I know he said 4 doors, but nothing to stop you from having 2 spare doors in the boot :) Sorry couldn't stop myself!

Fitted my rear speakers (many thanks to Kip), all is well now. I'm not too crazy about the sound in my car, but it's nice to have some background fill coming from the back.

Look spot on to me, most important thing it's wide lens and that you can easily read reg plates of the cars. Camera is ebay "special" called SmartCam, quick check show they do now SmartCam 2 edition. Not sure what's that about. If you check my earlier post here, there's a link to RW1 review of the camera. I have it connected through USB in my car stereo - it simply starts recording as soon as you provide power to it (aka switch-on ignition). You have to remember if doing it through USB you need to convert USB data into USB power only.. and you do that with this: ebay link. If you don't use that little cable it ill put your camera into a "storage mode" so that you can copy data from it instead of recording - like connecting it to PC. Alternatively you can connect it directly to lighter socket and it will do exactly the same without that red cable.

Elsecar Mega Meet + Rallye Golf Show 2013
guildmage replied to macvwnut's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Show was great... maybe except the cold spell. It took me a while to de-frost myself heh. Many thanks for the hosts, curry meal, after-party and the whole lot. It was nice meeting new people too. Also grats to Darren - car looks amazing! Need more shows, sunny weather and bank holidays now :) Here's few pictures from me: More pictures available here: 2013/04 Elsecar Mega Meet -
Whats the size of the pictures and how many of them?

My problem with higher end of in-car camera is that I would be afraid to leave it in my car overnight, etc... Having a cheapo at least I have this peace of mind. To be honest, I would be more angry of having smashed window than a stolen camera. I like the idea of, helmet mounted camera, as Emu mentioned. This would be ace for snowboarding, bike raiding, etc... The one I am using is no good for such things.

Well, I'm running cheap and plasticky camera from fleebay. Got myself interested in one after having too many near misses and also after reading this post, by RW1, on our forum: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?69121-8v-Bites-The-Dust-Ali-Knockout-Punch!&p=852577#post852577 It's nothing amazing. No whistles, it's cheap but does the job for me. Never had problems with it. When I start my engine it starts recording when I remove my car keys, it stops. It records in continuous mode... and well that's about it. Here's example video: Ah and it's attached on velcro in my car, like so: I'm sure nowadays you can either get smaller camera or/and with better picture/sound... but then can't expect miracles from a £30 camera ^^ I think the main downside is the fact it looks super cheap but footage is quite decent so it never really bothered me. Hope it helps.

Sorry I didn't check it. I was too busy with work this week. I will be poking around this weekend to look for these shields. My clutch pedal also drops when engine is running (after a while). But it is very intermittent... One day I am trying to make it to happen and it won't. The other it will just drop out of nowhere. Everyday I drive I have to think about it constantly it just takes away the pleasure of drive. I'm a bit at the crossroads now... I'm still considering going for dealer part (assuming I can get the part and the part will fit) in a bid to fix this, if it won't work, then I may have to reconsider my options...

I keep leaving my lights on,!!! Help me Out.
guildmage replied to Michael'durham''s topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Hehe, i did the same, happened to me in first week of ownership. Then it happened again few weeks later. Ever since that i always check the switch before i leave the car and also look back from the outside just to double check. Its a bit annoying but kinda get used to it by now :) Someone said that before, VW managed to give us raising spoiler and heated mirrors but somehow they forgot about light buzzer and cup holder. go figure ^^ -
Thanks for heads up. My mechanic claims he rang most of these websites, GSF, Eurocarparts and usual stuff. Only place he thinks he can get it is either VW dealer (which is almost 3 times the price of the pattern part) or second-hand. I would go with dealer but I cannot see how replacing master clutch could help with my issue? It would surely stop my clutch pedal staying on the floor (on the odd occasion) but would it help in 1st gear selection, maybe? I'm a noob really so I'm totally depended on others opinion/advice. Can you get this part from any other car (Passat, Golf or is it unique to Corrado?) Now, on a bit of a joke'y side of the story. Is that what it makes car a classic? You first wait +20 years to get rid of 50% of the cars through accidents, heavy usage, rust, etc... Then you make every possible part obsolete (so that the ones that can be fixed are changing status into breakers). And then once you left with

