aaarrrgh, lol. have sent the link to the garage to see if it is right as they know exactly what is needed. they spoke to vw and said the one i need is the 300 quid one, but there is a two week wait. might just have to swallow it and pay. thanks again for your help mate, i'll let you know the outcome after the garage has seen the link. regards, max,

Think i might have found one mate, just to confirm, to your knowledge is this an engine loom, as it looks different to the last one i purchased and to my eyes looks like the engine specific loom? might email the link to the garage and then he can check himself. your help as always is appreciated, cheers. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mk3-GOLF-VR6-ENGINE-WIRING-LOOM-OBD2-/280879873024?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4165bebc00

Ok just spoke to heritage and without a part number they are unsure which loom i need, i was quoted £305 for one, whcih i think is it as teh other was £900. is there any way of locating the part number so i'm sure i'm asking for the right bit mate, i'm just going to buy the bloody thing if it is the £300 pound one, at least i know it'll be right then. won't be on for sunday though. any info would be apprecited mate, thanks again.

Hey mate, thanks for getting back to me, again, lol. I'm just a bit hesitant to go on ebay as i've just been burned for £75 quid and people do not seem able of distinguishing between looms. sod it i might just buy it from vw if its that price, was thinking it might be grands. i'll call them now to see. thanks again mate, your a star. max,

Hey guys, having a total nightmare with this obd2 conversion. sourced anougher wiring loom from ebay last week which when arrived still didn't include the bloody engine wiring loom, was only the fuse box loom if that makes sense. at a total loss now as i don't know whereto source one and i'm sure volkswagen will want about a trillion quid to purchase one new, thinking that might be my only option. if anyone knows of one or where to get one i would be eternally grateful as without i'm stuck. garage has had to refitt my old loom in order for me to make the national day on sunday. any help, or pointers would be massivly appreciated as i'm almost out of ideas now. just going to send a rather ****y message to the bloke off ebay now....gggrrrrrrrr. max,

M5/M4/South west convoy to national day
Bs6VR6 replied to Swompy's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Why is it never easy, this bloody car just fights me all the way!!! New loom arrived, still minus the engine loom, so a total waste of money, bloke off ebay clearly didn't know what he was on about. but at least she'll be there, just minus obd2 and exhaust goodies. quick question to those in teh convoy my dad wants to come with a couple of his work mates, was hoping he could drive in convoy with us and bring up the rear, should be funny as his workmates own teh ex dirty sanchez gumball 3000 vw transporter and will be coming down in this, if anyone has any objections just say but thought it could be a quirky addition to the corrado train, lol. hope all is good and i'll see you guys sunday, cheers, max, -

Hey guys, bit dejected today, the other loom i bought of ebay was again missing the engine loom, gutted. garage is going to remove what they fitted and put her back to standard so i will be making it, just sadly without obd2 or any new exhaust stuff:bonk: pretty miffed now as i've no idea where to get one and this obd2 copnversion is getting quite expensive now. but at least i'm going in the rado...... -

Jesus this is getting tight, exhaust arrived today, no sign of the manifold yet, and at present she's sat in the garage with effectivly no wiring, new loom SHOULD be getting there tomorrow, i'm doing my nut down in cornwall praying she'll be ready, whilst trying not to infuriate the garage to much by constantly calling......I will be gutted if she isn't ready. fingers crossed guys. max, -

I'm in. only live up in portishead and have been for the last four years with a group of mates. its a brilliant show. is there any way of me camping with my group but leaving the car with you lot, popped over last year and although the quality of your cars was far better than mine, it would be nice for it to be with some others. oh just out of interest CazzaVR, my missus lives in Charfield, don't suppose yours is on the left hand side as you drop down the hill into charfield opposite the pear tree pub, only i see one there on the drive everytime i go to see her and when i saw wotton under edge a lightbulb went off, lol. -
Mate, your a legend, thanks for getting back so quickly, i'm trying to relay information back to the garage in bristol from a laptop i deepest cornwall, not the sort of stress you need before a night shift, lol. I'm hoping the first issue can be resolved now, and as for the cutting of the crank sensor wire, that is a real pain, hopefully it is after the sensor and they can reuse my existing obd1 wire. otherwise a new sensor it is, which is making this rather more expensive than i hoped for, but it always seems the way, lol. Hope i've got all the above correct, wait back and see what they say. thanks again, max,

Hey guy,s was hoping i could tap into your wealth of knowledge to get me out of a fix. recently purchased an obd2 set up off one of the members on this forum, all was good untill the garage went to try and fit it last week, apparently there are some bits mising and i need help getting it resolved. From what they said to me the main issues are that the obd port is missing and that the crank sensor wire has been cut. they have phonned the local breakers to no avail so my questions are as follows. and apologies if they seem a tad ignorant can a new obd port be purchased seperatly, if so how much? I'm assuming you can't use the existing one? Can you just re splice the crank sensor wire or use the crank sensor from the original setup? They are on about trying to make one good loom from what they have but will this create running issues between the two systems? any advice would be grateful as the cars in limbo at the moment and i want her back for the weekend ideally. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. Max, P.s. read through many many pages on obd2 using the search and couldn't find anything relating to these issues.
