Experimenting with McCulloch HID lighting system
G60ING replied to corradog60stage4's topic in Exterior
Wow  -
5th gear is easy to fix without removing the transmission from the car. Hell you can replace the whole 5th gear assembly, including the syncro if need be by only removing the 5th gear cover and wheel. You also "might" be able to help you shifting into it with adjusting the shift cables. This thread will show you about the 5th gear swap: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=767717

the 02J 20V 1.8T has a different bell housing then the Vr6 so it will not bolt onto the Vr6 engine. The internals will swap into the VR6 case.

The reason most are recomending the PD is because of the power potenial they have. If you take a 150hp pd tdi you can get realisticly well over 200whp and 350wtq. The easiest swap is to do the mk3/b4 donor and have it done in a week's worth of work 60-100hours.

The USA's Mk3 2L aba throttle body bolts up perfectly to the 20V 1.8T intake manifold and it has a throttle position sensor. Here is the one I have on my 20VG60 motor that I am slowly working on

its great swap. I drive mine everyday and love it. Hell today I had a guy in a Ford Mustang pull along side and give me the thumbs up. I've had so many people interested in my car that I've decided to build a 2nd corrado TDI. Here are the links to both of my TDI corrados build threads: 1990 DZSL Corrado Build Thread 1992 DZSL SLC Corrado Build Thread

My 1.9L 8V corrado is getting 45-55mpg but then again its using diesel :D

You guys didn't get the aba 2L crossflow motors? I swapped one these blocks in to my G60 a couple years back. Easy swap and good power. Plus the pistons are know to hold 15psi without issues.

I'm trying to track down an early large port 20V Sharan intake manifold for my 20V G60 project that I want to work on this winter or when I'm done with my next tdi corrado. I'm looking for parts yard that would be willing to sell the manifold for a reasonable price and ship it to the USA. Below are some pics of parts I need. Also if anybody needs some parts from the USA just let me know. Thanks :D

When I bought new tie-rods they came with the outer tie-rod ends and the locking nut.

I don't know about in the UK but here you can get rebuilt axles for $75 or 38 pounds. Personally I like the OEM CV joints because they are stronger but if you aren't doing anything crazy you should be able to get away with some standard replacements. So for under 100 pounds you could replace both axles in under 2 hours. This is also a great time to install new ball joints, tie-rod/ends, front brakes, suspension bushings, and or suspension.

A mystery about US and UK G60's and interference engines...
G60ING replied to potatonet's topic in Engine Bay
I have sheared the ket on my crank with a HOR260 cam and did not have any problems on my US Spec G60 motor. I've only heard of a couple people that have bent valves when this happens, typically on 268 cams. -
If all of my parting of corrados I have never heard of this one before. :?:

Need pics of a G60 (non ABS) Brake Servo Vac line to intake
G60ING replied to aussieg60's topic in Engine Bay
I had a problem with getting a brake booster vacume line to fit when I made my air to water IC and I ended up using the check valve and the end that plugs into the brake booster with a large vacume hose -

These are engine bays from 1998-1999 sharans that I pulled from ebay.co.uk and the one makes me think that they are DS inlet. Since the era of big port heads were 1997-1999 I think it may be possible. http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b6cf24b3127cce8e3a488c2bfc00000017108CZtXDdy5aw http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b6cf24b3127cce8e3a488a2bfa00000016108CZtXDdy5aw This thread on the Vortex is why I raise the question: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2369569

I'm looking for a 20V intake manifold with the inlet on the transmission side for a Corrado I'm building. I need the runners to be for a large port 20V head. I've heard that the earl 20V Sharan might have this manifold. Could you confirm this for me. Thanks

My understanding is that the ABF 16V transmission has the same gear ratios as Vr6 Transmission http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... 360#466360 I built a G60 transmission with a Vr6 "CDM" 1-4 gears, VR6 3.6 R&P and a TDI .756 5th gear

In the USA the VR6 Corrado and VR6 Golf/Jetta have different Ring and pinions. 1st -5th are the same but the Final drive for the corrado is 3.6 where as the Golf and jetta VR6's final drive is 3.3

You have to think about is as an engineer would. take a cardboard box and play with it. cut the ends off and then you have something that is not very strong but can simulate a car's cabin. add a piece of card board in the same manner as a 2 pt bar. Then add a 3rd leg. now you will see why the 4 leg bar is so much better. the only thing that a 2 pt bar does is garentee that the rear shocks will be the same distance apart. It does nothing to make certain that they are at the correct angle.
