Mono race wheel plus other random bits and bobs

Pic of "bad" indicator attached, £15 and postage will be a fiver The crazing in the plastic is tiny! Give them a coat of lacquer and they will look mint. -

Warning, dirty car pictures below! Managed to get the wheels on today, even though the powder coat should be super durable, I have given them two coats of carnauba wax first. Rears are using 15mm spacers to help fill the arches. -

Yep, took a bit of time but they came up nice. Started with 2000 grit, then 2500, 3000 and then finished with AG super resin polish, which I have found to be excellent on clear plastics -

Cheers mate, will be running the rears with some 15mm spacers to get them flush with the arches. They feel very light compared to the TT comps -

So the BBS Montreal wheels I bought on eBay looked great in the pics, no corrosion or curbing on the faces, however once they arrived I realised the backs of the wheels had about 2mm of caked on crap....not a good sign! After spending and hour soaking them in AG wheel cleaner and scrubbing them down, I revealed a lot of corrosion that was right up to the edges of the backs of the spokes. I had a choice to make here, leave them and in 6 months that corrosion would have spread to the front......or rattle can re-spray the backs but in the past I have found that doesn't last if they are corroded, plus I'm a busy guy so time is an issue......or bite the bullet and get them refurbed even though the face looks fine :( I've wanted to give Bettablast powder coaters a go for a while, they are based in Shiremore Newcastle and have some lovely work on their website http://www.bettablast.co.uk This seemed like a good opportunity and I so i went for it,picked the wheel up today. Need a coat of wax yet but some really deep sparkle Powder coat should be a lot more durable than the original paint, plus they have been dipped in zinc undercoat first to ensure they last for many many years -

Mono race wheel plus other random bits and bobs

Sure, will likely be towards the end of the week and the car is tucked away in the garage at the moment. That pic above is what they look like at that distance. The crazing is only visible at very close inspection. -

Hi Ollie, will fit straight onto yours. It is only the early valvers and G60s that had a narrower spline. Please pm me and I'll give you my PayPal details. Cheers Ron -

No idea mate! Hopefully one of the other guys on here will know -
Hi all, I have KW v1s (inox) on my Vr6 and last weekend we tried to raise the suspension a touch. The front was easy enough but the rears are stuck tight and no amount of WD40 wants to shift them. The spring platforms are plastic with plastic thread and so we can't apply heat to them. The guys at MB motorsport have said that they can be more brutal but there is a risk of breaking them and so they think it better to have 2 spare platforms on standby. My question is, are the rear platforms the same as the front? I already have a spare front one and so I could just buy one more but if they are different then I have to buy two new rears. Cheers Ron

Nice one! Wish I'd know before I got those other parts from you.... Would have saved some effort ;)

Just realised that my VR6 doesn't have one :( I need the bracket inc the rubber mount and bolt that go through the scuttle. Cheers Ron

Deposit taken and so I'll keep you updated it if falls through

Need to do a bit of a parts clear out! All prices are excluding postage. Momo "race" wheel, very good nick due to having only been on the car about 18 months. Pretty much unmarked leather and no scratches on the metal section or horn Comes with 22mm boss. - SOLD VR6 DDI dials for spares - I managed to break the speedo dial when repairing the connectors and so I am breaking the kit as spares. Speedo dial is buggered but rev counter and water/fuel are mint and have just had connectors re-glued, tested and working. Rev counter dial £10 Fuel/water dial £10 Inverter (4 outputs for dials plus volt/oil pod) £20 Repaired connectors as per my thread here 10x extended wheel bolts for use with spacers. 50mm thread with tapered seat, brand new! £12 Corrado sunroof switch and interior lights, unmarked and working fine £10 Tinted orange indicators, drivers side is fine and is just painted orange with spray tint (could likely be removed with some thinners. The other looks fine but on close inspection, you can see some crazing in the plastic. Fine if leaving orange but no good if cleaning tint off. £15 the pair Cheers Ron

Hi, I used to have a vr6 with the VWM intake (shrick is basically an aftermarket version of the original VWM version) It also had a Miltek cat back, ported throttle body and an AmD remap and it made 212bhp at AmD but I'm afraid I can't remember the torque figure (it was 10 years ago) The engine was not old (about 30k on the clock) I suspect that the intake was probably contributing 10-12bhp plus a wedge of extra torque. To be honest, unless power really is you thing then I wouldn't recommend it from a ££££ to bhp point of view. You need the manifold plus the extra Ecu and then fitting plus new gaskets etc Cams are probably more worthwhile as cheaper and provide similar bhp gains to the shrick but without the torque. If you are handy with DIY and your head/tappets are in good nick then you can do the cams for under £500 I don't think that doing manifold and cams would yield a compounded gain. By that I mean 10 bhp from cams and 10 bhp from shrick intake is unlikely. You probably see 15+bhp from both together and the shrick contributing a bit torque increase. But you would have to get the car custom mapped to get the best from it all and that is another £400-500 So that's £2000 for 20bhp at the very top end. I have an Octavia VRs as my daily (2.0 TSI) and I spent £1500 on mods and gained 70-80bhp and so spending that kind of money on a vr6 doesn't make sense to me. HTH Ron

Just checked my paypal and I've had a deposit on these at £300. £250 would get you some pretty poor ones. £300 is a bargain for these, check out the other set of comps in the classifieds for £250 and also the ones on Briskoda for £230...... You'll see what I mean as with these you just need to change one tyre rather than paying for full refurb and tyres!

Matt, if you ever read this then I hope you have a bloody good reason for not getting in touch and not sending me the mirror switch i paid for. I've been pm'ing you with no joy, it have been over a month since I returned the window switch that you sent me by mistake and now I have no switch and also paid for the return postage of the wrong item. I've asked for a refund but had nothing...... Please get in touch so we can sort this out.

Cheers, it was a bit of a random purchase....I saw them on ebay and just thought they would work with my OEM+ goal. They are made by BBS and look factory, not overly modern so they dont look out of place with the cars age, not overly bling etc Looking forward to getting some tyres on them.
