  1. Sounds good to me then. I won't use any unless I find an issue with the bottom end. :) Thanks for all your help guys.
  2. I have a freshly re-manufactured head, well two actually, I need to sell one but the head I'll use is perfect. With the block I always spend hours with a emery cloth and a sanding block getting the surface as clean as possible. So Kev, don't you think I'll need any copper spray? The gasket is genuine VAG too and I'll be using ARP studs.
  3. So what stuff did you use? The tub from Stealth or did you find a cheaper alternative? I'm struggling finding anything sub £20 in the UK - it's all american. How did you apply it? On the gasket? Or the bottom end? Both faces or? And is it a case of a think layer; wait fur it to tack then put the head on?
  4. Hello all, I'm going to be re-newing my headgasket on my VR6 soon and I'm going to use the later metal headgasket. Is there anything special I should know or be doing? I've heard of some people using a copper gasket sealant otherwise it can leak? Any info or help would be awesome. Thanks
  5. Thanks so much for the tips boys. That's one more thing off the list of things to do. :)
  6. Nice one guys! Loads of options then. As for the application though? Use sparingly? Loads? Wait for it to tack or tighten it wet?
  7. Thanks lads. Kevin, try and dig it out please. Also, what's the best application method for it?
  8. Hey you guuyyyysss! Regarding the top timing cover; I believe they don't have a gasket and you have to use sealant, can anyone recommend the best one to use? Thanks!
  9. But more broken means that there will be less on the road and good ones even more so; pushing the prices up. It happens to all cars that a sought after for their bits. Polo GT springs to mind. 5-7 years ago you could pick an excellent example for £250-£500. So loads got broken. Now-a-days you're talking £1000 minimum for a ****ter!
  10. I'm happy with that solution. I'm seeing Chris one night next week. PM'd
  11. Golf VR6 flywheel provisionally sold to Vag-hag.
  12. I was going to use SES (Sheffield engine services) on recommendation of a few friends, they said about £40 each. You want to collect it? Got my number right? Drop me a call or text.
  13. I'm going for a billet flywheel so my standard flywheels I have are up for sale. I was planning on getting these lightened. Ones from a 1997 OBD2 Golf VR6 and the other a 1994 Corrado VR6. Both have the same part number: 021 105 273 H - But the one from the OBD2 golf is 1kg lighter. £20 each plus £10 postage (due to the weight). Located in Sheffield for collection.
  14. In all fairness bargains are out there to be had, it just takes time and a lot of research. Something people can't be arsed to do so they are happy paying a premium for an easy buy - and quite frankly I've bought and sold items this way. I've never took the micky like this guy though. A good example is VR6 280mm brakes. They aren't worth much really £30-£50 maybe?; but G60 280mm go for £100+. People pay a premium for G60 brakes but little realise VR6 are identical bar the discs - but people still pay an extra £50+ for the G60's? Why? It's an easy buy and they can't be arsed to research. And the info is there, I've got bored of telling people. £300+ for some LHD headlights is just taking the micky though! Thing is, eBay prices are laughable, they just never ever sell. The 'enthusiasts' which **** me off are the ones who buy the last 10+ stock to either hoard for personal use or sell on for vast profit - it just makes fellow owners loose out for an individuals personal game.
  15. Go on then you cheeky scamp. Cover the paypal or gift it though pretty please. :camp: I'll PM you the details.
  16. No problem; although mine also has the traction control, well EDL - same as all Corrado's. :)
  17. No problem brother from another mother. PM'd
  18. You can have it. I've just checked the part number and it's actually 358 614 217, genuine VW/ATE part. VW updated their part numbers to start with 1HO for the VR6 at somepoint. Your part number supersedes mine but in all intents and purposes it's the same part. Mines from a Dec 1993 car, I presume yours will be a later car or your ABS pump has been renewed at somepoint? I know all VR6 got the same Teves 4 ABS system; so it'll work.
