Same here please Zak. '94 VR6. Not sure what is needed either. Any info greatly appreciated.

It is something to do with the the sensor reading incorrectly due to the cat being missing. A closed loop system needs the pre and post cat sensors to know what is going on with the emmisions (i.e. to know the cat has reduced the emmisions) so the post cat sensor will throw a fault code. The way round it is to remove the sensor, and plug something in to pretend it is the sensor.

Yeah, you beat me to it. A lot of decat systems just have a plug/socket to fool the system into not realising the 02 sensor is missing. I have a decat pipe for my VR (not fitted though) and that seems to have the hole to screw the 02 sensor in still.

I bought this one a while back. Works fine so far. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-VR6-SPARK-PLUG-LEAD-REMOVAL-TOOL-/190514479332?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c5b8c40e4 -

Hello mate, I'll take the semi polished manifold (assuming it fits a 94 VR6), one of the PCS Valves, and the clifford alarm as long as you have the working valet pin code for it. £100 for the three including delivery? Can't collect so happy to go with a courier. Cheers Rick -
I have one of the generic blue leads. After much farting about (uninstalling driver, re-installing driver), it finally read the car engine codes. Switched off, plugged back in and tried again, now the vag-com program just fails and windows says it will try and find a solution, but all that happens is I get the option to debug or end the program. running windows vista home premium. Any ideas why it would work once then give up the ghost?

I've bought both cables, but so far not much luck getting up and running. Read the codes once and now fails to do anything. The items I bought were ebay #'s 120793185126 and 300675663951

Have bought items from M15 VW and hombre_paulo and items arrived prompt and as described. Would definately deal again. Cheers both.

I agree, I would normally expect around £100 plus Vat for full setup. They said there was two hours labour, which again seems a bit steep, but as long as that is for a full geo setup, I'll swallow the price. If they are charging that just for tracking, then they are seriously taking the mick. ---------- Post added at 7:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 7:46 PM ---------- Thanks for the info. I'll give them a bell if I need it re-doing at any point, I can't really drive that far with the camber completely all over the shop as it is now.
-
Hi mate, do you have the gaiter and billet gear knob still?
-
Ok, thanks for the heads up. At £151 for them to do it, they better had do the whole lot, but I'll double-check on Monday.

After changing the front struts (back to the bilstein lowered struts from the coilovers) the car is booked into VW next Friday for a full gemoetry setup (camber etc). Are VW good at doing this job (not cheap I must say), or are there better places? I'm in Basingstoke so would have to be local'ish to there. I usually use Wheels-in-Motion/Blackboots nr Hemel Hempstead for the Lexus, who are first class, but I don't have the time to get up there.

I was in the VW parts department on Friday and was after a couple of door pins, they said they are now obsolete, does anyone know another source for them? I Have quite a lot of play in the bottom drivers door pin so the door drops a bit when opened.

Mine has a carbon cannister below the airbox, do people remove it?
-
Good stuff mate, I'll take the scuttle panel. If you can PM me your paypal details and postage, I'll sort out the payment. Cheers Rick

OK thanks. If you want to deal outside ebay, just let me know. Bid placed anyway.

If you want something done properly, do it yourself

I had a similar thing on my Mk1 Lexus GS300 Sport. Head gasket went while I was away from home so went to a recommended garage up in the Midlands. Picked the car up and thought the slight smell of petrol was from having the head work done. When I got back to Basingstoke, petrol was litterally pi$$ing out. They had nicked one of the injector seals so it was leaking petrol. So had to dismantle all of the inlet side of the engine to get the fuel rail off and replace the o-ring. Then checked the timing and it was a mile out. A couple of weeks later the car started chugging, steadily lost power and then failed to start. RAC guy came out, and after a bit of messing about (both of us trying different things), realised the distributor wasnt turning. After removing the timing belt cover, the exhaust cam sprocket had come adrift, the bolt hadn't been done up properly. Luckily on the mk1 straight six engine, it is non interference, so pushed the sprocket back onto the keyway and tightened bolt back up, ran like a charm. As a consequence, I wouldn't recommend Charlesworth Motors to fix diddly for anyone. -
I'll take it if it covers the VR6, what sort of price are you after?
