  1. Sounds like a bargain from that description.
  2. In that case, not only should it be a simple fix but it'll likely be a cheap one too. Of course, there's no guarantee of either!
  3. If you mean EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valves then I'm pretty sure they're fitted entirely for reducing emissions.
  4. That's only partly true. Yes, it's digital so you'll get a picture. However, there are several versions of the HDMI standard, which all have different bandwidth capabilities. You might as well look for a cable that meets the latest standard (v1.4 at the time of writing) as you never know what you'll want to connect with it in the future. There's probably very little difference between any cables that are v1.4-rated though, despite their price. Less then a tenner should get you all you need.
  5. Isn't that what he was asking for help with?! Could it be something as simple as a coolant sensor fault? Does it only struggle to run from a cold start or does it do it every time it's started? If it's only from cold then surely it's lacking some fuel enrichment for some reason....and there can't be many reasons.
  6. There's nothing smooth about the power delivery of my Leon. I love the aggression and sharpened-feel of the throttle compared to the standard map.
  7. If you're expecting a K03s to hold 18 psi then prepare to be disappointed. Even 16 is a little high. My Leon is down to 14 or 15 by the redline and at 240+ bhp I figure I've squeezed all I can out of it. I see your point though, you should easily see a peak of 20 psi providing the map allows it. All this talk of electronic boost-controllers seems unnecessary though. There's clearly a bigger issue here somewhere. Once the car is running properly the VW boost-control system is more than adequate for the engine and turbo combination you're using. I'm also using a yellow spring in the Forge 007P. The K03s produces usable boost from 1500rpm so you'll hear a dump in pretty much every gear change if you've got an open filter. That's quite normal.
  8. $180,000,000 budget. Not that easily pleased apparently! I just watched Moon. I really liked it. Not particularly action-packed but a good story-line delivered in a not-over-the-top manner - 8/10
  9. I still fail to see the need. Like junkie and kev say, you're not going to prevent the boost dropping off with a K03 no matter what you do. If you want more boost to the red-line then fit a larger turbo and map it accordingly.
  10. I think he meant that he felt the styling had been wrecked.
  11. Like junkie says, a tenner isn't much fuel. At Norwich prices that's about 1.75 gallons, or about 26mpg if you're getting 45 miles from it. I average 27mpg in a Leon making 240bhp ish on a K03S. It doesn't sound like you're a million miles away. Has the car been on a dyno yet?
  12. i would expect about 18 constant really and 22 spike from what ive seem on the net, its got me sick now... it should deliver same boost- every gear period and not being bollox on fuel like it is aswell, im getting 45 mile to a tenner You're not going to see more than 15psi beyond about 5000rpm. I get a peak of 24psi.
  13. IMO age is more of a car-killer than mileage. However, if the oldest car you're looking at is a 2006 then I'm not sure that's even an issue.
  14. The DBW system has two throttle-pedal potentiometers for dual-validation. One increases in resistance as the pedal is pressed and the other decreases. If they fail to agree on the pedal position the ECU will enter 'limp' mode for safety. The car will idle but you'll get no boost and an extremely lazy throttle response. The throttle body alignment is just an automatic calibration of the throttle plate position. After a while the throttle plate may become slightly mis-aligned; this appears as jerky power delivery or boost dumping for seemingly no reason while driving. It's most noticeable under load and is not really something you'd notice at a standstill. The only way to properly align the throttle plate is with VAG-COM. There's some information about the procedure in THIS thread but you may have to register to see it. Do you have any way to scan the ECU for fault codes? This would be the logical place to start as I suspect your ECU is in limp mode for some reason.
  15. I have often thought similar things. Why even give you the potential to break the law / kill yourself when the car could easily be limited. I'm amazed to hear myself say it, but I agree. My work van was never awesome - it's a Vauxhall Combo 1.3 CDTI with about 60bhp - but could drag it's arse up to about a ton given enough room. It was limited to 76mph about a year ago and at the time I was properly miffed about it. Looking back I think it was a good thing. I'm never in a hurry any more and I spend way less time getting mad at people holding me up because it's me doing the holding up now.
  16. Having played both back to back for a while I can say that Forza 3 gets my vote. I'm sad to say I bought my PS3 specifically for GT5 and I fear it may now find its way onto eBay.
  17. I crashed at the bottom of a hill in my Corrado in February 2004. We'd had some proper heavy snow and I was driving back to Norfolk from Peterborough. I managed 81 of the 99 mile journey without trouble and then SMASH! I only go out in my own car on snowy days if I absolutely have to now. I'm less concerned about risking the work van though.
  18. The car list isn't half as impressive as I was hoping for to be honest. I'm hoping the tracks and the game-play make up for it.
  19. I haven't been this excited about a game release since Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. After five years of waiting this game better be epic.
  20. Looking great, and in some good company. That Nova Sport at number 16 takes me back. 100bhp at the wheels from a 1983-vintage 1.3 was pretty special. A mate of mine had one back in 1993, which he managed to smash into a wall and destroy. A real shame as I believe there were only 501 made.
  21. Weren't these the ones that were listed last week? I believe they'd reached a bid of £1200 ish and that was considered ridiculous. WTF does that make £1950?!
  22. Jay did that on his Corrado back in the day. It's owned by someone else now so, if you're reading, I hope you don't mind me using this picture to illustrate. My previous comments were based on the idea of a TDi style pipe in the standard cut-out :pukeright:
  23. That would look God-awful I'd imagine.
