speedo lights

robwillz: I'm investigating LED options (although not very enthusiastically right now): http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=87146
3. I've just replaced a couple of the bulbs along the top of the dash as I only had one left working, which was great if I wanted to see how much fuel I had left but not so good for (high) speed or revs ;) In fact I didn't realise there were supposed to be three - the middle one hasn't worked since I bought the car. Luckily, a spare dash I bought when I thought I'd shorted out the MFA display was able to donate some bulbs. However, I like LEDs and I'd like to replace these rubbish little bulbs with some. I've seen from searching here and on Google that people have done it, but I can't find confirmation of what I think I need to buy. (Quite a lot of the old threads here are focussed on the LCD backlighting, or point to product pages which don't exist any more.) I need to replace these things, which I think are 509T - kind of: And what I'm finding online is this: All the versions I can find to buy have the bulb sticking out of the "round" end - as though they're supposed to poke through whatever they're mounted in from the back (I think the one behind the MFA display installs like this?). I'm guessing that with a bit of bending of contacts slightly I could use this type and install them in the top of the dash from the back? Anyone done this who can point at what they did/what they bought?
4. Saw a blue Corrado, reg started L4 I think, going northbound on the A312 in West London. I waved but I don't think I was seen!
5. Is there a version of this thread (or a similarly comprehensive collection of information) for the 16v? Mine's running warm (I think) and while I can apply some of the general stuff from the OP obviously quite a bit of the specifics are different.
6. On holiday in New York and saw a black Corrado on Long Island :)
7. It's obvious who did it: it says so right on the forums!
8. Is that Mystic Purple or whatever it's called on the Storm? (It's only available on those right?) I used to have a Golf Mk III in that colour, loved it.
9. I had this problem - I did some testing and I think the extra pin is for telling the light to go off when you turn the ignition on and to tell it to come on when you turn the ignition off (can someone with a newer Corrado confirm that's what happens?) I cut the connector off my loom and wired it up directly (with a connector block so I can take it out again if needed) - I can have a look and tell you which pin does what as I wrote that on the hardware, but I couldn't tell you necessarily which cable on the car should go to which pin - if memory serves there's at least two cables of the same colour...
10. Driving out of Princes Risborough (Bucks) this afternoon spotted an N-reg blue Corrado parked up on the farm next to the house I grew up in - that caused a double take :)
11. Parts received and fitted, thank you very much :)
12. Thanks for the info. JMC: right now it's all at the front so any balance I can bring it will improve matters :) I suspect this will not be the last change I make to the car, audio-wise.... Just got to pick out a suitable amp now!
13. Suspected that would be the case, I'll do it the Right Way. Any guides for running the cabling? Experience has shown I am an incompetent failure when it comes to fiddling with trim :)
14. The previous owner of my car put a couple of 6x9s in the parcel shelf, and is driving them straight off the head unit. They always sounded a bit weak (if they did anything much at all) and when I finally got round to looking at them, I see their minimum input is 85W and my head unit output 54W/channel. Good job! So I guess I want to put a little amp in the boot to give these some oomph. I'm not looking for anything special here, just some decent output for when I've got some tunes on. I'd also like to do it myself, which means the less complicated the better! I was wondering if the feed to the window control module would be a suitable place to pick up some power (is it switched? or can amps shut themselves off if they're not getting input?) Any suggestions for something suitable to buy? Here's the speaker spec:
15. I'm after the driver's side front indicator - just found mine's smashed (guess a stone or something got it). I'll take the set of indicators and fogs if you're not prepared to split them up though.
16. Ah this is possibly what my mystery wire in the same location is, except mine just terminated as a bunch of copper oxide (it was loose under the air box! I just zip-tied it up out of the way for now...) Pic 3 is definitely the outside air temp sensor - it's supposed to sit in the driver's side air duct which goes from the splitter(?) to the wheel arch. There's a hole under the air box you can feed it though, although I've no idea if that's the Right place to do it.
17. When I was fiddling with the dizzy while trying to fix something here's what I scribbled down on my phone; taking cylinder 1 to be the leftmost (viewed from the front) and the positions on the dizzy as viewed from the side (i.e. the top of the cap): 1 goes to top left 2 goes to top right 3 goes to bottom left 4 goes to bottom rear I've also got a pic which happens to show the arrangement here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12605238/Photo%2020-06-2013%2015%2008%2042.jpg Hope that helps!
18. Seconding this, happened to me earlier this year.
19. I went to these guys: http://www.vwgreengarage.co.uk/ They were a little hard to find so here's a Google Streetview link looking straight at them: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/preview#!data=!1m8!1m3!1d3!2d-0.201158!3d51.546955!2m2!1f162.4!2f86.18!4f75!2m7!1e1!2m2!1sXM4WA0kLUGwhA5whrnM4Gg!2e0!5m2!1sXM4WA0kLUGwhA5whrnM4Gg!2e0&fid=5 No complaints, they diagnosed it was the Hall Sender and replaced the dizzy. Even arranged Saturday pickup even though they're shut weekends (the body repair place next door had the keys to their gate). Was about 300 quid for parts, labour and the recovery so not terrible I guess! I'm planning on using them again, need to do CV boots and something else suspension-related which were both MOT advisories last year... and Dad and I couldn't undo the bolts at the bottom of the suspension! (As you can tell from my last sentence, I know all the technical car terms ;) )
20. Check the ISV - cylinder on bracket top right of engine (as you face the car). Turn the ignition on and it should buzz/hum. You could also try taking it off and cleaning it out - I sprayed some carb cleaner though mine and it made the idle much more stable.
21. Stop it all of you. I'm already tempted enough to upgrade and I can't afford it :(
22. Saw a red VR6 parked up on someone's drive just off the A112 coming back into London this evening. Was at Brands for the historic touring cars today, so I parked the Corrado on the end of the showing-off row in the field with some Ferraris :) IMG_0709 by JamesOff, on Flickr
