last month i got two 15.64's (fmic, full exhaust,no-cat,panel filter 17"wheels) today after fitting a PP head and piper 285 cam i managed only 15.87 and fitted 15" wheels from what the tickets say i had a quicker start but slower top end from 94mph to 88mph (av) the head was a stage 2 and isn't the maximum ported but significant enough, but i have only seen a drop of 1-2 psi on my guage is that right? also the cam seems good, still pulls well to 4k and then it flys (sort of like the hondas vtec to 6.8k) now as i said the car hasn't been remapped and will most proberbly improve when daz get his mits to it again. so the question i am actually asking is the head and cam possibly equate to about 20bhp (posibbly  )and i fitted smaller wheels, why is it slower??????????

cheers boys, i do have an A/F guage and it was reading between lean and stoich, but when i filled up i had to get bloody 95ron, boooo so put addative with it now its stoich to low rich, idle has been sorted now as i was a little low, the problem i now have it if i give the car some rev's (i.e floor it 1st to 2nd, i'm hearing strange bangs sound like from the exhaust and sometimes evens bang like gunshots scared some people in the high street, now while it's funny and cool i know this is not good WHATS HAPPENING, as i though bangs were unburnt fuel which leads to it overfulling not under. p.s did it also before i added to additive, please help as am planning to go santa pod tomorrow or should i cancel??

had my stage 2 head and piper 285 cam fitted to my G60, all is well and running fine, but someone asked me did i re-map it, i said not just set it up, does it need to be re-mapped, will my car get damaged as it is or can i wait the month till i gets more work done (charger and pulleys)
-
mine doesn't fit ok, knocks constantly, tried to resolve but can't gonna heat and bend the pipe some time, all brackets bar the center one fitted but something on the underneath of the 16v is different to the 8v sure its the fuel tank or sumit

fitted my autometer monster tacho today, but it's not working properly. i've connected the 12v pos, neg and light to the same as my other dials and the coil one to the same as the original rev wire symptons: irratick idle my shift light is like a disco, even though it's set at 6.4k once driving it seems fine but as soon as you hit 4k the needle shoots off past 8k, now the standard gti tacho is looking fine, whats happening?? could it be my coil getting old and my vw tacho isn't as sensitive as the autometer
-
i got a TSR one fitted perfectly, they just didn't give me enough exhaust wrap so had to order more other than that it's fine
-
yeah tell me about it
-
will it be ok for the 25mile drive to work tomorrow

problem solved, my head gasket has now given up the ghost, theres a small white layer on the oil cap (no mayo YET), nothing in the header tank,is the gasket just started going or has it gone full stop and can't use the car or can i drive the car but watch the water level?? (just for a few days till i sort a ride)

i want to put one of those in the rear of my mk1 cabby

g60 all the way, you can get to a respectable speed with only putting your toe on the accelerator pedal and have the boosted power to use when you need it, mpgs not to bad as again you don't have to floor the pedal, but yes have the money for a rebuild unless it has recently been serviced
-
sorry how much cash££
-
hows that?? sorry don't get it
-
ah ha, yes the pipes do go really hard quick, and there is a little water spitting out of the back, (nothing like a rover though), lucky i have a new gasket set from VW awaiting fitment this week, fingers crossed
-

-
i'll check the rad as it was a 2nd hand rallye one that came with the i/c, will also check the plastic bit again but seen no residue on it

wheres my water coolant going?? replaced all hoses for samcos both metal pipes header tank + cap radiator all new hose clips, no drips under car nor in the car yet it still leaks from the max to the min on a 30mile trip

have some pics but can't post as can't do it! it cost me £30 from HSL racing aircooled company, seen at most aircooled shows watch this space and i'll try to work out how to post pics
-
bought a little fuel pressure guage, that is just put in between the fuel pipe but which hose do i put it into, either: pipe from pump to fuel pressure reg or pipe leaving fuel rail going back to tank
-
bottom end is standard for the next few months, still weighing up different ideas
