  1. Do you hear the pumps activating when you turn the key before actually firing the engine up?
  2. Maybe and maybe not. I think you can have a few different variations of symptons when the bypass valve is on its way out. I know with mine I still got hot air when driving but went cold when i pulled up. Then if I turned the heat off for 5mins and turned it on again I got hot air for a min or so. For £40 I took a chance and changed it and it solved the problem. Also one other time I had hot air problems it was just the air vent on the near side by the scuttle panel had got clogged up with leaves and I cleaned it up and problem solved.
  3. Aye they've gone up a bit, but it's not too bad over here. £45 an hour max unless your taking it to some boy who thinks he's an F1 mechanic. :D
  4. I have tilt handles on both sides, but no recaro logo on the back.
  5. I was just quoting for labour, sorry ! That was what youd pay over here anyway. I guess England is more expensive. (I paid £50 a few years ago)
  6. I really think you just need a new bypass valve. If you go to get one though let me know what your dealer says cos Ive had mine on back order for about 3 months. Seems to be some delay in getting them made/shipped or something.
  7. Depends what part of the country you get it done. I say go independant all the way - I expect you'll get quotes between £60-110.
  8. What you say about green being associated with bad luck when it comes to cars, I have heard that too. And funnily enough I had a green car once and I got a side window smashed on me & I had my only ever crash in it.
  9. If in doubt get the cable changed first. It's cheap and easy to fit.
  10. I doubt if the front carpet wetness is related to the boot. Depending on the position of my Corrado when there was heavy rain my front carpets got wet too, so i made a hole on each side of the rubber surround at the bottom corners to allow the rain to dribble through it and on its way.
  11. No Aqua, I said legal :cuckoo:
  12. wouldnt it be great if it wasnt law to have number plates on the front. I'd get my bumper looking that if I could.
  13. Im not much of a car tech expert, but I'd be thinking of things like dirty fuel. Id change fuel filter, change plugs and if the prob was still there i'd take her to a garage for a tune up and make sure the timings ok. Havent a clue though really :D
  14. Isnt it supposed to sit at 90 when idle?? Thats a healthy temp.
  15. What we need is legal, regulated alternative policing services that we can hire if we need to. They could hunt these boys down for a small fee and give them whats what.
  16. Or what about reaching in to the car through the window with the keys in your pocket and you accidently press the locking button and the windows start to close and you almost get your neck caught in it.
  17. I was toying with the idea of buying a VR6, but economy wise I will probably be sticking to my valver. Be nice to see a few pics though.
  18. The car has no aggression about it. It looks as if its been designed for the female market and not the male. Same as everything else these days :D
  19. Get a compression test to rule out the head gaskett.
  20. I know the G60 engine is totally diff to the 1.8 16v, but thats the exact same area as the oil temp sensor is on mine although its a diff shape. Funnily enough they left it off after my head gasket was changed too! If I were you (and if I could afford it) I'd cut my losses with these guys and go to someone recomended from the forum here to get these probs fixed. Theyre obviously a sloppy bunch of wasters who only care about the money and not worrying about their reputation.
  21. Something I've never done but I think it would be very very worthwhile is having it taken to a garage and having them check in below it to check things like brake pipes, bushings, leaks and all sorts of bits n pieces like that. It might pay for itself if theres work needing done.
  22. I was getting other work done at the same time, but I assume it was 2hrs labour which is £60 and £40 for the bushings roughly.
  23. I had this done. £100. (Including price of the bushes)
