  1. No worries. Prob not as I'm looking at building something else for me.. just need to get the Exige sold! Ben
  2. Awesome mate! Makes sense with the 4wd!
  3. I'm happy with that.. can always weld a flexi in the end of the downpipe! But I'm hoping to fit a solid front engine mount to stop the engine moving too much! I'd weld one in anyhow - won't do any harm. Think I will John.. makes sense.
  4. 1) I did mod the front engine mount bracket, yes.. cheaper than going mocal on this occasion! 2) The FPR will prob be mounted to the side of the engine but I haven't got that far yet. But it could go on the strut somewhere as there are mounting bolts there. 3) Air aux pump will prob be binned. No point running it really. Front experience it tends to be the case that the simpler these engine conversion are the better the results. (but not always).. I really don't know yet chap, it depends the exacat purpose of the air pump, which as it stands I don't know as I haven't looked into it. I know it seems strange but this R32 engine thing is new to me also... if you wanted to know about 1.8T's then thats a different story! hehe Thanks mate.. will kepp you updated. Want the engine running before I go on hols in 5 weeks. In fact I want the car drivable before then. Aircon might take me a little longer to sort. No worries Pete, happy to help where I can. That looks like the one I have but I paid a bit less I think. We got ours direct from the states with -8 fittings. (will need to make a converter to fit standard fuel lines for now). Mine is model number 13101 or 13109.. see link http://www.aeromotiveinc.com/products.php?prod=10 I asked the question about whether they'll do NA, and they will apparently. I mean we bought this one to handle a 600bhp R32 Turbo engine but seeing as we are going to NA to begin with I need it to do both. Re-transplanting engines.. if your putting your R32 engine into a VR6 corrado then its the easiest conversion ever! Coupehaus will be doing a 'how to guide' for converting to the 1.8T, 24v V6, V8 into VW's when the new site is built (before Chrimbo). If you need any other advice just shout! Ben
  5. Ohh don't get me wrong mate your quite right.. I didn't get much time yesterday but I fabricated a front engine mount out of the old one to clear the late spec oil cooler! Works a treat! Wiring will be done tomorrow hopefully. I'm not using the R32 throttle body as it stands so I was going to make up an spacer to tilt it down slightly, but your quite right it does get close! The hard bit will be done soon ;-)
  6. Yes I remember! humm might give him a call! cheers chap Ben
  7. Quick update! Got to work early this morning so I could get home on time this evening! Got straight outside and 45mins later the R32 engine is in ;-) Everything cleared no problem, rear engine mount + rear gearbox mount are bolted up and I just have a jack proping the front up. Tomorrow I'm going to modified the front engine bracket and fit the mount, bolt up the driveshafts, sort the water pipes (hybrid of R32/VR6 pipes), make a start on the Emerald wiring and if theres time look at modifying the alternator bracket to bolt up the old aircon compressor + PAS pump and fit the R32 alternator. I test fitted the inlet manifold and it clears the bonnet! So I don't think I'll need to drop the front of the engine, even if I did it would only be by 10mm MAX. So all is looking good for the weekend... now I just need to pray for good weather!!!! :notworthy: PICS : :norty:

  9. I know a man with a MK1 rolling shell that's had all the rot repaired...... you could probably have it for buttons. Don't tempt me.. :nono: but give him my number/email John if hes selling, might be interested if its not too much .. ! :norty:
  10. Arhh thats nice.. defo will go for one of those. I take it it bolts straight up to the standard CAT? Good idea about waiting for E38.. if hes going to be there then I'll defo bring some money! B
  11. Thanks man.. appreciated! Will keep the updates coming! Thought as much ;-) This conversion is just going to be the essentials as the rest of the car is in good stead. Will be respraying it though as well to tidy the outside up. I might be interested in the compressor, depends what bracket I use tbh.. thanks for the kind words.. will keep everyone posted. Well I reckon anything is possible! lol Pete, The late mk4 R32's and mk5 R32's run an electric PAS pump and high pressure fuel rails and lines all the way from the pump. So my plan is to either use a 12v or 2.8 24v bracket to take care of the alternator, air con compressor and PAS pump. Fuel rail wise you can either swap out to a early mk4 R32 rail with FPR and return line or fit an aftermarket aeromotive FPR that has the return on it.. I have bought one already, but its a turbo one so need to see if it will work without boost. 3rd option is to weld a union on the end of the rail and put in a FPR with a return but thats too much like hard work and not required. Will keep you up dated. UPDATE : Hoping to get the engine in this week and make a start on the wiring the Emerald, fitting water pipes etc this coming weekend. I really want to crack on with this project before winter sets in. Will order the 6 branch manifold when I get paid next week. Would love to start it before E38, but doubt I will have time! :mad2:
  12. You'll see it on Sunday Wendy, be good to see you! Yeah well.. might as well do it while I can! If only I liked motorbikes! I'm thinking a really lightweight mk1 golf might do the trick! Got the urge for a lightweight mk1 with big bhp!!
