£5500! For a 16v with a dodgy flow-meter! Christ.

how do i make my stereo turn on WITHOUT ignition??
bcstudent replied to Erickramirez's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Connect both the red and yellow power supply feeds to a permanent 12v source. -
I never did post all the pics from Snetterton. I should definitely get 'round to that...

"Ronnie's track exploits have been made possible thanks to his sponsor Addison Lee, London's leading minicab company" lol...like he couldn't afford it otherwise!

Pretty sure that's 14 working days.

I take it you're not married/engaged. I wish I could keep my bike in the living room! You'd be right! My last girlfriend loved the bikes in the living room though, at least she *said* she did :) No bikes indoors at the moment. I'm in the process of rebuilding my RGV250 as a Pepsi replica. The intention is to keep it indoors for good. As soon as the painter stops messing me around I'll be there.

Can you actually see the circlip recess? On my 16v I had to use a special tool I borrowed from VW to pull the gearbox output shaft through the flange in order to get the circlip in place. The output shaft was kind of sprung loaded.

If the idle is high then it's likely to be leaking air somewhere. Did you put a new inlet manifold gasket on?

Cazza's Storm- Gone :( ...S3 Has Arrived! :)
bcstudent replied to CazzaVR's topic in Members Gallery
No, I still haven't gotten around to it. I hardly use the car so it goes out of my mind until I understeer into the next roundabout! I'll keep my eyes open for a Whiteline ARB at a decent price, but I'm not *that* bothered about it just yet. -

The ARB...what diameter did you go for in the end? Is it 22mm, by chance? -
I don't think you'll get to many arguments with that statement. Certainly not from me. Modern EFI systems have developed far beyond the capability of carburettors though. Soundtrack aside, the only reason to use carbs over fuel-injection is a fear of electronics. The scope for (relatively) simple forced-induction with EFI is enough of an attraction in my eyes.

"You can't fix stoopid'!" :epicfail:

When did that happen? I can't find a reference to anything more than another inquiry online.

He most certainly does; he deserves a bit of a beating when he recovers too - assuming reports of his lack of licence and insurance are accurate. The people I feel sorry for are the farmer who's got one less fence, and the coppers who had to clean up the mess in the middle of the night. We all have, I'm sure. The point is we were licenced, taxed and insured at the time.

I've never seen a car so in need of a 1.8T conversion. There's one of those things parked near my house and, I have to say, I kinda like it.

Due to the age of the Corrado I don't think your tax is going to change much. As far as I'm aware you can just expect the same annual rise as past years - fiver or so. Somebody correct me if I'm wong.
-
60k is about cambelt time on the 1.8T models, but you're only looking at about £300 for the change (including a new water pump). I would expect the chains, guide and tensioner on the V6 engine to last much longer than that.

Yay, it's finally time to wheel the ol' bikes out of the living room and get some miles in. It seems like it's been a long time coming!

I swear to God, that track changed my life.

That reminds me. I still have a bunch of pics to upload from the Snetterton track day.

Time for a bump...

Corrados don't *have* to be expensive. Clearly you can spend as much on them as you like to make them into the car that you desire. I bought a Corrado because I wanted a cheap-ish car that was a bit more interesting than the run-of-the-mill stuff. I had it for four years; it never let me down and it cost me very little to keep on the road. That's only because I wasn't bothered about having perfect paintwork and stuff though. I guess it depends what's important to you about car ownership.
-
I think the closest you're going to get is the Haynes manual for a Passat that covers the 9A engine.

Is your Corrado the most unreliable car you've ever owned?
bcstudent replied to Jay2's topic in General Car Chat
I've never owned an unreliable car. I don't do many miles these days but I used to. I've only owned one car for less than three years; that was my second Mk2 Golf GTI that I had for 18 months. The Leon is the sixth car I've owned in 17 years and the newest (just under four years old) at the time of purchase. I consider myself very fortunate as I know a few people who've piled a fortune into some complete sheds.
