  1. Found that the wastegate to exhaust bolts have gone walkies so got some new ones on order. As such the car has been off the road all week. In that time I have, Replaced the front speakers that were shagged with some cheap Alpine components. Replaced the single middle washer jet that did an appalling job of spraying the screen with 2 mist type jets found on Citreons and Peugoets etc. Also fitted new Bosch Aero blades and bent the arms a bit so have a fully effective wiper system. Been on a cleaning mission. The roof and bonnet were covered in what looked like water marks, but ingrained into the paint. :? About 7 hours of T-cutting later, a few layer of paint removed and some sore arms and fingers the car was looking much better. Gave the rest of the car a quick T-cut as well to remove any hazing that had built up since its respray, then Poorboys Black Hole and Meguires Deep Crystal Carnuba Waxed it. The parcel shelf has 6*9s fitted so covered it with some black cloth I had left over from a few years ago when I did the same to my last Corrado. Also blacked up the handles that were looking faded. Looking forward to getting the bolts on so I can start enjoying it again. Got got a new Kenwood headunit on its way to replace the old Alpine one that has no connectivity other than cd changer.
  2. That was easy, lol. My old 16v mk2 did this when it was wet and I found a lead arching to the inlet manifold.
  3. How heavy is that stuff? Been looking at a bulk pack of Silent Coat as it has got some good recommendations on ED38. Thinking it should be lighter also as its only 4mm as opposed to 12mm.
  4. Not firing on all cylinders? Check the leads to see if they are broken and arcing and check the plugs and dizzy/ rotor. Guessing its a 2.0 16v?
  5. The S4 had to make way for this. Got a guy coming from London to look at it tomorrow so it should hopefully be sold soon.
  6. Caol unplugged the AF soon after he bought it as it was distracting  so need to get that hooked back up. Also need to get a HT lead tool so I can check the plugs, but he ain't changed them in his ownership so I will just replace them with some Bosch S2 ones.
  7. Most of you already know the car as it is the one James built then sold to Graeme. Well now its mine  Flew up to Aberdeen yesterday morning then after a bit more haggling on the price a deal was done. Drove 330 miles to Lancs to my folks where I spent the night then got up early today and carried on to Exeter. Didn't miss a beat all the way back. Only thing is it is running really rich, don't know if this was a problem for you Graeme? On the first leg of the journey I managed 27.45mpg. This was mostly Duel c's and M-way with the odd foot to the floor, so I think 30mpg might be possible if driving live a granny. Turns out that my parents live only 4.5miles from the original owner of 8 years. Would have popped round to see if he still lived there but it was after a few drinks I discovered this going through the history. Few small plans for it, mostly remedial. The Track rod ends need doing as do the wiper blades, then its onto things like more sound deadening refurb the wheels and other small bits and pieces. Here it is after a quick wash. On the way back a new M3 convertible came roaring up behind me whilst stopped at some lights for the Duel C out to Exeter airport. Floored it from the lights as did he. Obviously thought I would be easy pickings as he pulled straight out into lane 2. Having to short shift 1st and 2nd he nearly managed to get along side, but by the time I was into third it was bye bye Mr £30k M3. Started to streak away once into 4th and by the time we got upto 130-140 I was a good few car lengths ahead and I was very close to my junction so backed right off. He was still in the outside lane at this point and continued to floor it passed despite being well and truly spanked.:smug: This made my journey as I had the GF in the passenger seat and he was on his own.
  8. Cheers guys. Wasn't too enamoured with the thought of driving a new car 580 miles home so took out Greenflag home recovery to be on the safe side, not that VR6' are known for their unreliability or anything
  9. I still have 2 of those fuel neck surrounds if you want one Chris.
  10. Well after selling my VR6 to a mate back in sept 2011 for Audi S4 ownership I am soon to be back in a 'Rado. Agreed a price over the phone and put down a deposit. Picking it up from Aberdeen on Saturday, then driving it 580 miles back to Exeter with a stop off at my folks in Lancs for the night. Can't bloomin wait, already planning what to do to it. :thumbleft: The car will need no introduction to those who have not been under a proverbial rock for the last few years.

