Hi mate, I'll take the smooth scuttle panel subject to picture if you can do a price on the postage. Cheers
-
Just to update, the electric impact wrench did the job nice and easy :) Also realised this morning that my O2 sensor socket fitted, the slot in the side of that would've done the trick also for an allan key to fit in through the side. Impact wrench was easier though. Now just waiting for the dealer to call when the replacement for the snapped bolt comes in.
-
OK, thanks mate, I'll make something up to do the job. Just the bit of scoop screwed to the slam panel missing then. Any one got one of these for sale?
-
Cheers all. Another option to try after I pick the bolt up tomorrow.

That didn't work :bonk:

This is what it looks like at the moment. (1st attempt at adding a pic with tapatalk so hope it works)

I don't have a proper airgun/compressor setup. Although I do have an electric impact gun which i could give a go.
-
Yeah, that was the type I was looking for, I have some already, no 21mm unfortunately. Just looking on ebay for some but they won't arrive in time for tomorrow. The plug socket looks like a top tip for a go in the morning.
-
Ah, never thought about a plug socket, I'll give that a go :) Yeah, they are the type of the old spanners I have, no 21mm one though. I'll grab a set off ebay for later use, but wanted to get the job done tomorrow, so no use for the job in hand. The funny socket set you mention I've seen somewhere too, could of sworn it was Halfords, but bugger all there like it today. My misses will be pleased, another ebay parcel to miss and have to collect from the depot

I'm removing the coilovers on my VR6 and putting the bilstein struts and springs back on (they came as spares with the car). Anyway, I set to work on the bottom bolts that connect the strut to the hub. Passenger side ones undid no probs, bottom drivers side one sheared off... typical! :( Quick trip to VW and a new nut and bolt due in tomorrow. So, once they were all cracked free, I thought I would try the strut tower top nut. It is recessed into the cup quite a long way. Not a big deal I thought, 21mm socket on the top. Try undoing it, the hole top mount and strut piston just rotates. There is an alan key hole in the top of the piston rod, which is ok but how the heck do I get a spanner on the nut with it recessed so far in, so that I can get an allan key on the piston top? My old spanner set has a deep crank in it which is ideal, but nowt the size of 21mm. Quick trip to halfords, Nothing, closest they have would be touch and go with the recess, but only do 17, 19, 22 and 24mm. Grrrr..... what are you guys using to get these effing lock nuts off the top?

OK, thanks. I don't have the bit that fixes to the slam panel, so I'm definately that bit short then. At the moment, the other bit is inserted into the airbox, and the oval opening (which pretrudes about an inch I guess) falls a couple of mill short of the plastic panel with the oval hole in it.
-
Thanks for the replies all. I couldn't understand the snorkel bit until the pic near the end. I think the seller of the airbox has shoved the snorkel the otherway round into the airbox (maybe to save space on the packaging) so it looks like I need to pull it out of the airbox and insert the other way round. Or does it go into the airbox as it already is (the metal bit that you can see in the pic goes inside the airbox, or does does that bit point through the plastic panel behind the headlamp)? Cheers all.

Hi All, I'm reverting the cone air filter setup on my VR6 back to the OEM airbox. I have now sourced an airbox, and also sourced the air duct (plastic panel that screws on behind the headlamp), but I'm sure I'm missing something else. An air duct/flap thingy. Anyone know what I'm talking about? A pic would be handy or even better has someone got one they want to part with, either local or posted? Cheers

I asked the specific question about taking the 18 years with me, he said yes, but as I say, he could've been lying. -

I already checked that when they said it. He said the no claims would stand at the end of the year if I moved. He could be lying of course, which is always possible. -

I'm with admiral multi-car this year. £570 for the Corrado VR6 and Lexus GS430 Sport, both modded. They even matched my GS430 no claims (18 yrs) for the Corrado. Went from Zero no claims to 18 years for the second car in just the space of a phone call. Gives me total freedom next renewal to get quotes with full NCB on both cars... Bit of a result :) -
Last wash and polish before work begins on the niggles.
Tigerfish replied to Tigerfish's topic in Members Gallery
Thanks Fin, I'll take a look, last night was literally 25 minutes to wash and give a quick coat while dinner was in the oven. Looks not too bad as it is the first wash since I've had it. Needs the polisher out at some point though. -
I Gave the car a last wash and very quick polish before she gets tucked up in the garage and I start tackling a few jobs.

Do you need payment now, or when the group buy has enough takers for the buy to be on? -

Crikey, I don't think I've seen one person turn their hands to so many skills, and get such a pro result at all of them. Well done indeed.
