Hi, I'm thinking of getting some bigger inlet/exhaust valves for my G60 and had a few questions. From looking at posts on here and other places it seems 40mm inlet and 35mm exhaust are about the most common sizes - anyone have any other recommendations? What's involved with fitting different valves? I'm guessing the head needs machining? Does anyone have any recommendations for someone to do this in the Midlands (preferably Nottingham) area? What sort of price should I expect to pay for getting the head machined? Thanks, David.

Here's a couple of pictures of mine, unfortunately I haven't really got any decent pictures!

I've cleaned a bit of the passenger inner wing now. It looks loads better but unfortunately there's damage to the paint where the airbox has rubbed it. Before: After:

Yeah good point!I think the title is long enough already though :)

Hi, I've been a member on here for a while now and owned a couple of G60's so thought it was about time I put a few pictures up. Here's a couple of pictures I took when I first bought it: Unfortunately a problem with my car meant the pistons melted :( This was even more annoying as I'd only just replaced all the exhaust valves (200 miles ago) after the crankshaft pulley came loose! Anyway there was a slight bit of damage to the bores so I've decided to get some oversized pistons to take it up to 1.9L. I'm hopefully going to use this gallery so I've got a record of what I've done and provide a bit of motivation to myself as I go along! Here's a few pictures as I took the engine out: My brothers dogs inspecting the engine bay :) Engine removed ready for stripdown Block all stripped down ready for cleaning Block steam cleaned Now I've just got to get the engine bay cleaned up a little bit - maybe get it painted although I can't decide yet. All the replacement parts are ordered from Bahnbrenner so all being well they should arrive by next weekend. I'm hoping to get it all running ready for edition 38 but we'll see how realistic that is in a couple of weeks. Anyway that's enough of my ramblings for now!

Hi, Has anyone got a lysholm connected to a golf g60 intercooler - I'm trying to pipe mine up and need some ideas of where the pipes run! Thanks, David.

Hi, I've just replaced a sub frame on a mates C and we used one of these and they work fine. Just remember to put a bit of cloth under each of the feet to protect the wing a bit! David.

Thanks Darren! I'll have a proper check tomorrow to make sure everything is still in line.

Yeah the one that goes round the charger/alternater/waterpump etc I seem to remember reading somewhere these conversions are prone to doing this but can't find the post now!

Hi, Does anyone know the part number of the belt that is used on the toothed belt conversions? Mine decided to strip all the teeth off it today! Thanks, David.

Yeah that was me - I remember seeing a red corrado leaving as I was going in so I guess that was you! You can email me the picture or stick it up on here if you want - I haven't got any decent pictures of my car! Also, I've started a new thread for the Notts meet - see here -

Hi - sounds like you've got a nice G60 there! I'd be up for a Notts meet and should be able to get my brother to bring his as well. -
Yeah that's the one - forgot about the exhaust! Just remembered it's got a flowed throttle body and toothed belt kit as well!

Hi, I went to the rolling road day yesterday and made 245bhp and 270lb/ft! As far as I know all that is on it is a flowed head/cam/FMIC. It's also got an off-the-shelf chip so could do with a re-map as the torque graph isn't very smooth and it looses all it's power after 5000rpm. David.

Hi, Take a look in the buying guide - it shows the US figures in the first column of the table. 231 translates to between 11.6 and 14.5 psi according to the guide. David.

Thanks for all the replies and advice - after taking everything into account I'm probably going to leave it - I can glue the lense back onto the indicator and it's just another crack in the bumper at the end of the day.

I thought it was her fault but I just wanted to make sure before it goes any further - to be honest I don't really care about my car as it's all battered up anyway but I offered them a cheap and reasonable way out of it and they've refused so now I think i'll make them pay! Luckily it was only a light hit and she didn't manage to get much speed up so no-one was hurt which I suppose is the main thing.

Hi, I'm looking for a bit of advice about an accident I’ve just been involved in - luckily it was in my run around mondeo and not the corrado! What happened was I turned left down down a little side road and spun round to come back out of it. A woman in front of me had just done exactly the same so i was left sort of sideways across the road until she moved forward once the lights changed. Anyway she decided she was too far forward and reversed straight back into the front corner of my car - cracking the front bumper and popping the indicator lense off - typically there wasn't a spot of damage on her car. We both got out and started looking at the damage and then her partner appeared from around the corner. He said that it was totally my fault as I had done an illegal manoeuvre. I argued and said she'd done exactly the same and had reversed into me without looking (which she admitted to). Because it's an old car and there's a few scrapes and whatever on it I said give me 20 for a new indicator and call it quits - I thought I’d be nice to them as I couldn't be bothered with all the hassle of going through the insurance (which is my dads as it's a trade insurance). Her partner said no way and that as I was in the "wrong" they weren't going to pay - at which point I lost me temper a little bit and "raised my voice". After a few minutes of me asking for the money and them refusing I decided we were getting no-where so said OK we'll go through the insurance - at which point they said they'd give me half the money I was asking. I said they could bring it round tonight because I had had enough and just wanted to get home. Anyway, now I’m thinking of going through the insurance just on the principle of the thing but I'm not sure if I was in the wrong or not so was wondering if anyone could help? Thanks for reading through all this!!

Yeah the crossflow is 8v. I've actually got a 1.8t engine as well but my car has a brand new superchanger on it so want to keep that! So, so far the crossflow sounds like it would be the better option. I'd prefer to use that as well as it stands me at quite a lot of money but it's just the thought of all the work i've got to do to get it running!

Hi, I've got a choice of two engines that I can put into my G60 and I am looking for advice as to which one would be best because I can't decide! The first is a standard G60 engine that I would do a few things to before I put it in. I was thinking bigger pistons and maybe a flowed or big valve head. the other one is a standard G60 bottom end but with a cross flow head that has head a bit of work done to it. The first engine would probably cost me more to do but will have the advantage that it will still look standard and will also just be a straight swap for the original engine. However, it is always going to be restricted by the head. The second engine will take a lot more fitting and will need custom bits making to get it to fit. However, it will have a lot more potential for the future if I decide to do anything else. I want to run the resulting engine on standalone management and was thinking of going for the DTA one as this seems to provide the features I am looking for but if anyone has other recommendations that would be good! I think both engines would provide about the same power so I can't work out which would be best - has anyone any (relevant) thoughts?? Thanks in advance for your help, David.

Yeah as I've just found out :( I've been working abroad for 6 months and in the last month someone took all 4 off my wheels.
-
What I ideally wanted to do was swap hubs and brakes etc off the Golf so I can put the other wheels on but also so that i get a bit better brakes etc. If no-one has done it before then I might just go down the adapter route instead. Thanks for all the replies!

Hi, I've got a scrap Golf GTI (S Reg) and want to put the wheels onto my G60. Obviously this isn't going to be as easy as it sounds as they are 5 stud and the G60 is 4 stud. Does anyone know what/if I can swap the stuff onto my car so I can use these wheels? Cheers.

Corrected timing, now lost 65% power and runs rough ideas?

Just a warning (and this is only me stating facts) - Geoff Bloor hasn't got the best reputation. For example, took my car there for a rolling road session just to see how much power it had got. The figures were way down and he said he could take a look for me which I declined. So I took it somewhere else that I know is OK and the car magically gained 30-40 bhp!! Read into that what you want. Hope you get your problem sorted OK.
