Yeah it's just the stuff that requires ramps and lots of tools now
-
Any progress pictures Tom? :)
-
...and it's about time I got some update photos but it's looking a little messy at the moment (covered in grease etc) so I'll do it on Sunday :)

Progress is currently painfully slow. However, completing each job one at a time is quite satisfying in it's own little way. Earlier last week I had the car on a ramp and presumably where the car had been on axle stands having the chains done the underseal had been knocked and showed signs of peeling/surface rust. I made an attempt on the offside this afternoon... However, there was a small nick in the underseal (near the jacking point but unrelated) that on first glance looked minor but concealed a nasty 2x2 inch rust gash that was holding a small pocket of water and had slowly been eating into the bodywork  :( However, it's all treated now and primered and I just need to underseal. Hopefully I won't see anything that bad on the near side :gag: The brakes are being overhauled this weekend and the rear axle bushes are also being done at the same time. The plan is to have it being a completely overhauled car from what people saw at Stoner Park :) Total costs so far is around £650 so including the car we're at £2700. I could probably have got a minter VR6 for £3500 but this is more fun :)

I shall look forward to that soon then :D Still waiting for my member number so I can go on the CCGB forums etc :(
-
I bought a leather one 2 weeks ago so doubt it.
-
£450 with the Centre silencer, mine will probably only last this MOT :(
-
I did wonder why Dinkus asked me if I fancied 'pork' five times at that BBQ
-
Yup, all sorted. Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to give it a proper exterior clean since I got it but I hope to get it close to your level soon :D
-
Wow, good work :) and thanks for the advice on the handbrake grip, lol.

I'm currently (possibly) throwing a new setup into the mix; TT wiper arms and Lupo blades (with a slight bending of both arms) The only reason is because we didn't have enough TT wipers in stock, so I just ended up using the Lupo wipers that were already on the car :) The benefit of this is you don't need to chop any of the blades.

For those that'd like VR Speedlines but bigger! Discontinued

Oh dear, looks like keyhaywire will be getting another set of wheels soon  -
Unfortunately not, I'll be in France heading to Le Mans. But I'll drop you a PM when I get back :)
-
I can be without it for 3 days or so :) I can always drop it off and collect it as I have a second car :salute:
-
Shame it wasn't a little longer like the Top Gear one a few years back but not bad. Really nice example :)
-
I'm in Long Melford, so not a million miles away :) Maybe I could bring the wheel to you one day and give you some beer money for doing it? :D

http://fwd.five.tv/videos/coming-up-show-1 - Sure it's on this week :?
-
I'd filed down two already then I heard "I've got a bag of spare tumblers in my toolbox here..."
-
Where did you get the Scuttle Panel trim from? Looks good :salute:
-
 ...and I just told my Old Man to watch it to justify why I bought one
-
Yeah, I probably would've done the same in hindsight had I know how often these actually go. I was speaking to Kev about it today and he pulled out 3 broken ones from his toolbox  I couldn't believe it! Mine appeared to still be running the original cream version, which was suprising for a 158k mile car. Original part number and everything so not a GSF version either!
-
C...C...Cable Ties?!?!
-
The Steering wheel on my 158k VR is looking a little worse for wear on the leather and I don't fancy paying £440 for a new one :pale: I've seen more and more people on here rave about the new leather spray repair kits on there seat bolsters. But has anyone tried these kits on there steering wheels yet? I don't want to try it and find I have black hands every time I drive it

Can't really add anything on the wikipedia article other than make 100% sure you've got the smallest screwdrivers you can find, preferably Jewellers as they are perfect. Otherwise you would've wasted your time taking the car apart. It's not really as bad as it sounds to be honest, steering wheel, instrument cluster surround off, cowling off etc. The hard bit is getting to that tiny screw!
