No probs, glad to contribute something back to the forum for the first time, lol. Going to take a while being more of a mk1 golf man until now.

Pull the temp/fuel gauge out of the clocks. Pop the needle off and remove the 2 screws that hold the face on and you will see a thin metal strip with wire wrapped around it. The end of this goes into a 'runner' that is part of the 'pole' that the needle connects to. Should have taken a pic, but its all back together now. If this is the problem then its really obvious once the face is off, as the fuel gauge works in exactly the same way.

Having picked up a second hand set upon swapping the temp gauge over I thought I would have a look to see what the problem was. I expected to find a burnt out wire, but the problem was that the metallic strip that bends under current and turns the needle had come out of its 'runner'. Popped this back in and it now works. Double doh. £60 spent fixing a problem that could have cost nowt. Ah well, at least I have got rid of the dodgy wiring and blue lights that someone had fitted.

Cheers, although it turns out the 3 dials just pull straight out.

Got another set of clocks and need to remove the water temp/fuel section to put in my other set. Cant see how I remove it though. Got the plastic face off fine, and removed the 2 securing screws on the dial, but the needles seem to be stopping me from taking it out, and they dont seem to want to pull off. How is it removed?

Nope, the sunroof.

Discs all round could do with replacing so going to be upgrading the brakes to either 288 or 312mm soon, so will be replacing fluid at the same time. Think it may just be I am not familiar with it, pedal feels fine, returns perfectly, its just lower than I am used to. Will monitor over the next few weeks to see if there is any change. Only use the car at weekends, so its nothing that urgently needs any potential problems diagnosing. Cheers.

nice easy one for you ...can I still remove it ok by undoing the bolts from inside with the headlining out, or are there screws that need to be undone with it open? Thought the motor was kaput, but seemingly just jammed, bonus.

That would be awesome. Have a wedding on Saturday, but will be around most of Sunday, and am around mid week from 2ish if thats any good.

To the top i believe.

Late I believe

Water gauge broken so need a replacement set of clocks. Preferably fully functional.
-
Ta, bridged and nothing. So either the gauge is dead, or the wiring is damaged. Hooked my vdo water temp gauge straight to pin 2 and onto the batt terminals and it only went up to 70, even though it was way hotter than that, so I am guessing the sender is not compatible with the gauge?
-
Anyone know which 2 of the 4 do the gauge? Went ahead and bought a new sender without testing it and it still don't bloody work, doh. Will hook it up to my spare water temp gauge and see if that works.

Unsure about DDIs, only bought it Saturday. Wired the grey cable back together and as far as I can see it made no difference. Maybe something to do with the illumination that i cant see in daylight.
-
Whilst trying to source the problem of my water temp not working(not sender, replaced with new one) I found this. Red wire goes to light switch yellow/black cable(live?) Black goes to earth on car. Any ideas why this has been done, what does this all grey cable that has been spliced do?
-
That will do nicely, cheers. Let me know your email and i will get a £ to you.

Think mine is early dash, not really sure when they changed having only just bought my first C. Got a pic of it?
-
As per missing one in the photo. Anyone got one lying around that I can paypal you a £ or 2 for. Gareth

See I have never driven a hydro vw before, loads of mk1 and 2s, vans, ford focus' etc and i must say this feels a bit odd, maybe it just takes some getting used to if there isn't a problem.
-
As title, bought the car with a low pedal release/engage point, thinking low clutch, but having had a search it looks like its not this as they get high, not low when wearing out. This lead me to believe the slave, master or pipework are to blame. However upon inspection the reservoir is completely full still and i can not see any leaks(quick look from above). Any idea what the problem may be, and if a bleed of the system may solve the issue? The clutch pedal comes all the way back up fine, and the clutch is showing no signs of slipping at all. Gareth

Had a quick search but wanted to confirm. Is it the yellow sender i need to change, and is there any chance the actual gauge in the clocks has broken, or is it most likely to be the sender. Cheers.

Its a dizzy. Only going to be a weekend car mainly as i have a work van. Will be adjusting the rear lights in due course, got to sort a few other bits out first. More of a lurker on swdubs, posting occasionally. My sig over there looks like this. Cheers, for the warm welcome guys:thumbleft:

Yeh, although I had to drive a 520 mile round trip for it. Well worth it though for the price. I really dont understand why the bottom has fallen out of the Corrado market so badly in the last few years, they are amazing cars. I got called a barsteward by a mate when I turned up in it as he has wanted a Vr Rado for years. Just thought I would mention I am 'mk1 valver' on cgti and swdubs.

Hello everyone. Picked up my first Corrado on Saturday, a pearl green Vr. Here are some pics from the advert, not got my own yet Maybe someone recognizes it, has a club sticker in the back window. Only owned golfs for the past 10 years, 1 mk2 2.0 16v and 3 mk1's. The most recent car being a Lhasa green mk1 16v on bike carbs, track setup with coilovers, eibach arbs, widetrack etc,(soon to be sold) so will be asking lots of questions soon no doubt as i have no Rado or vr6 knowledge. Decided I wanted something a bit more practical and road friendly, hence the Rado. Pretty amazed by just how well it handles, very neutral and grippy, even with a big vr up front. Needs some things sorting like sunroof, central locking and water temp gauge, common problems by the sound of things. Other than that a very tidy car that I am extremely pleased with. Gareth.