To keep it simple I do have problems selecting first gear. Gear change is "notchy". Sometimes it will not go into the gear at all (like there is something there stopping the gear lever). Usually depressing clutch and pressing it again fixes the problem. Sometimes I just have to do it twice or so. In the unlikely scenario it will not go at all and have to set of from 2nd gear. As you can imagine at traffic lights it's nightmare :( On top of that every now and then (very rarely) my clutch pedal will not go back. I can lift it back with the foot and then it's fine. So far I have replaced Clutch Slave cylinder (it stopped clutch pedal on the floor to happen so often), and I had 3 times gear linkage adjusted. Every time it was slightly better/different but never perfect. I also checked and "circlip" is in place. I was told by mechanic that replacing clutch master cylinder may help as there is something wrong if my clutch pedal can sometimes end up on the floor. So booked my car into the garage, and it turned out that nobody can source Master clutch cylinder! I was told it's VW dealer (£145) + vat + labour ... which makes this a very expensive replace. Now if I knew it was Master cylinder, I'll dish out money and will get it sorted but what are the chances of this being the culprit? Problematic is only first gear, all rest of the gear including reverse are dream to select, etc... Am I missing something? I'm happy to spend money and replace old with new... but going on a hunt chase like that will cost me ££££s and I may still end up with same problem.. Thanks for any feedback

There is also a sticky in Exterior section about TT mod: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?26056-TT-Wipers-(arms-amp-blades) I'm using TT mod, and it's been brilliant ever since. Uprated headlight loom and uprated wipers are simply two best-ever mods you can do to your Corrado.

I have exactly the same problem. My driver side window, sometimes refuses to work. I have been testing this extensively and I have ruled out cable, motor and/or switch problems. I can also hear clicking. On odd occasion opening/closing passenger window few times, makes driver side to work again. Only thing left to replace is that electric window module, me thinks. Looking forward to your module checking. Not sure if that helps but I never had problems with this... it's started to misbehave after I replaced my hacked door membranes. Lot's of internet research suggest window module to be the problem.

I believe you can use something along the lines of: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PC2-805-Volkswagen-Speaker-Adaptor-Lead-Cable-Stereo-CD-/150566801843?ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:3160 You may find this item much cheaper somewhere else thought.

Almost exactly the same happened to me. Car would just kangaroo like mad. Fault was with the in-tank fuel pump. When this happened, my under-car-fuel-pump was super loud like struggling to shift the fuel or so. Once the one in-tank was replaced problem was fixed instantly. As a short and quick fix I was told to drive with full tank as it helps pumps to operate properly. Not sure how true that is but it helped me to drive car for over a week like that.

hm, I'm bit speechless. Looked at the "location" and wanted to add something .. but then thought, nah I'm better than that :) ... we should have a sticky "Monstrosity of the month", I bet this would get quite high.

Not sure if it's any relevant (being VR6 guide) but it's available so worth having a look: http://wiki.the-corrado.net/category_engine_bay.html

New here - buying a rado, 2.0 or vr6? mpg diff question.
guildmage replied to Smiithy's topic in Newbies Hangout
Depends also what sort and where you will be driving. My 16v 2.0 is giving me 20-30mpg on longer journeys but then 90% of my driving is to get me to and back from work = which means I'm stuck in traffic most of time. My mpg shows then usually at about 10-15mpg ^^ Yeah I know, just get a small Corsa for such driving but then I can only ever see one Corrado on my way to work... and yes that is my Corrado. I do a bit regret getting 16v, should have gone for VR6 in first place. MPG wise is pretty much the same (ish)... not sure how it is with maintenance and reliability but tbh I do seem the same amount of posts/problems with both cars. They ARE reliable cars if you are willing to spend some money on them. ps. and seriously this is no joke... once you get Corrado, petrol costs are least of your problems! ^^
