  1. Wicked build! Good luck with the 4wd conversion. If you need any help just give me a shout :)
  2. UPDATE!! 2 months of not touching the Storm in order to finish other projects I'm now back on it..! I move out of my current rented house in 2 weeks and the car needs to be finished, or at least running! So the story so far is .... Wiring is almost done, all I need to do now is supply the ECU earths and lives then I will need to splice into the corrado loom for things like dials, fuel pump etc etc.. so I think there is 8-9 wires left to sort out. 2 hrs work max I hope! (3-4hrs in the cold weather) Using a standard VR6 throttle body and a standard fly-by R32 TB I now have a 'manual' operated R32 version. I need to pop by Halfrauds tonight and get hold of some ali wire and argon gas so I can attack the potentionmetre side over the course of the next couple of days. I plan to use the VR potentionmetre and ali weld it to the other side of the R32 TB (see pics!) It would be a touch to finish that this week. I also made a mock-up cover out of carboard that I will replicate out of glass fibre then maybe cover in carbon.. I need to get going with the laptop this week so I can get the Emerald ready with its start up map so the car will hopefully fire first time etc. R888 cut slicks have just turned up at work so I can get those fitted this week.. I have an eibach ARB to fit, slim line fans and move the rad forward to miss the inlet and thats it!!!!! God this will be tight to have the car running by the 20th!! One weekend left!!!   Then the car is going to Norfolk to my folks place where inbetween socialing with the family I can shoot out to the garage and prep the car for a re-spray in the new year.. also Emerald is about 30 mins from my folks for when the time is right to map the car! Then in the new year I'm booked to build a 700bhp spec R32T :)
  3. My thoughts exactly.. prob be a good year though before a purchase! If I lost my company hack then I would have an R32'd corrado all day long! Or maybe an R36'd corrado.. they are great cars!
  4. I've got an Exige S2, which is actually about to go.. I have my company daily and I'm currently finishing an R32 conversion into a Storm and a 350bhp IHI 20vt into a fwd corrado G60. So I'm getting my dub fix.. so by christmas I'll hopefully have a free driveway, however I'm prob going all sensible and saving for a house deposit for a year or so now! :( Would like to take advantage of the dropping housing market!
  5. mate IF i have a free weekend then yes by all means.. would be nice to actually meet you and see the car! B
  6. haha.. well give me a shout if you need any help mate.
  7. Coxy.. is your car ever going to be finished chap? hehe
  8. Well done chap! Will still have that fan off you, just on hols but will sort money out when I get back! Sorry been a bit busy of late.. looking forward to seeing it in the flesh! Ben
  9. Mate you are a legend! I hope to have some time this weekend to crack on!! Nice build!! Keep us posted!! Ben
  10. Ben, The wiring diagram that Goose sent you, is for semi-sequential (3 pairs) injection. This, as I understand it, is the most advanced option on the emerald, as there are only 4 injector drivers. You could run fully sequential on engines with 4 cylinders or less, with Emerald. The diagram is based upon the Storm wiring, as they sent Goose the pin-outs. Going on the earlier remarks in this thread, it seems it's the optimum way to use the emerald with a 6-cyl engine. However I could be totally wrong..... and the above utter cobblers. As for power, I've been told just touching 300bhp is possible with the standard cams, a r32 sized throttle body, a "decent" exhaust [whatever one of them is in this instance] and the vvt running maxium overlap, using the emerald management. Like you said, the VR throttle has an appreciably smaller ID. Get your mate to sent his ecu to Emerald to be configured for sequential and they will install the additional 3 injector drivers that he needs. This is what I did a while back. Its only an extra 3 wires but it will make all the difference. The Emerald can have upto 8 injector drivers provided they have been configured to be used by Emerald. Ben your fax just isn't working bud, and I left the bloody sheet at work will get it scanned and posted on here for tomorrow mate! Can you remember how much they charged you and do they change the plug at the end of just add 3 wires for you to connect too? I'm interested as long as it doesn't cost too much and take too long to convert the ECU, might get it upgraded to a K3 as well. Mate I didn't think that fax number worked, sorry. If you are able to scan it, it would be great to send it to my email i sent you. Many thanks for this!! P.S. Any more info on your build? Looks v.interesting! Ben
  11. I'm sure thats the case, not doubting it but I'm going to try and use the larger R32 TB... Should be able to get 300bhp N/A out of these engines with certain simple mods.. 8)
  12. KADVR6... the 12v TB is defo smaller. The outer casting is similar to the R32 but the inner bore is much larger on the R32 version. Anyway ripped out the stepper motor and mech on the R32 TB tonight. Had a look at how I'm going to modify it to work. Please to report the center spline is steel which means I can potentially mig weld to it if required. I don't have a tig to hand so welding a bracket to the casing might be a little tricky! But then there is always the option to drill and tap or bolt a bracket to it if required. Undecided which end the potensiometer is going and which end the throttle connection is going to be but the shaft seems long enough for both, perhaps even on one side, which might be the better idea. However I want to try and keep the spring in tacked so the TB will shut when the throttle pedal is lifted. Anyway a couple of pics of the inside...
  13. You guys beat me to it! Can't get to this forum at work unfortunatly :( Those are the correct part numbers.. or at least the tensioner is. Will check the bracket one. But they are just early 2.8 24v engine parts! 98 or 99 cars. Alex, I would be very interested if thats the case.. was going to sit down and work out the injector and coilpack wiring this evening, but I will wait for the pin layout.. THANKS!! KADVR6, I was talking about sequential fueling not actually Emerald installations to the R32 engine and yes I'll have the fan off you if my mate hasn't already bought one! Thanks!! PM me so I can get your prefered method of payment chap..THANKS! cheers guys.. Ben
  14. The answer probably at the moment would be no. I must admit I haven't given it much thought but thinking about it now I see little point as it
  15. Isn't the 12v TB much smaller? I was planning on ripping out the R32 TB motor and adapting the spline to fit the butterfly mech, then the other end fit the potentiometer, taking both bits from the 12v TB.. and I might be interested in the fan mate, how much? cheers!
