  1. Hi everyone! after reading through 6 pages of arguments on whether the Toyo Proxies are crap or not on the corrado i got bored of the supposed *tyre guide sticky* all i want to know is what you currently have and whether you like them or not! what is the best tyre you have had for the car in your opinion? im not after a discussion just straight answers so it doesnt turn into an arguement like the other thread! i did want to set this up in a poll style but it doesnt seem to have the option when creating the thread...... cheers in advance,
  2. Yayyy!!! That was me :D Lost you in the traffic jam, or did you turn off before then, hard to concentrate with my sister yabbering in my ear; "You didn't just flash that red Corrado did you?!" wehey! glad its was someone on here, knew it had to be though! the traffic was a git wasnt it! i noticed the crappy civic pull out in front of you and then i was gone! i didnt pull off until J31 at Sheffield, picking up my more reliable daily runner! i have to say your car looks mint! i bet you ahve spent a lot of time and money on it to get it looking like that? i was wondering what mods you had under the bonnet at the time and whether you were going to floor it at one point!
  3. northbound on the M1 today at about 2.30pm, grey M reg VR6 with m3 in-pro's and some nice wide split rims......... followed you for quite some distance past J20 area nearly all the way to sheffield! gave you a wave and flash of the indicators and you waved back...... 8) anyone?
  4. sounds about right, my exhaust is knackered! the cat is rattling like mad! need to get it decated!
  5. when you say its set on its own between two relay's do you mean the two bigger silver relays that are almost tucked up behind the dash above the main relay box? will have to check that out! cheers,
  6. HELP!!! just before christmas i had a problem occur where i went to crack the passenger window open and it opened by about 1 inch and then stopped. i thought to my self, hmm.... i wonder if the driver's side is ok? i gave that a go and that window started to open but then it stopped about half way down! basically at this point nothing went up and nothing went down, it was bloody freezing and driving around wasnt fun at all as you can imagine. anyway, i managed to get the driver side window up by using some cable to bridge the connections but this didnt work for the passenger side so i had to gaffer tape that up! had a mate look at it for me who had a funky little device that he connected directly to the battery and then the motor and the passenger window went up. what we have figured out so far is the actuators are fine otherwise the windows wouldnt go up or down at all. there is some power to the window switches as i get a current when testing it with a test lamp and the lights on the switches also illuminate. as well as the windows going funky the central locking also stopped working at the same time but the alarm and the immobiliser still arms as per usual. basically this is as far as i have got and im now totally stuck as to what to do next?! its doing my nut a bit as well as the car is de-locked and im having to lock the car manually and then climb in through the boot whenever i go shopping! if you have any suggestions your reply's would be greatly appreciated! thanks,
  7. spotted a dark blue one with graphite colour BK split rims in Leicester on the ring road last friday. i was on a roundabout travelling westbound and you were waiting to join, gave you a beep and i think you spotted me........ my car was quite brown at the time!
  8. anyone got any ideas what the readings should be if the car MFA is showing it in psi or pascals? :? (for a stage 2 charger) cheers,
  9. does anyone have a link to the thread with what the boost readings should be? im having a few issues and have been looking at the service screen for boost readings but im not sure what they are supposed to be and what rpm's the test is done at? i take it is at 6k in 3rd and 4th from what it says here? the other thing is mine seems to read in psi or pascals cos its a proper german one...... :?
  10. griff, point me in the direction of your car bra! i want one seeing as the winter is in and its just had a respray :) steve, how much are they? i take it i get em from darren?
  11. needing help now.... after having the car back on the road for 2 months now and replacing the accelerator (sp) cable and the fan switch in the radiator the car is running pretty damn well but...... ever since fitting the new charger and running it in correctly i find that when i put my foot down it feel like the car isnt going as quick as it should! to ad to this i find that sometimes, but not all the time, if i keep my foot to the floor the car suddenly gets an extra bit of a power surge from about 5k rpm up to the red line....... now from memory it used to pull well up to 5k and then tail off so im now feeling confused as hell. :? plus i dont want to keep flooring it right to the red line as i know that it increases the chances of throwing scroll seals! i have had all the boost pipes off, removed the intercooler and flushed it out, cleaned the butterflies in the throttle body, put a fuel system cleaning additive into the petrol tank and i have been running it on 99RON for hte past 2 weeks but with no change....... :( im now pretty stuck an in need of more ideas of others in the know a bit more.... the only other thing that i think it may be is the black plastic chamber that attaches to the charger appears to be releasing some oil vapour onto the fan housing on the front side of the unit... would it affect the performance that dramatically though? your thoughts would be greatly appreciated :)
  12. nearly mangled one today by accident coming onto the A14 (J9) eastbound at Kettering.... got a bit excited as its the first one that i have seen since getting mine back on the road about 2 months ago and realised almost as it was too late that i had run out of slip road! it was black with nice shiny alloys, lowered, in-pro's and what looked like a reiger body kit and a very loud exhaust! reg: K*** OCR anyone?
  13. give it a go ;) always worth a try!
  14. fitted my G-lader back to the car after its inspection! lots of F's and C's due to a bugger of a spring tensioner but i got there in the end!
  15. lots of the F and C words were used by me and my mechanic mate!
  16. Neil, you will lucky mate! i couldnt shift it into place with all my body weight on a pole pushing the cradle down! in the end i had to use a massive jaw with a long arm on it to pivot the whole cradle enough for it to just squeeze over! definately a 2 man job!
  17. Gotta love the US-UK language divide ;) Uprated mean they've had the 'stage 2' and a boob job too? ;) Nadia? LMAO!!
  18. its easier to just use a small jubilee clip and one of the allen bolts that join the airbox to the charger to plug it and clamp the bolt tight for the rubber oil pipe......... then for the braided one, remove the whole braided hose and use the bolt thats originally for the rubber oil feel into the charger for the right hand side of the rocker cover and then plug that with another small allen bolt and jubilee clip...... make sure you keep all spare bits in a box tho cos come fitting your gonna need em all again ;) the belt should be the same as the golf 8v but length depends on whether you have aircon or not so make suer you mention it when buying ;)
  19. sounds about right! mine had el cheapo top bearings which i had just had replaced to be on the safe side!
  20. yep i can vouch for this too! my car ran fine without a charger but it was slow as hell! fitted mine back on it this evening and wow what a difference! my bit of DIY pipework was interesting tho! i just got some aluminium ducting from a motorfactors and kind of jubilee'd it together  forgot what it was like as i havnt driven the car properly in a few years and then the last few weeks i have driven it without the charger so i was happy with the way it drove after fitting 8) just have to bed it in a bit now tho as i have had a few bits replaced my the top man who goes by the name of Darren ;) 8) Darren, any tips on getting the belt tensioner spring back onto its spindle when re-fitting as it was a bugger to do? took about 30 mins!!! cheers,
  21. glad its all sorted mate :D i got mine back from darren today and have finished fitting it about an hour ago 8)
  22. basically its been an ongoing saga over the past few years where their newly rebuilt chargers have grenaded after 500-1500 miles and then telling the customer to sod off! the one i just bought off someone on Ed38 was rebuilt by jabba but i have just had a more reputable company look at it..... apparently it had non branded el cheapo top bearings so i had them changed pronto along with a few other bits! Alex
  23. not too serious then...   Alex
  24. cheers guys! im well pleased with the outcome! gotta take it back in 4-6 weeks to give it another buff and its sorted 8) Alex
