Having just fitted R32 rear wishbone bushes and about to replace the T.R.E.s I thought I may as well get a full set up at pro tyre. What would be a good camber for fast road use that also wont wear the tyres out too quickly? -0.5 - 1 Degree sound about right or should I just get it set at 0?

Just popped to TPS to pick up some oil and found 5l Quantum Platinum on offer at £13.50 Ex vat. (wed - friday if anyone else is interested, whole range is on offer at varying prices) Then headed off for some petrol and spotted a ratchet in the middle of a roundabout, so looped back round to get it. Turned out to be a Snap on 3/8" drive, nice. :smug: Then after getting fuel an old gent sticks his head through my passenger window and starts talking to me about the car. Turns out he has a red VR6 in his garage and still thinks they are a beautiful car. He must have been in his 70s and still knew the wheels were speedlines as mine threw him for a second. All in all a good trip out. Shame my week off is up today and am back to work tomorrow.

Ha, not to everyones taste, but could be a decent car. Saw that Red VR6 2 more times on the A30 this week. Nobody know it?

May be worth a quick look on ebay for batteries. When I last bought one for my S4 it was cheaper from ebay delivered than anywhere else. How with its weight I don't know, but it was a proper one like Bosch or Varta. I run a cheap solar charger to keep mine topped up. Did a test on my S4 and had a very slight negative(charging) reading with the charger plugged in. Only cost circa £15 from Maplin and can be used anywhere. ---------- Post added at 5:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 5:21 PM ---------- May be worth a quick look on ebay for batteries. Considering the previous owner was a VW mechanic with access to cheap parts and a workshop not much in the way of basic maintenance was carried out on this car by the look of it. Changed the NS rear wishbone bush today for a Lemforder R32 one and this is what I found. Front one looked really awkward and was still in good condition with no play so I left it in. Loosened the driver side bolts then realised the front one would catch on the sump so have left it there for today. Will try and get it done tomorrow now I know how to get around this by raising the engine. Thankfully all 4 wishbone bolts came loose with a 6ft scaffold pole being used as a breaker bar and didn't snap.

Seen 2 today. Red VR6 on the A30 early this morning heading cornwall direction. Second time I have spotted this now on what must be his/your Commute. Silver 16v going into Newton Abbot about half 8.

This turned up today, purchased from 'The_Dude'. 25mm 3 way adjustable Neuspeed rear ARB. Gave the drop links a good wire brush as they were pretty rusty. Quick coat of Acid etch and silver paint and they look much better. Just ordered some new longer lower shock bolts then its ready to go on.

Yep, its actually for sale on swdubs at the minute. Bought it, did the conversion in a week and put it up for sale. He thought about breaking it as it cost him frig all, but was in really good condition when he picked it up. Change the front and rear lights and some nice wheels and i think it could be a nice car. ---------- Post added at 8:06 AM ---------- Previous post was at 8:04 AM ---------- Here you go. http://www.swdubs.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=28942

Did you replace the rubber 'o' rings as well? So long as there is no leaking then it aint a problem them being a bit loose. I replaced mine and re used all O rings but only 2 of them sealed. 1 new O ring later and the rather large leak was gone.
-
Probably a combination of factors. I feel they just aren't fast enough in standard trim. Having owned a 400+ bhp S4 a VR feels painfully slow and does nothing for me anymore, so when the VRT came up for sale I had to have it as I still love the looks and handling characteristics. of the 'Rado.

Totally agree with you here, however Lemforder are OE spec and also the OE supplier to Merc so are of excellent quality. If they fall apart in a years time I will say I was warned but chose to ignore it anyway as I have just ordered Lemforder R32 back and standard fronts. ---------- Post added at 6:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 6:20 PM ---------- How much of a job is this? Just a case of undo the 2 wishbone bolts, ARB drop link bolt and 3 outer ball joint bolts? Or will I need to start messing with the suspension as well?

Nice one boys, should be considerably cheaper than the £23 per bush for powerflex as well. :thumbleft: ---------- Post added at 9:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:02 PM ---------- Quick search and the part number ends in B, not A, for the correct item( 8N0407181B) The ones that end A are for the front of the wishbone. Now do I go Meyle or Lemforder? Only £2 price difference and I know both are highly regarded in Audi circles. ---------- Post added at 9:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:10 PM ---------- The Meyle are described as heavy duty, so thinking Lemforder. ---------- Post added at 9:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:13 PM ---------- Just found some Lemforder front bushes for £3.12 each. Seems very cheap!

Cheers guys. Wasn't sure if the sleeper-ness being lost would be an issue for some, however it does look very factory, so only someone in the know would realise, which I like.

In the process of renewing the tired front end and need new front wishbone bushes (front and rear) to go with my new Track rod ends I just bought. What is the best option for a fast road car? Thinking powerflex will be a bit crashy and I seem to remember something about R32 rear bushes? being good. Part numbers and prices would be handy. TIA.

Yeah I looked into VRT plates but until all the other mods like Traction Control are done I can't afford it. Not ruling it out at some point in the future though.

Decided I wanted a grill badge, but thought I would try something a bit different. £30 on a second hand VR6 badge and £7 on a new TDI badge, some tiger seal and some silver paint and here is the result. Happy enough with it, however getting the paint smooth was not easy so is a bit rough up close. May flatten it at some point with Wet and Dry. Likey or no likey?

Got this in an old mk1 and was told it was from a Corrado. Anyone know if this is correct? Is it a proper Corrado Recaro seat frame? Would love to find another and fit them to mine but doubt that is likely to happen.

Big Vac leak? I had similar symptoms yesterday after forgetting to plug a vac line back in. Not that likely as it seems heat related but you never know, the heat could be opening up the split/leak.
-
Seen that one, was hoping for a cheaper offer on here for one that I don't mind chopping up.
-
Not sure, are the rear badges the same size? Would be easier if it were a front one as the mount is already there.
-
Condition not massively important, nor is colour, although I would prefer silver, as I plan on modding it to become a VRT badge with the T from a T4 TDI which happens to be the same size and style. What ya got?

Having suffered cracked ribs and wrist, not to mention the mental trauma it caused his family I think Nigel deserves everything he can get from them. It's the muppets who claim whiplash for car park bumps that drive up insurance premiums, not claims from serious accidents.

Dead easy, could someone measure me a VR6 badges height and length in mm. Cheers. ---------- Post added at 5:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 5:31 PM ---------- Grill badge that is.