Lol, non taken. The Corrado is a seriously good looking car and far sportier than my S, and the GF has a company E91 Estate oil burner that I am insured on so don't really need the S4, although it was great fun in the little snow we actually got down here this winter. Leaving a fully iced over car park on Dartmoor sideways whilst others were struggling to even move is something I would dearly miss.

It was the fact all the potentially expensive stuff has been done, so should be reliable if looked after well, that makes me want it. Cosmetic stuff is a lot cheaper to sort and can be done whenever, so a few small bits here and there are no problem for me as its an old car and to be expected. From my calculations you would need to be in the region of 550bhp in our cars to keep up with it given the weight and transmission losses associated with them? Or would you say less? I am also thinking it will corner a hell of a lot better, no matter what you do to ours thanks to the engine position. Although its been so long since I drove one, and mine is so much better than when I first got it now, so maybe I am expecting a bit much? Definitely one to think hard about.

Just read this thread from start to finish as I love the car and am tempted to come back to 'Rado ownership for this, with it being back up for sale, having sold my VR to a mate in Sept' 2011 and bought a 420 bhp S4 B5. Only thing is it is a hell of a long way to go from Exeter to 'Deen to look at a car. I would also have to sell my S4 first, which I would only do for this particular car, so would need to be certain of its condition. If I am honest I didn't miss the Corrado that much until I got a lift in my old one. Everything from the noise to the relaxed and low driving position makes me want another now. That and the fact the S4 isn't the sportiest through the bends, even with coilovers and fat rear arb. Am I mental to be thinking of going from a thirsty and expensive to maintain S4 to another potential PITA.:bonk:
  14. Blue C on the A30 early this morning around 7.45ish. Sat in a lay-by with the bonnet open, so probably a Vr.
  15. Got hold of some cheap vents of the 'bay which I modified today to hold gauges. Going to try and find another header tank second hand, drill it, then fit a water temp sender into it held by a nut on the back with some epoxy style glue to seal it. That other **** gauge will be replaced with a vdo oil temp that I will plumb into a sump plug sender. I like gauges! :geek:
  16. Cheers, wasn't too sure to begin with, but the more I see it the better it looks. Fitted some spacers to the rear(7mm) to even out the stance. So am now running et 34.5 rear and 32.5 front
  17. I have just gone from 205/40/17 to 205/45/16 and think the wheels look small in comparison, so I guess its just what you get used to seeing. As far as I can see your only option is to get the arches rolled if you want to stick with those tyres. Looks wise I think they look a lot better, 15s are a bit lost on Corrados IMO. But ride quality will be much worse in comparison, hence the reason for my change. I do however get way less feedback from the road now, but the noise/comfort improvements make up for that. Horses for courses. Depends how you want the car to drive.
  18. Gave up on polishing and ended up painting them. I also wanted them on this side of x-mas, and polishing by hand to get the casting marks out is a complete ball ache. Got some custom made spigot rings made up for the 1mm difference in hub size, and also some 9mm spacers to clear the front brakes. Drilled out the wheel holes to allow the wobble bolts to do their thang and hey presto, wheels that fit. Ride is massively better now, as should be grip after a few hundred miles. Steering is lighter and there is also less road noise. Went for 205/45/16 Kuhmo KU39's in the end. £240 delivered from cam skills, then £25 from a local place to get them fitted.
  19. Ideally between 10mm and 13mm. Already got longer bolts so don't need those. One pair is enough, however if you have 4 I may be interested if the price is right.
  20. Last contact I had was on the 2nd saying all items have been posted. Looking at his feedback HERE some people have started to receive items, so hopefully mine should be here tomorrow.
  21. Still waiting on 2 items, not best pleased.
  22. Picked these up yesterday. Getting them acid dipped then going to have a go at polishing them. Plan on fitting some 205/45/16 which should make the ride a bit more pliable. Will also be good to have some decent tyres, as the car has cheapo Fullways on the front and equally **** tyres on the rear. Thinking Rainsport 2 if I can get a good price or Kuhmo'
