  1. all sorted now. had slightly dislodged my sump gasket and the banjo blot on the charger was weeping. no more horrible oil smell whilst driving :)
  2. so its a 50/50 shot then as to which it is... will get the underside jetwashed before sump gasket is changed then i should know if i have fixed it and its not just old oil under there
  3. i have had it suggested that i may have done the crank seal. im hoping its just the gasket. the oils does seam to be coming from the gearbox side of the engine and spraying onto the crossmember by the front mount. have ruled out oil filter, cooler plate and temp/pressure senders and charger oil lines so only things left are sump gasket and crank seal in that case
  4. ah gotcha... will point the guys in this direction when i get it to them tomorrow. would the sump only leak when being driven?? i want to give them as much info as possible so as not to waste time them looking for other things to keep the labour costs down. dont suppose anyone has the part number for a crank seal should i need it??
  5. im getting it investigated tomorrow... hope it isnt that ---------- Post added at 09:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:16 PM ---------- is there any way of telling if it is my crank output seal?? i only seem to leak when the car is being driven.
  6. all seems good engine wise 9.5 bar on all 4 cylinders. think i dislodged my sump slightly when i clipped the remains of a bollard in a parking space
  7. compression checked it this morning 9.5 bar on all 4 cylinders, no issue there. looked at oil filter all appears good. leak is coming from somewhere there the gearbox meets the engine, there is a kink in the blanking plate by the sump. this leads me to believe i caught it the otherday and possibly moved the sump ever so slightly breaking the seal made by the gasket. the couple of bolts on that side i could get to were slightly lose, i shall hopefully be getting it to a garage tomorrow and get them to re seat the sump
  8. well im going to do a compression test tomorrow see what that throws up. and will be changing my oil filter as i think i damaged it fitting my inter cooler pipes. hopefully that will be the end of my issues. thought the breathing was normal, would a forced induction engine breathe more than a N/A one??
  9. hi guys, can a couple of g60 owners do me a favour. start your engine and pull the oil breather hose off the cam cover. do you get any 'blowing from here?? ive just been told that this is a sign of worn piston rings which may be the cause of my oil leak. i am sure my g60 has always done this but want to confirm others do it too.
  10. Mine has arrived. As the missus bought it as a Xmas present she has hidden it somewhere :( Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. The issue of oil on my gearbox is now sorted, turned out that one of the studs on my rocker cover was sitting too proud , i wound it back down and reseated the cover , all is now good on that front. the oil feeds are fine, i have routed them above my intercooler pipework so i can keep an eye on them. the banjo bolts are not weeping. the oil is coming from somewhere below the heat exchange sandwich plate, i get a feeling i may have damaged my oil filter when fitting my intercooler pipework, i have a new one that i shall be fitting in the morning. whilst im at it i shall be compression testing the engine to make sure a worn piston ring/valve seat isnt causing over pressure somewhere in the bottom end.
  12. Doesn't appear to be the braided hose but am still leaking oil somewhere on the front of the engine. It's lower than the head gasket but above the sump. Oil filter?? Any other areas that my leak?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Pm me what you have left Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Had my rocker cover off today and reseated the gasket, hope this sorts the oil leak issue. had a look at all the surrounding area at the same time, i have found what looks to be a hole in the inlet manifold although it isnt in the inlet path so shouldnt cause any issues, but shall source another for just incase. I am still wandering what else could cause me to lose so much oil (about 8 litres this week) and spray it across the top of my gear box. any other suggestions to this would be greatly received.
  15. Make an engineering drawing of it and any half decent engineering firm should be able to make one for you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Fitted the replacement charger today. But am still wasting oil from somewhere. I suspect it is coming from the back of my rocker cover, I shall wind the studs down a little further then re clamp it and see if that makes any difference. If not I will have to strip a lot out of the bay to find where the oil is coming from as i can smell it burning on the exhaust and it has covered the gear box. Also going to flares few more of the boost pipes as these seem to be holding in position now. Hope I solve everything tomorrow Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I have one but is in dire need of servicing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Hi guys does any one have a pipe beading tool I can acquire for a day or 2 so I can sort out my issues with blowing off boost pipes. Preferably in the Poole/Bournemouth area but can travel or meet someone. Will provide beer tokens for your troubles. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Went to fill up today after some long trips this weekend. Checked the MFA... 450 miles exactly @ 35.3 MPG. thought my fuel gauge was under reading a little... that equates to 12.7 gallons used, still have about 3 gallons left in the tank too. Even at 20 years old a corrado can still hit the figures quoted by VW and have some extra left over.... Kind of makes up for the disappointment of sunday
  20. Thanks for the advice. Only issue I foresee is getting the pulley off the new charger as its a 78mm one. Am thinking some big grips and lots of brute force. The pulley should come off the existing charger easy enough as I put plenty of copper slip on it before fitting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Just the answer I was after. Am using my phone atm so google searches were rubbish. Will keep that link for when I rebuild the stage 4 one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Those of you who saw my G60 at stealth will no doubt know my charger is a little poorly. I have sourced a factory standard one straight out of refurb and need to get it fitted asap I have a Bentley manual and it seems straight forward. Is there anything to watch out for whilst doing it?? 23. After working my ass off to install the TD5 intercooler before the RR day, I was most disappointed that the pipework didn't hold up to get a reading. I spat the pipe just after Oxford on my way home. With no tools to get to the pipe I bit the bullet and carried on home. My oil warning light came on a mile from home. The next day I completely stripped the pipes and assessed the situation. My charger is on its way out and spewing a lot of oil, service kit is on its way from Germany. I then went looking for a replacement. I found a freshly serviced factory standard one in Salisbury which is now in my possession and shall be fitted as soon as I get time. Pics will be added later.
  24. looking a fair amount less than that... want to rebuild mine if i can help it... am half tempted by the one on ebay that requires building too. may have now sourced one about 40 miles away from me, just been rebuilt too all standard tho