  16. UPDATE!! Had this afternoon free to make some more progress with the R32 Storm. Got the alternator bracket sorted without an aircon pump, will sort that later. Need an early 2.8 24v aircon pump. Obviously the belt doesn't fit as its the R32 one but once I figure out which belt will work, thinking an early 24v version.. that will work. Anyway I'm happy thats all sorted now pretty much. I also made a start on the wiring, at long last... kind of been putting it off but I couldn't for any longer! Got the following wired up: Map sensor VVT solenoid Inlet solenoid Crank sensor Coolant temp sensor Still have the following to sort. List as follows: Inlet air temp Coils Injectors Throttle potentiometer Shift-light Batt Lambda sensor Rpm Fuel pump control Fuses, relays, earths Then I need to spline the following into the corrado loom: Switched live live Lambda sensor Rev counter Fuel pump relay Coolant temp Charge light Oil pressure Alternator startup wire So its happening! Other things to think about is converting to a manual throttle body. Still thinking about how to convert the R32 fly-by one as its ideal and I might be able to save money by modding it instead of buying a Mustang or an Alfa version. Also need to make up some airfilter piping with an air temp sensor grafted in (need to purchase from Emerald), obviously buy and fit the exhaust manifold + de-cat pipe, connect fuel lines and sort some thin fans for the rad. Other than the odd little bit of dash wiring thats about it?! If I'm missing anything then please shout! Another update next weekend no doubts. Cheers all.. Ben
  17. Thanks chap! 5h1t happens but got it sorted!! 12v bracket will not fit as one piece but someone in the states used the 12v lower half and 24v top half and made a bracket that way... but not worth it when a 2.8 24v bracket does the job and is only 38 quid from the dealer!! I think I am going to ditch the aircon for the time being, get it running as it is! 12v air con pump will fit but you need to modify the front cross member, better to get an early 2.8 24v one and convert the connectors to fit! Thats what I'm going to do! Wiring is half done. I'm hoping to have the wiring finished by next weekend, as I'm free to make a change! Need to sort the throttle body but I think it shoould be able to fire very soon!! :norty:
  18. yes just looked at jays install on the coupehaus website and thats what I need! Thanks!! Anyone got one?!
  19. Rev counter converter isn't needed, as the emerald can put out different signals to suit. I cancelled the order for the counter converter on your recommendation. Hopefully the ECU plug and pins will be with me tomorrow. Update: A COUPLE OF PROBLEMS !! - I didn't have any time this weekend to work on the R32 Storm, however I managed to pick up the new 2.8 24v alternator/PAS/air con bracket and trial fitted it this evening quickly. The bracket fits.. The R32 alternator fits... The old 12v aircon pump will fit if I was too mod the front cross member - so possible... The PAS pump fits also however only has 3 bolts to hold it on instead of 5, which isn't great. [strike:2iznenl3]Major issue is with the 12v VR6 tensioner hitting the inlet manifold. I'm scratching my head with this one! Think the only way forward is too modify the tensioner. Basically I would need to fit a 8-10mm spacer between the head and the tensioner and then cut the arm where the tensioner pully is (as low down the arm as possible) and ali weld it 8-10mm inwards to clear the inlet, i.e. towards the head again. Can't think of an alternative as the R32 tensioner doesn't fit at all. Any thoughts on this one?![/strike:2iznenl3] Edit : SCRUB THAT - A 2.8 24v TENSIONER IS NEEDED !! I have the joys of wiring this week :pukeright:
  20. True! Well I hope it helps others.. I'm trying to crack on and get it finished as quickly as possible.. as I'm dying to drive it.. will be such fun and also the noise! (may have to get rid of one of the silencers! ) Ben
  21. UPDATE TIME! Right, only had a little over a day this weekend to work on the corrado but I thought I got quite a bit done! Got the front engine mount bracket finished, painted and fitted. The standard oil cooler fits with no problems. Managed to sort 99% of the water piping, used a mix of the R32/12v hoses to achieve this, but unfortunatly the standard fans on the rad don't fit but fear not I'll just whack a couple of cheap aftermarket fans on there so no biggy! Got the Aeromotive FPR fitted, need a couple of adpaters to make it fit the standard fuel lines but these can be ordered this week! Got all the gearbox bits connected such as clutch m/cyl, driveshafts, gear linkage, starter motor etc etc... Finally I mounted the Emerald ECU so that the wiring will be neat and tidy. I will make a cover so the water stays well away. That leads me onto the wiring! I need to order a new ECU plug from Emerald but this week I intend on labelling all the wiring so all I need to do is put the Emerald ECU plug on the end and hey presto that'll be done also! Quite lucky as a mate just sent over a rough wiring layout for an Emerald setup on a 24v! So should be easy enough.. that includes VVT and inlet activation as well :)))) Plus all blue pipes i do actually want to change to black so the conversion looks neat! So my shopping list for this week (poor credit card!!) is: Fuel connectors + jubliee clips to suit Emerald ECU plug and poss a rev counter convertor signal ?? Throttle body with potentiometer and manual wire operated butterfly 2.8 24v alternator bracket SS 6 branch manifold + flexi to weld on x2 12" fans Will the engine fire at the weekend?? hummm.. possibly!
  22. Hey Simon.. its up on pistonheads for just under 22k.. but to a forum member I'm open to an offer (especially if its you mate..)! cheers Ben
