looks mint -
cheers guys!! i have already had one rado wrote off so i know how that feels :pale: not good!! wasnt a happy chap with that one... but my next car was a VRT so not all bad  and doing the daily up is in some ways a bit silly, but im always driving and cleaning it so want it to look good, and its depressing me haha, going to be mint soon
-
nah, being well lazy and my mate is doing it all nice and cheap for me!! another mate who has a VR6 has just brought a compressor so we will be doing some of our own bits soon
-
easy for me to say, but dont give up... you sound so happy when its going well!! get this car sorted and it will pay you back for all your hard work mate
-
little update... been concentrating on the 16V as the VRT is off the road waiting for work to be done few issues recently; drivers door handle broke, so fixed that. Oil light beebing constantly to, so replaced both oil sensors and that annoying problem gone now! The main problem is i like cleaning my cars (a lot), and im getting a bit OCD tbh! so the daily was annoying the hell out of me! it looks okay from a distance and i can get some good photos so it looks mint; its such a nice colour imo and polishes up mint! BUT, when you look around it the bodywork is pretty terrible! no rust but plenty of other chips, dents, laquer peeling etc etc... Have a look for yourself; thats only what i have taken pictures of!! so i have been setting about giving the daily an overhaul  yep, to start off im having a full strip down and respray :D then a few other bits doing to it! then i will be concentrating on the VRT for the rest of the year
-
looks awesome!! i would buy one and use it daily if i had the money, like the RS's (the only ford i haved liked for years)
-
ok, update... bottom end shagged due to oil pump failure! dont know the details but he is having a 2nd hand bottom end fitted that jabba have in stock, so not too bad. They are charging him £150 for it. So new pump, bottom end and labour. He is going to have an oil cooler fitted and maybe some other goodies for now
-
bet your gutted, surely you wanted to drive it for a month or 2 in good weather first? or do you have no heart
-
i would buy it!! i paid 6k for my VRT and its not as nice as this!!!!!! but i dont regret it for a minute  can see how your feeling James mate, i will never sell my VRT though.. driving arund in the valver is awesome, but i would like a S3 or R32 to drive around in if i had the cash

big ben replied to daves16v's topic in Suppliers Forum
ordered and paid for the handle repair kit friday 16:00, arrived at my door at 8:30 Saturday!!!!! awesome dealing with and instructions you sent out are a massive bonus, recommend these to everyone... will be in touch when the next one goes  -
jabba picked it up about a week ago. The guy doing it has been working on a Mk4 golf or something, his is next... Im sure we will know whats wrong with it early next week, will let you know the good/bad news!!

Jim is spot on... 0-60 isnt what a VRT is about. I havent ever given mine any stick in 1st gear... get it in second with the peloquin i can get some good traction and the power goes down nicely!! so 1st gear is basically nothing im afraid in most cases. At 70-80mph mine runs off boost, so the same mpg as a VR6
-
i know you do
-
[/quote:1g9pj5sk] i do sometimes wonder why i need a VRT, i miss the VR noise and character!! but then you get in the VRT and realise how good it is to have a corrado that goes so fast!! i cant see myslef ever getting rid of it... and i need to be able to pull the pants down on cars like Type R's and that, so much fun
-
i had a mk3 gti 8v, got me from A to B and was VERY reliable, only thing that could go wrong with it is if i fell asleep at the wheel as its so boring to drive
-
im running 9psi, but thinking i wana go to a bar later this year... my gearbox has been reconditioned by Vince actually (not when i had it), so i think it will be alright  its not a daily and only will be doing few thousand miles a year
-
they put a 68mm on i think, with chip etc... not 100% tbh, running a lot more boost anyway!! when it was first coming on briefly i would of thought it was to do with the boost being high and a drop of pressure somewhere? but i rekon the oil pump is shagged and something seriuosly wrong has happened :pale:
-
the golf gti 8v sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but i would drive a 8v corrado everyday defo :D and i disagree that the VR6 isnt fast, it still is fast imo. There isnt really a need to go faster than a VR, its just fun if you do. For the money they are a good looking fast sportcar which will give most things a run for their money

i will update when he finds out, i was just thinking i could give him some bad news before hand  harsh i know
-
Obviously not I'd say.... what exactly was done - engine rebuild?? basically everything but; charger stage 4, pulley kit, stainless mani and jetex exhaust system, top mounts engine mounts, sensors etc etc. about 2k's worth!! so he is left with the engine itself really, and looks like thats all going to be done
-
what boost would you say starts to wreck the gearbox Kev?
-
great work, glad its been worth all the effort :salute:

Yep, my mates G60 has been at jabbasport having an overhaul. They have done a great job and he has spent a fortune!! he got the car back and 24hrs later the oil light is beeping and engine is making tappit noises. He drove it back to his house, luckily he was only a mile away so it is as good as it can be... Jabba are picking it up sometime this week, but i was wondering what everyone thought... I would think the oil pump is knackered, if so what could need replacing?