  13. Stage 1 will just be a NA R32 corrado, but if stage 2 happens with the big turbo then thats when the real fun begins! Don't watch too closely.. hehe  If you need it doing mate you know who to contact ;-) Will be seeing Guy at the w/e mate so I'll say you said hi.. We will be starting on his R32T soon.. 600bhp here we come!! :cuckoo:
  14. We'll see mate.. funds are tight at the mo and its a big gamble to put a 20vt into an expensive sports car.. but I have been know to do the odd mad thing to cars in my time.. so you never know ;-) Ben LOL - Think it will quite tame after what you did to your C! Haha.. yeah your prob right. I've actually decided to sell the Exige, too much funds tied up in it for my liking and don't want to get too caught out with how the market is going. And although its fast its not as fast as I would like it to have been. Handling is amazing but not enough get up and go in a line. So back to the drawing board. My problem is I need to tinker and I don't want to touch this car. I need something that will scare me but really I should be saving for a house :( ... Boring
  15. Indeedy.. A mk5 R32 engine that has done.... 9,000 miles!!! So you mean if it had this attached it would be :norty: ??  only one? :( may as well fit two :D haha.. funny you should say that, twin turbo was the first idea we had! 3582R with the 1.06 hotside will push over 650 on the R32 8) :D Looks like the makings of a good project! well i hope it does?????? Thats what it is, so good to hear! Think we are going NA to begin with though as we can't decide what to do about the gearbox, looking at converting a 6spd 02m to FWD. 3582R with the 1.06 hotside will push over 650 on the R32 8) :D Looks like the makings of a good project! Don't know about good! Sounds mental!! LOL  I take it your converting to 4wd???? Not this one.. sticking with FWD.. He is.. not sure on his user name and how often he posts.. but he found me through this forum! More updates this week, when the weather cheers up I'm hoping to get the engine in the car this week. Wiring at the weekend and started next week! (only kidding, even I can't get it done that quickly! hehe)
  16. The owner wants to go NA to begin with but I think seeing as most of the turbo parts are bought it would be rude not to go force induction! No. Although I am helping him take is R32T to the next level. We are rebuilding the motor to a 600bhp spec.. Its not bad. Could have gone for a GT40 or 42 but decided to go with a GT35R with the largest hot side as it suits the R32 engine really well. Will still do 600bhp if required!
  17. DTA huh.. cool. Be interested to hear how it runs. I've got an emerald for the conversion I'm doing. Good luck mate!!!!!!
  18. Up the boost.. hehehe! :notworthy:

  20. Another update.. unfortunatly I just ran out of time today, wanted to get the engine in the bay but hey ho. Got it ready to go in anyhow.. So I cleaned up the Storm gearbox, seems fine so no point in changing anything.. bearings are all still tight. Removed the 24v flywheel and fitted a cleaned up 12v version and bolted up the new clutch. Then it was just a case of fitting the gearbox to the 24v. I then stripped the 24v engine pretty much to a long block so that its easier to install in the corrado bay (hopefully sunday afternoon if I have time!).. The corrado bay could do with a clean really but I'm sure I can do that with the engine in place. Oh I also removed the old downpipe.. what a rusty bit of junk! lol Pics below..
  21. They must be some of the tidiest corrados about.. good work ;-)
  22. Good work chap. What are you doing about the alternator/PAS bracket? Are you using a 2.8 24v one or adapting the 12v one to fit?
  23. Guys, I need a favour! Those who have done 24v conversions, would you poss be able to send me a pic of the Alternator/PAS bracket you've used?! I've got a feeling I need a 2.8 24v bracket so that the corrado PAS pump will fit.. my late engine doesn't even have a PAS pump, they must use electric PAS pumps?! Thanks! Ben
