  1. They're who I use too, and similarly ludicrous price on my VR6 too. I don't understand how they're so much cheaper than so many other specialist insurers on Corrado's. They're also good to deal with apparently in the event of an accident - mate of mine insures his Scirocco MK2 with them, and they were very good when it got broken into a couple of years ago.

    Thanks for that Jim

  2. It sucks doesn't it . I was getting quotes for the T4 last year , I'm not married , just living with my Mrs . I accidentally put co habiting . The bloke from the ins company rang and asked for my boyfriends name ! . I explained I had made a mistake and he corrected it , only for my ins to rise by 25.00 ! So you get cheaper ins if your gay ??. Good luck in job hunting Ray .

    Thanks Rob.

Thats it shows you there must be no set rules, throw a dart at a dart board and thats the price i think.

  3. Just had a quote for my Corrado i was made redundant 5 weeks ago from the steel works, so had to put unemployed on a online quote. Got a phone call to say it would be £900!!, fell about laughing, thing is i would be paying it in full also what difference does this make to a quote, these under writers what to get in the real world. What a load of :censored:....So now i will be hammered for no fault of my own and pay through the nose for insurance, i need my car to go to interviews etc. :mad2:

  4. Not sure on the size and access is a pig unfortunately :( Will fire up the parts catalogue again in a bit and see if it states the size of the bolt head.

I found reaching down under the inlet manifold from the air box side yielded successful results without the need to remove any parts.

Looks like my nearest TPS is in chesterfield i'll give em a ring tomorrow. Thanks again Jim for your help. :thumbleft:

  5. May as well just replace them both as they're not expensive (ETKA saying about a tenner each). Part numbers are:

    028 919 081D - low pressure switch (blue)

    068 919 081 - high pressure switch (black)

    ETKA also shows a replacement seal / washer for each - part number N 013 811 5.

According to the diagram the high pressure switch is on the left as you look at the engine / oil cooler housing from the front, and low pressure on the right.

Cheers Jim & Mr16V , info is well appreciated .

Had a quick go getting them off earlier but ran out of day light. What size spanner is the large nut on the sensors? on top of the oil filter housing, it also looks a bit tight to get in to do the job, i hope it not strip half the car.

  6. Had a quick look on the forum, not very clear tbh. One of my sensors seems to be leaking oil, (VR6 2.9 litre) from the black plastic part where the wire pushes on. It's the left hand side sensor as you look at it from the top of the engine bay. There is two different ones i gather a white high pressure sensor and a blue low pressure sensor? (not sure on this).

Can anyone please help with best place to source and part numbers.

  7. Is the noise there when you are stationary and rev the car? If not it could be a cv joint, engine mount, steering joints / bushes etc most importantly check the charger is all good. Dont know if these will be the problem but if it was me i would be checking these first.

Good luck hope it's something simple.
