- I've just taken these. Rear screw missing on RHS, but fixing clip there and ok. Lhs complete with screw and ok. Glass lenses have minor surface chips as you would expect, but nothing major and no cracks. Cover cap missing on RHS but I assume you can cannibalise your own? If not, there's a forum member has offered me one.

All of a sudden, my boot doesn't unlock with the button. Normally it works with the central locking and press the button it should open. I thought maybe I'd left the button in the 'wrong' position, but whether I leave it horizontal or vertical, neither allows me to open it. I have to insert the key, turn it clockwise as far as it goes and push, then it opens. Without this, it just doesn't work. Any clues??

Sounds fine- I'll get a photo up next day or so to make sure this overimportant piece of plastic is the correct one..
