  1. Darren, John was replying to Furki's post about a retailer being able to help out with a GB package as requested in his post originally....and also offering more choices...... John (just my £1's worth)
  2. If you get the 'proper' Zymol or SWISSOL the results are superb. Sounds also like you were leaving it to dry on the car. You are meant to take it off before it dries, unlike AG SRP which you are meant to let dry, so that it goes dusty and gets everywhere. What shampoo did you use, and what did you use to buff the cleaner wax off with? If you take it off before it dries it is much easier to use and the results are better than AG SRP, which IMHO does not reveal the true colour of the car, but leaves a haze over it You pays the money.........it saves you time in the long run and the results are far superior. john.
  3. If anyone wants their charger rebuilt and ported/flowed by hand, then suggest you PM John Mitchell, 16vG60, and chat to him about this subject. Seen some nice Jabba ports............... :) john
  4. Also locate the fuse box, and carfully reach behind it and push in all the plugs. One of them might be loose causing the problems you have listed. John.
  5. ClubGTI Sussex Area Meet.... This Sunday 1pm- The Fox at Patching, Arundel Road (old A27), Patching, West Sussex. BN13 3UJ Map of How to find it? http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srfx= ... search.srf More details and directions are on the web site, URL below. Come along and have a chat! John.
  6. Can use the SWISSOL leather care products, they are quick to use and give an excellent result. Best to feed the seats at least once a year, but you should make sure that you clean them first with the companion cleaning products first. Also best to feed the seats when the seats are warm, like at the moments when the car has been sitting in the sun for a while, not when the seats are cold. John.
  7. Try GSF or Euro Car parts. Got mine from a friend who is no longer trading. Can't help you more than that. Try their online lists first. John.
  8. Meguires is like in between SWISSOL/ZYMOL and AutoGlym type stuff. You will get the best results by using clay, then cleaner fluid, then wax on top, as I stated above. Most of the TT forum and Scoobynet use these products and they have nothing but praise for them. If you would like more info then please PM me. John.
  9. Standard Knect Mk2 Pollen filter and the housing fits the Corrado. First time you need the kit with the new housing, then after that you just need the repacement pollen filter. Kit prefix: LAG19 Filter prefix: LA19 Check the part numbers though first, just in case I have got them wrong.... John.
  10. Sounds like you need the full treatment...clay, cleaner fluid then a good wax. That WILL bring the result that you require from your paintwork. The AG stuff while it is OK, does not deep clean the paint, and on some of the metallics, I have seen it on a met dark blue, there seems to be a haze left after the super resin polish has been used, which will not remov no matter how much of the stuff you use. With some of the Cleaner Fluid, the haze was remove straight away and the glossy paintwork revealed. Topped of with a good wax and there you have it. There a quite a few SWISSOL users on here, and I expect that they will let you know how they get on with the products. Let me know if you would like more info via a PM. Still to 10% discount for all forum users as before........ :D John.
  11. Perhaps someone else imported it to here, and now Andrew found it and is selling it. Sounds an interesting car though.... John.
  12. Each to their own combinations and it depends what you want and the finish that you are happy with. PTFE cleaners..never need to wax again.........! Be carful with the Zip Wax, as prolonged exposure to you clock bits will eventually turn them grey. Always used to on my old Polo and Mk1. John.
  13. If your battery is more than about 4-5 years old, then it will be loving on borrowed tim. Same yourself some time and effort and and get a new one. as stated above get the correct size one for the car, but be carful what it says in some of the 'application' book at certain garages and check what you should be using according to your instruction book. The new battery can make a JUGE difference in the starting of the car. Also remember at this time of the year you are probably all starting to use, blower more, rear demist etc, lights and all at the same time, so the battery is getting a hammering, not to mention the stereo of course.... :) get a quality battery, either a DETA, Hoppeke, MOLL, that type of thing but avoid the big chain specials as they are normally rubbish....and don't last nearly sa long. You are probably looking at about £1/amp for a quality battery. john
  14. davidwatsonok, Think you have hit it on the head...with the time you take to apply the wax. It is very hard work as I used to use it as well, but it is only a wax and you still need other products to clean the paint before hand. The fancy waxes, as you call them, can do the whole car in an hour or less and are effortless to apply and take off, SWISSOL anyway, Zymol is a little harder. At £5 a tin and at least 6 full applications that works out at about 83p a go, at 6 hours a time. The others start at around £39 give you about 40 complete waxings and take an hour, so it still only works out at 97p a time and much quicker. As you say it might not be around for much longer as it is not a quick seller....as it is very hard work maybe.... John.
  15. Like to thank John Mitchell, 16vG60, for a quick and efficient replacement of my front disks/pads enabling me to get on my way again quickly. Thanks John.
  16. Also try posting it on the polo forum as they also might be able to help http://www.uk-polos.net/ john
  17. There is also the plastic top cover that you can get, but the size depends on the battery you want to cover. Not that much from the dealer. John.
  18. May I suggest that you put the old pulley back on and then take it back the workshop. Surely they wouldn't be using a different bearing for their chargers that would have the smaller pulley fitted compared to a rebuild for someone else. John
  19. Welcome to the group...keep it clean.. john
  20. Also a point to remember, is that he wasn't the only person working on your car at that time, he also had a partner......
  21. BTW, the OE one is made of compressed coated paper isn't it? Not taking sides or anything here, but wasn't the 'replacement' gasket put in as the OE was knackered and you wanted the car back there and then.....so something was required to get you going..... John
  22. If you don't fancy any of the above, then use some Cleaner fluid and you will be amazed with the results.......followed by some quality wax on top of course.... John.
  23. 146 Jockey, They are similar products but different if you know what I mean. The SWISSOL waxes are easier to apply and remove, even if you have left them on the car for a period of time, whereas the Zymol one tends to bake on. The SW Cleaner Fluid in my opinion is easier and less messy to use, and gives a better result quicker, than the ZY HD Cleanse. Both are high quality products that will give you a superb result. The only other thing that I will say is that you can get a 10% discount on the SWISSOL range from me, and the Entry kits start at £110 delivered to you. The contents are different to the Zy ones, but you get a neat cooler bag to keep everything in as opposed to a cardboard container... Have a look at my web site for more info, or send me an email. John.
  24. Give John an ring or PM him 16vG60 as he is/has done some VR6 servicing work. He is in Rustington, about 25 miles from Birghton. HTH, John.
  25. Valver, I will let you know in advance next time..... 8)
