Could be a shout. But then the issue will lay with the plastic bearing pooing it's pants. I'm looking at solid topmounts because they should never poo them self and use a big 20mm+ bearing - a rose joint style one. They should last much much longer..
-
I've not checked the bearings.. They stick up loads out of the turret, like loads. and they have loads of flex in them too when I put weight on the front end. I was also under the impression that the bearings are the same for the Mk4?

Just came across a recommendation for these: http://www.motorsportengineering.co.uk/adjustable%20alloy%20top%20mounts.htm Has anyone actually fitted any sort of uprated top mount?

Nice one. It did the trick, well we'll find out tonorrow when I bleed them. Cheers man.

Dropped a bit of a b####k last night :( I've stripped my brakes down including all of the brake lines from the ABS unit to re-new them today. It was getting late and when I stripped the two long lines which go from the ABS to the rear compensator and I forgot to take note of which pipe fastens to where? Can anyone confirm which ABS outlet (I believe it's 3rd and 4th from the passenger side on the ABS when I removed them) goes to which fixing on the rear compensator (I know it's the bottom two). So say, does the 3rd from the passenger side on the ABS unit go to the bottom passenger side on the rear compensator block...? Or..? Any help would be awesome.

Nice, any idea which size I'll need?

First off, as above. Try moving the hot/cold dial when the engine and blower are off (so its dead quiet in the car) and you should hear something slide and move. There should be some resistance in the dial. If not then your dial or heater cable are broken. If yes, I would say that the flaps in you're heaterbox which direct the airflow are perished and full of holes.

I'm taking a stab in the dark here, but my guess is this is for the wiring for a interior oil pressure gauge which was an optional extra. I'm led to believe that some cars came with the wiring from the factory as standard.

Yep, got one. Still in one piece but with a hairline crack. Drop me a PM.

Hey guys and girls, I've just replaced the sunroof motor on the VR as the original had gone caput. All was well then about a week later I noticed that the sunroof wasn't sliding all the way back. At first I thought I was going mad but I clearly remember it sliding fully back. A few other threads have confirmed it should go back further than to what it currently is: Using the manual wind the sunroof does in fact go back further, but when I do, the electric function stops working until I manually wind it further forward. The sunroof slides easily and nothing seems seized at all. It's all been re-greased. I've taken the motor out and re-aligned it (sunroof fully closes, motor removed and the switch pressed until the motor goes fully forward). I've tested it by having the motor in the half way position so it can go fully back on the press of a switch (but then it won't go fully forward). It seems as if the motor is stopping on it's limit before it should. I have also tried a different switch/light console. Is the motor deaded or can I reset or do something I don't know about?

Whats a jesus handle? I have a coat hook. FOC to you my old chum if you fail to get one.

I think it is.. I'll get a picture to confirm tomorrow. How much pretty please.

As the title, I'm after a late sunroof motor, fully working obviously! Thanks.

I know, I just don't want it to come to that.. My only concerns about those compbrake ones are that something else will just give.. Such as the strut tops. :brickwall:

Balls.. Mine needs looking at then.. Booo hisss! :bonk:
-
Mine broke, all it needed was a new motor, £10 and 30 minute fix! On that note.. How far back should a Corrado sunroof slide? Does this look right or should it go back more?

My VAG VR6 topmounts have lasted a mere 3,000 miles. Well one of them has and the other isn't far behind. I know it's a combination of my wafer thin tyres, hard suspension and Sheffiled's quite frankly horrifically pot holed roads. I don't want to be changing them 2-3 times a year.. Are upgrades available? I've found these: http://www.compbrake.com/cars/vw/golf-mk3/vw-golf-mk3-fixed-top-mounts-pair.html Whats everyones thoughts or alternatives?

Update, Had a good chat with C&R and as it turns out the hose supplied is correct and my car has had the non VR6 rear brake hoses fitted at some point, maybe it's had a non VR6 axle at some point, maybe just the wrong hoses or brackets, who knows? They were really good and are sending me the correct bolts and also if they can find a spare set, some non-VR6 rear axle hoses. Very very good customer service and knowledgeable chaps, I'm really impressed with them. Thumbs up C&R Enterprises :thumbleft:
