Still trying to eradicate my intermittent starting problem, and chatting to a mates dad who's an RAC engineer I did a test of the ignition to find the car isn't producing a spark. With that in mind, the options seem to be either a crank position sensor, coil pack, ignition or immobiliser fault. I've removed, cleaned and reseated the crank sensor but before I start spending on parts how do I check the coil pack and ignition switch without killing myself??? My thinking was to unplug the pack and get a voltmeter over the terminals which would help tell of the pack is failing, but how can I test the pack is receiving power with the ignition on? Any advice on what to check, order to check in etc would be great.

Yes, I use it daily all year round. Only change are the winter wheels.

New pump time definitely. The bits of swarf in the tank should be blocked by the filter so probably best to change both

They have been snooping around the vx220 forum that im on for a sub4k damaged car. So far nothing.

Basically the car tried to start, chugging, then it just stops doing anything despite the key still trying to start it. I'll get a filter and do the filter, and maybe a new fuel pump relay a it's cheap and if they work I'll take the FPR back for refund...

That's right, bit of gurgling and trickling on the rear right corner. I'll eliminate that for now then. Apart from that it's silent, which makes me think the pump isn't pumping so the first attempt is drawing fuel down from the tank. Car was warm just now, maybe an hour off from a 25 min drive, ignition on and total silence. Cranks for maybe a second or two then just stops. Sound crank and it starts easily. Fla - not touched the filter because, if I'm honest, I don't know how to change it... Should I change a/some sensors while doing the fpr and if so, which? Also should I try a new fuel pump relay?

This is where I am on trying to sort this out. Car won't start first time but starts fine on second try. I have: Cleaned the spark plugs Changed the HT leads Changed the fuel pump. Noticed the following though, I put the ignition on and I can hear liquid moving around near the back of the block. After about 45 seconds the noise goes away and the car starts perfectly without any throttle feathering. Plan next is to change the temp sensor and fuel pressure regulator. Can anyone tell of which temp sensors to c hange (part numbers or link to eurocarparts would be ace) or if I'm barking up the wrong tree again??? Thanks.

The eBay ones don't have bulbs in em. The garage is about 14 x 22ft. Here are some pics to held show what I mean... (ps spot some recaro action in pic 1 ;) ) Anyone able to point me at the right tubes to buy which will give a white light? Would you say 1 each side or 4 in total on the roof beams vs on the walls?????

Hi folks, I'm looking to improve the lighting in my garage which currently consists of one very old batten strip light which is very yellow looking and only covers about 20% of the garage in usable light. I really want a few spaced out so I can polish the car inside etc but I know nothing about which lights to get. A mate of mine is happy to do the wiring so I'm ok with that, but does anyone have a suggestion of what lights to actually get??? The garage is dry but not heated so again not sure what to get in terms of health and safety... Web links would be ideal, I want something that will give a "white" light if that makes sense, and I'm not bothered what they look like. Thanks all.

Any update on this? I've had a new pump hich fixed things for a while but it's come back over the last couple of days.

I'm currently using the group buy pol inserts which are pretty much solid, so VTs should be more comfortable than what I've got.

Have you checke the tension in the actual throttle cable? If its got a kink in it or is loose in the engine bay it could be whipping around ithe engine bay when you go on/off throttle.

In car commode's - talk to me.

Have you checked the fuel in the tank for swarf? Make sure if the pump has failed that there's nothing floating aroun in the tank.
