A friend of mine bought the car a few years ago as an automatic with gearbox and engine issues for about 1200. He ripped the engine out overhalled it and put a manual box in. Quite a fair bit of work. Once he was finished he realised he had no facility to complete the paint work as it was tired and needed tlc. He sold it to a good friend of mine for £1200, (Good lad but, he has managed to f*&k up with numbers on this one as he spent a couple of thousand on engine box and running gear as well) The next owner (good mate) was planning to sort the paintwork and I was going to buy it from him for £3250. His plan was to get my father-in-law to paint it and he would prep it. 1 hour in to starting the paintwork he realized he had bit of more than he could chew as it needed welding and much more than he first thought. (I had not even seen the car at this point) He rang me up to say he had made a mistake and was going to break it for parts to get his money back. Unfortunately I had just sold my mk2 16v I had claimed from the scrapheap the previous year to pay for the Corrado. So I made the trip to see the car to see how bad it was. I have more history with paintwork as you can see above. I could not let it to go scrap (which is why I got the Golf above) So I decided to book a week of work and I bought the car for £1200 and sorted the welding and painted the car. I did the prep work and father in law coated it in paint. Then once back on the road went to original speedlines, then decided to sell them and go for whats on now, they sit wide so I had to lop the inner arch and lift the suspension up a few inches to fit them in. I have just put in a full grey leather interior after a long road trip. Now I need to put a better exhaust and suspension on. Its running coilovers which are not that uncomfortable however when I hit bumps they have a lot of travel which why it sits high. I dont know if its because they are cheaper coilovers and that why the travel on them is high. So there you go, There are more pictures on my profile and more to follow of the interior and engine. I have just had some shot blasting work completed and it looks better than new

Don't mention the heater controls sorting those so I can blow air towards my face is still a job to do. Arghhh Cheers for the advice on the shocks though guys. Will stick a few photos of the project on today.

Sounds good. Cheers. Can get a set of four for £100 on eBay from genuine supplier. Was just surprised by the price that's all.

What do we think of these. Are they any good. They advertise as OE equipment. Just wanted to know if anyone has used them before and what their thoughts were as to quality.

I have seen one ages ago but not found it again since and can't remember the make. I have been putting it off for ages as I wanted a flat one and I can't find it. I have been looking at a kenwood 4551u. Which has dab as well as USB and iPhone port for £140. Which is not too bad at all. It does not look too modern and does not have lots of silver and silly lights. It's just they bug me sticking out as the dash is quite flat that all. Cheers for all the advice though.

I have had a look but it still looks like it sticks proud of the dash. Have had alpine before and the quality is very good though.

Hi guys. Am looking for the right stereo in my corrado vr6. I want something that looks a little retro and not overly flashy and in keeping with age of car. But most important is that it sits flush and does not stick proud which seems the most common problem. I cant be the only one this specific so was hoping someone had come a cross this before.
-
Not sure of make they are not too old and on it when bought. They seem creaky and don't fill me with confidence. Probably not the most expensive.
-
Apparently the ones to replace on golfs and corrado are the rear beam bushes. The rest make it a harder drive. I did them on my golf mk2 and will get round to them on raddo at some point.

Hi. Am replacing my coilovers as not a fan of them and am looking at proper shocks and springs. I have found a German company on eBay that do them for good price. They are slightly lowered. Anyway the make of them are TA Germany. Has anyone come a cross these before and are they any good. They are advertised as TUV approved. Cheers for the help

Wheel advice Re staggered offset and wheel choice
Human Joist replied to Human Joist's topic in Exterior
Cheers mate they go on with a 10mm spacer, just. 13 mmwould be better but it sticks out quite a bit so think would need to do all 4 so the fronts would not stick out more than rears. It's not been lowered too much so hope to get away with it. But think I will have to sort arch rolling. -

Think I will have to try the spacer though as its what suppliers and manufacturing company suggest next. They plan on swapping et25 for 15 if the 10mm spacer works. But will have to try again to orrow when spacer arrives. -

After all the advice I ordered the Dare DR-RS 16x8 with offset et25, cracking looking wheel. Fitted a nice set of 205/40/16's yokahammas. Rears look great. Fronts won't go on as they foul on the calliper. Back to phone calls to supplier to see what they reckon. Apparently VR6's had more than one sort of calliper and some wheels fit one and not the other? First I heard that. ...... They are sending through a 10mm spacer for the front to see if that cures fault then decide what to do with wheels. Has anyone come accross this before am sure someone on here will and what was the outcome. Cheers to help so far -
Will take pics tomorrow when light and get them on. Mine are 16x8 et25. But offset is not right for front yet. Spacers on the way. If you look on revolutions website you will see them. Mine are silver with polished dish and gold nuts.

Have a look at Dare DR-RS. They come in 16x8 or 9. But 9 is big. I have just got some. They look the part. Just having a teething issue with fronts catching calliper. Picture to follow shortly

Well they quoted with 195/45/16. I take it you would suggest a 205/45/16 then. -

Bristol baron. Cheers for that. I take it I will get away without modifications to car as the reply seemed confident.
