To be honest it's been a ongoing battle with this car, the power steering. The only thig stopping me is the power steering lines. I'm considering taking my old ones off and taking them to somewhere like pirtek and having them made up. As I don't wonna spend 150 on two hoses.
-
Right to cut along story short, one of the two power steering lines has gone on. Whenever it remotely has any fluid inside it squirts it out quicker than a pornstar in a gang bang. I've weighed up the prices of buying both power steering lines for 150, but also possibly buying a new power steering pump around 100. I'm not a big fan of the power steering system it seems abit too over assisted at high speeds for my liking. But I've also weighed up saving the money for repairing the power steering system and just bin'ing it all. Then buyin a used manual mk2 steering rack and steering column boot and goin manual rack so my bays a bit cleaner and simple. Opinions??

Yeh my problem was down to dodgey wiring on multiple wires, the owner before just used scotch locks on everything! So I just repaired any dodgey wiring with proper soldered joints and heat shrink. It's somehow managed to fix the problem. Sorry for not having the exact answer for. All I'd recommend is maybe check any suspect wiring, I'm by no means a sparky or anything so I don't have a clue when it comes to electrics haha. Sorry

Sorry Twin45, I totally forgot about this thread. Do you have any pics? I only need the wiring loom, going from the main headlight plug to the next plug on along the chassis leg. But for both headlights as someone has butchered my headlight loom.

Bonjourno! My power steering rack has been squirting fluid out like pornstar for the whole time that I've owned it. It's got that bad that the neighbours have started complaining about the oil slick it leaves behind haha. So my idea is to convert my corrado to a manual rack, the reasons being 1) it leaks everywhere, 2) I find the power steering to be over assisted, 3) the power steering pump is knackered anyway and finally 4) I can tidy up the engine bay a bit by removing all the lines and reservoir. So what I'm asking is, can I simply take the belt off the power steering pump pulley, unbolt the pump from the block remove the old rack and all the lines etc?

I thought about leaving the original pressed metal work in the roof but just slowly welding a piece of old roof with the edges rolled to give strength then just weld in place. I really do need to remove the sunroof as I'm sick of it leaking and ruining my interior.

Before all the haters jump on, I'm not gonna just simply replace my C with another non sunroof C vehicle. My C hasn't been blessed from the factory ie it has a aftermarket sunroof fitted. Best way to describe the setup is think mk3 fiesta sunroof and microwave door glass! Anyway it leaks from time to time, but it is also a major eye saw especially on a corrado. Obviously this is a big job to do but me and my mates like a challenge. So has anyone done this before?

Right me and my mate spent agood few hours the other night trying to locate this problem. I removed the uprated loom and we began trying to diagnose the problem, we checked the relays, wires, bulbs and still the same thing. As soon as I turn my sidelights on, every bulb will light up, so sides, headlights and main beam now. My mate says it could be the mainbeam stalk that is faulty, but I dunno. I did replace the stalk a few weeks but why has this problem started now? The only thing I could suggest, is some bright spark in the past has cut-off both the vw 4 pin plugs off the headlight loom. So I have 8 wires in total I dunno what configuration the go in, to each individual headlight. Can someone post a pic of a standard headlight loom with pics of both vw plugs for the headlights? Cheers

Both bulbs are fine and the loom is off James153, I dunno how many relays are supplied with that uprated loom. Haha sounds like I'm gonna have to get auto electrian on this. I'm crap with wiring.
-
Are all the plugs and wires intact?
-
Yeh checked bulbs and they are the correct ones. Haha it is a bit confusing. I'll try and explain it abit better if I can- Push the switch in once the sidelights come on, but nothing else. Push the switch in again and the headlights don't come on, but the sidelights remain on. Pull the mainbeam stalk and all the lights come on, so inner lights, headlights and outer.
-
Yep that's precisely it. Hit the nail on the head. All 4 lights come on so sides, dipped and main come on.
-
I borrowed a mates headlight switch last night and nothing changed. I'm still not getting any headlights. Dox I may take you up on that, I did replace the column stalks not too long ago. Could that be involved with my problem?
-
Hiya I need a complete early front headlight loom as my standard one has been botched by some goon in the pass. Can anyone help me?
-
Right managed to strip down my light switch and found that one of the internal bulbs has got quite warm and broke the small green lense inside. I thought sweet it's not allowing the switch to fully turn on so removed a debris cleaned and inspected all the contacts which are all ok, then rebuilt the switch correctly and fitted it. Turned the lights on and still no headlights!!!!! Is the headlight switch at fault??? I've checked the uprated loom as stated, fuses, bulbs and switch now. What else can I do? This is my daily car and I'm finding it quite dangerous to drive to and from work with just sidelights.
-
I've checked the uprated loom properly and also the fuses. The dipped beams work when I turn on my main beams so I'm thinking it's the switch which is at fault. So can I use a mk2 golf headlight switch as a replacement??
-
Like the title says is this do able? Will the mk3 clocks actually fit or would the mk3 golf clocks be the wrong shape?
-
It does have a uprated loom but that's the first thing I've checked. But everything's ok with that.
-
Sorry forgot to mention my main beams work fine, it's my dipped beams that don't work. So I have to drive around with just sidelights on haha
-
Hiya noticed this problem for a while wince owning my C. When turning the sidelights on the headlight switch lights up but when clicked onto dipped beam the switch light goes out and the headlights don't come on. Has my switch gone?

Have you got a grey parcel shelf in good nick with no cutouts for speakers?
-
Alright fellow C owners. Need a few body parts, obviously must be in good condition with decent paint (alpine white code l90E) Early bonnet Early Front bumper Passenger door. Not bothered if the door is completely bare, as long as it has good paint work and no rust. Grey rear parcel shelf with no cut outs for speakers. If anyone's got any of these bits or knows someone give me a pm.

Door handle repair kit..........THEY ARE NOW AVAILABLE

Sorry I know I don't need to re-tumble my barrels with your repair kit, I'm just wondering in general. I do not have a key for the boot and passenger door, I was just wondering if I could re-tumble them myself so I have the same key through out the car -

I can defiantly open it from the inside via the boot! Haha. Can you re-shim the lock barrels yourself?
