  1. Nothing lowly about 1.8 valvers :nono: If I were you I'd get her fixed up and into tip top shape because at the end of the day there isn't that many Corrados about these days (never was) so I'd hate to see another one go into the scrappers.
  2. The petrol station is on my route anyway
  3. Max I ever put in is £25 which puts it up to below the half way mark. I see little point in filling her up cos an extra 20 litres of fuel is a lot of extra weight to carry around which in turns means higher fuel consumption. Prob not much I know, but over the years it adds up :) Yes I AM tight.
  4. Just noticed a wee hting..if you go to Castrol.com and then select the UK version and then click on the Castrol Magnatec sign and select your car make and modle it tells you which grade of oil they reccommend.
  5. I've been using Castrol Magnatec 10/40 for the last 5 years. That's with regular changes every 6months and it does the business.
  6. Just to note, I was assuming your vibration is coming through the steering wheel. If it's not then it's not balancing that needs done.
  7. Funnily enough I've had two very similar problems just resolved. The vibrating was the wheels needed balanced. They will usually only balance the front two wheels if you say youre feeling the vibration at a certain speed, but ask them to do all 4 to be on safe side. The knocking noise going over bumps was just the exhaust. Your rubber hangers possibly need renewed.
  8. If I was a millionaire I'd do this kinda work to my Corrado too :D As it is, im not a millionaire but I've still spent thousands on it so I dare not even think about how much has been spent on this one!
  9. If youre getting only the wing fully resprayed isn't it going to look a diff shade to the rest of the car? Especially saying as its metallic paint.
  10. For my valver I paid £350 for Supersprint middle pipe and oval back box.
  11. Wishbone bushings - thats it I think- was a long time ago :) . Was defo the bushings around that area. Get your local garage to get her up on the ramps - if it is the bushings they can tell you straight away.
  12. Mine was the suspension wing bushings thingys.
  13. I think the person who left the note was taking the piss by calling it a Golf just to annoy you.
  14. Exhaust it was - well done those who got it right :D
  15. Dec when you finnaly get done you should put up a list of what all you bought and how much it cost as a rough guide for people considering doing something similar.
  16. No doubt if you turboed it though it would eat through the petrol like there was no tomorrow. It wouldnt be just the turbo itself that would give you say 250-hp though - it would be considerable engine work too I assume?
  17. How much extra HP & torque would you get with a turbo then ?
  18. Here's one for you :D I was looking on Halfords website at exhaust hangers and theres 2 or 3 different sizes to choose from. Link here http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... &langId=-1 Which size do you buy for a 1.8 16v ? :confused4:
  19. Just for the record it turned out to be not what I expected. To cut a long story short she hadnt been running right on all cylinders for a while and I was due to get head gasket changed. Got it changed and she now idles correctly again at just below 1000rpm. :D
  20. Really helpful Boost :D Thanks loads mate youre a genuis!
  21. Apologies for the grubby engine bay - had some work done a few days ago on it like I was saying earlier. :D In the first pic here you can see 3 wires that are running below the distributor. Bottom left is red/yellow, top left is green/red and top right is green/black. This leaves nowhere that I can see to plug the blue/white one into! (Im thinking maybe the top right green/black wire shouldnt be connected here and this blue/white wire should be in its place?) Btut then where would green/black go to.... In the second pic theres the black sleeve that connects to the distributor and it has 3 wires , one brown, one green and one red going into it. Just to make it clear for me Boost could you confirm where my blue/white wire should be going to? Is it defo the top right connector in the first pic or have I got it wrong? :? Appreciate your help!
  22. Gonna post you a pic of the 3 pin connector later on. Theres 3 wires already connected to it so unless theres another connector somewhere theres gonna be a wire left hanging on its own.
  23. Its been a couple of years since I changed the coolant and I recently had the head gasket changed. I noticed the coolant is green now and I know the G12+ stuff is pink, so it seems they have put the wrong type of coolant in after changing the gasket. Wanting things to be right Im going to flush the system on the weekend and get the G12+ back in, but I have a quick question. After I remove both the top and bottom hoses is it advisable to use a hose pipe to flush the system completley or just let the coolant empty out of the pipes itself?
  24. Boost, see the wee arrow i have drawn in at the top of the picture.....is this where the blue n white wire connects onto on yours? I see no other places where it could go...all the other sensors have wires connected (but they could have been connected wrong cos like I say I was having a bit of work done to my car............head gasket to be precise).
  25. Hmm...something doesnt sound right. Im going to take some photos when I get home and post them up.
