If your unhappy then sell it, you can always get another one?

Looking to get the VR6 and the VX220 done, get the injectors properly cleaned out etc. Anyone able to recommend somewhere as near to Swansea as possible? Cheers.

Yes, it chugs but won't catch. Sometimes it keeps chugging, sometimes it just stops, but I now do it once so as not to burn the starter out then retry. ---------- Post added at 10:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:17 AM ---------- Just off the phone with DG, he said its the fuel pump before I mentioned it buzzing! Might get the pump done and book I not into DG for a proper going over...

Hi guys, today's little irritation is that I'm struggling to start the car after its warmed up. If I drive a while so its hot, then park, the next time I try to start the car (even if it's the next day) the first time it won't so I reset the ignition and it starts perfectly on the second attempt. If I drive the car a short while so it hasn't had chance to warm up, it starts the next time fine. My local garage reckons it could be vapour lock, but doesn't know how to fix it. I also notice my fuel pump buzzes but could be incidental. Any ideas? I'm happy to change whatever I need, but I do not want to spend lots of money if it might not even fix the problem...? Ta. Pete.

Thanks guys, I would rather not go back to the previous mount because the car was juddering before. I have an obd cable to my laptop, is there a way of going in and making the change myself?

Hi having fitted the new poly mounts the car drives great but the vibration at idle is bonkers! Started featuring the throttle and if it idled a little higher it would be much better. Not sure what the idle should be and if mine is a little low? Here I the idle on start up this morning. And here after a 10 min drive. I read on here that the line on the tachy is the idle point but mine seems lower. Can I adjust the stop bolt thing in the engine bay (that you use to open the throttle body) not sure of its technical name to increase the idle? Apart from fuel economy would this have any detrimental effects, or is there another way to adjust it? I also find that sometimes pulling away needs a blip or the engine lumps around a bit. If it makes a difference my car has an AMD remapped ecu and a BMC CDA. Thanks. Pete.

Looks lovely! I would also go black on the plate plinth, or carbon if your feeling flush...

NEW Group Buy - VR6 Polyurethane engine mounts (PAYMENTS PLEASE)
Pete replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in Forum Group-Buys
I did them all, the rear is a rubber g60 mount. I think I need to up the idle a little bit as an extra 100rpm on the throttle sorts it. Still much rather this than he kangaroo ride I has before! -

Am I the only one but I'm getting mega vibration at idle. The glove box and undertray rattles it's really bad...??? I think it could be down to my idle speed which at 600rpm-ish seems low (car has AMD map). Anyone know what the correct idle it? -
Ahem... ;)

Looks great but somehow lacking without the plate lol. Needs a private replacement...

Make sure you do the Brecon national park for driving roads, and if your south then st David's or the Gower is great for staying.

CMass. Not sure I'd want the hassle, unless they look the nuts! I have 288 brakes if that hinders? Jamie. Do they have tyres attached? Pics?
-
Tom. To be honest I would prefer the bigger wheel, I think my car looks a little too "euro" on 15s lol. Jamie. They will be used through winter so not sure I want anything too smart. Ideally something with nice fat tyres I can rub up to kerbs with when parking haha.
-
Any pics? Are they straight and true and do they come with any tyres? Cheers.

Was planning on seeing it Wednesday but it was too packed and I didn't fancy that so will leave for a week or two...
-
Thanks but they a 15's, rather the 16 mid step.
-
eBay or are there any sellers doing them for that price? eBay may be best as I may get them with tyres already on...

Hi guys I don't want to run my 17 speedlines in winter so looking to plan ahead and get some cheap rims. I think 16 would be best as 15s with the lowered suspension would probably make the car scrape its belly. Any places you can suggest? I'm happy with steels or alloys to be honest unless eBay turns up a local set of golf wheels etc I'm not bothered. Did the beetle come with 16 steels? I know the answer is probably to ring vw, scrappies and check ebay etc but wondered if anyone had any bargains to share?

What's your skill set? Metal work? Fibreglass? If you can do almost anything I have a good one for you. Get a rear ended vx220 or one with a bust engine, fabricate new engine mounts and rear subframe, bolt in a supercharged jag v8 and corvette manual box and finally find a way of lengthening the rear clam to compensate for the bigger engine (or do without a boot). Caral used to do them and charged silly money upwards of 60k I think, but the car had 420bhp and weighed under 1000kg! Or do a DIY Honda into an Elise as its a well trodden path so lots of people can help on seloc. RX7 with a rover v8? Twin engine and 4wd the corrado like some did to golfs in the 90s? wish I had the skills to do my dreamy ideas for real lol.
