In my opinion any modded G60 needs a low final drive ratio. It helps to prevent wheel spinning and feel the G60 torque engine. The best original G60 gearbox that i´ve found so far is the ATB one.

Are you mates complaining about Corrado reliability? I guess i wasn´t very lucky with my 1st G60, but now i´m on my 2nd one. I own it for 1 year and i have only replaced the water pump, and yes... It´s my daily driver! I´ve done about 22.000Km this year. It´s easy to get 200hp from a G60, having in mind its price and equipment, i think it´s a good car. I´ll do my best not to sell it one day!

OK! :) I´m going to take a look at the Bentley Manual to see what´s involved in getting the engine out...
-
I´m thinking to strip down the complete car by myself. Of course it also includes all the interior. About the engine bay... I wouldn´t like to remove the engine. Maybe i can tell the body shop guy just to clean/degrease the engine bay and paint over it till where the paint gun can reach? Thanks for the help guys! :)

Get your lovely Violet G60 JET Back! :)

Well, i´ve been saving up for a respray since the first day i bought it. The original colour is Flash Red, and to be honest i don´t like it very much. I bought it, because it was a very good deal, and the car really runs great! I spoke with the body shop guy about changing the car´s colour. He said that it´s no problem. He will de-polish the whole car and then apply any other colour that i may want. Is this the correct way to do it? I´m affraid to get some chicken spots with the years (on the car! LoL), which is very easy to get at the front. I heard about some sand jets to remove the whole paint, but it sounds like a large amount of money... And that body shop doesn´t do it. I would like to know your opinons on this kind of job, as it´s the first time i´m going to paint one of my cars. Any good / bad experiences with this? I´m tempted to go for the brilliant black metallic, quartz metallic or moonlight blue. :) Cheers in advance!

I have tried this fuel before. It only worth in G60´s if you want to set your iginition timing up without getting any knocking/pinking specially in summer time. I´ve done it, and honestly and don´t got much impressed with it against 98RON. I guess that 98RON fuel is the one to go for... :)

Rustynuts, What colour is this Corrado? Tornado Red of Flash Red? It looks very nice! :)

Yeah, just be sure to get some German quality stuff. Afterall that´s what makes our Corrado´s different from the others! :)

I discovered this week that it was a dody connection on the ABS plugs near each top mount! Try to open the bonnet, disconect them and give them a spray with some contact cleaner. It worked with me in the same moment! :)
-
That must be a dodgy electrical connection somewhere. Because even of you have a defective ABS unit, it´s not connected to the same interior circuits. Several faulty relays is almost impossibe too... So i guess you need to get a multimeter and track the connections.

It depends on how many miles you run of course. I remember some time ago, someone else asking about this... I guess that Darren said that some PTFE spray every 2 months is OK! Please correct me if i´m wrong. Anyway this is one of the reasons that don´t make me a fan of the boost return mod. I like to know that the charger is always lubed with some oil, and so i don´t have to worry about the PTFE spraying... Does it worth? I have never drove a car without the boost return deleted. Do you notice anything apart from the woosh sound?

Stupid question about cleaning engine when replacing units
kongo127 replied to Son of a Beesting's topic in Engine Bay
I think that i know what you mean. I always replace them with new ones (if not expensive) or just clean them up with a copper brush, like the ones you use to clean the spark plugs. Using a brush like this one won´t offend the parts. :) -
Avoid 100W bulbs! They will heat up your headlights, and burn the inside reflectors... We also have 130W bulbs here in PT, of course they´re illegal! I´m running the Phillips 50% brighter bulbs, they´re OK along with a headlight uprated loom.

Shell Helix Semi-Synthetic 15W-40 all the way! :) I have always used this oil on my cars, never had any engine issue!
-
Have you checked the gearbox speedo sender? It could be a dodgy connection, or the sender to be replaced! Keep posting! :)

Was the Corrado the first car to have...............
kongo127 replied to Bojmobile's topic in General Car Chat
First one to get fully electrical ABS? -
I had a similar issue. The ABS light came on every now and then. When i start driving it was OK, then after a bump the light was coming on. I inspected the wiring and found no damages, so i disconected the sensor and gave a good clean with some spray. It doesn´t come on for almost a month, so i guess i´m sorted... :)

Welcome then mate! :) I also have a house in the Algarve, so i guess that we can meet. I´m currenlty in Lisbon area. I´ll add you to my MSN for now! :)

Am i missing something? :) Are you still around here mate???

The Corrado Knowledge base is very useful! Click here for gear ratios: http://www.the-corrado.net/wiki/index.p ... des_etc%29
-
That´s it flusted! You´ve got an AYN gearbox! Those boxes came mostly in 1991 G60´s IIRC...
-
I would like to have a POLL for the gearboxes that we are all using, including a place for the custom ones. Moderators? Is this possible? :)
-
I also get wheelspin very easliy with my standard G60 (CBA). What i really notice regarding the previous one (ATB) is that the ATB gearbox gives you much more torque sensation rather than the CBA. I believe it´s due to their final ratios, that are completly the opposite! With the CBA the car revs much more faster, but i don´t get the same top speed than the ATB gearbox. If i remember correctly the ATB gearbox has a pretty similar final drive to the VR6 (don´t remember what build year). I wish i could get one in good shape! I´m currently running my G60 standard due to fuel prices and for that stuppid and dangerous wheelspining while overtaking. The shock absorvers and clutch are good and the tires are ok aswell. LSD sounds like a nice alternative, but expensive...

I would love to see a picture of that beauty! :) I´m pretty sure that the clunk sound is the front engine mount deffective.
