I agree with Kev there. Got Kenwood 7 x 10's in a custom MDF shelf with amplifier, but components in front with no amplifier. There is just too much "sound" coming from the rear and not enough up front. Of course I could always get an amplifier for the front but I think the "split" approach works best. For my next car (if I ever get one) will def be 2-ways up front with bass in the boot.

I actually got to sit in KITT 8) When I was a kid they had KITT outside a shopping centre in Cape Town for Mother's Day. All the kiddy's were lining up to sit in it and it actually talked ! I remember sitting in the driver's seat, looked around and then asked "Where's Michael ?" And then KITT said he's very sorry he couldn't be here today. Afterwards I thought there was someone sitting in the trunk or something listening in and answering ...

Well you know how rare colours and Grey leather goes ... well both my VR6's have been in rare colours wih grey leather. Both found using AutoTrader. First one was Blackberry second one was Twilight Violet. Still want to own a black one though. But with a grey leather interior. Think that would set it off nicely 8)

Yeah if you like the noise as well as the low-down power/torque then it's simple. Get a VR6 cos you can't beat the induction noise once it hits 4000 rpm. Even if like Kev you don't like the "roar" you can still get a replacement K&N panel air filter. And then spend £1000 and get a supercharger put on. Z-Engineering does a fantastic one - just ask BigPantsBaby. Get the best of both worlds 8)

How about uploading pics of all three to illustrate your choices ? I mean my car has all black, your car used to half black and red - but you don't like either ? I must say that the M3-style white top and red bottom looks cool. Matches the white front indicators.

Go for the half-tint look. Will only cost you £13 for a can of Tail Light Tint spray from http://www.GBdriver.co.uk I know you can get it form Halfords for a tenner but it's only a 250ml can. GB Driver sells a 400ml can so you can do two sets and split the cost ? And then your baby will look like her former glory:

Have I set an official record ... for the most written-off ?
Eug replied to Eug's topic in General Car Chat
Thanks for the offer. I for one am not too keen on the idea that a car has been "operated" on. So I'll probably sell it to try reclaim some of my losses. Might leave the country at the end of the year for a little while so not sure whether I'll use my mom's spare car until then or buy another one. Just fitted brand new tyres to those beautiful polished alloys so that seems a waste :( -
Have I set an official record ... for the most written-off ?
Eug replied to Eug's topic in General Car Chat
Thanks guys for all your comments. The witnesses saw the car from the front and said they looked Asian. Was 4 teenagers. Another witness in a car behind them said that car was speeding through High Beach car park. Damage not bad, although it needs a new door. Driver's wing slightly scratched under the side-repeater (well, where it used to be !) and rear wing needs a good beating ! I'll put up more details next week after my claim goes through. The MOT runs out on the 27th July and it's taxed until end of July. So I'll be storing the car off the road in Oxford (under a cover) and use my mum's car until I decide whether or not to get another one. Yes I'm gutted but at least time this was not my fault and I was not hurt. Anyone know where I stand legally if we can't trace the driver ? I mean it will count as a claim against me and I won't get my excess back :( -

Not sure if I'll tempt fate and get a 3rd although I'm in love with them and always glance back at my car after parking it. Wheels got plastic on them but polished off fine. -
OK now you'd think that I'm trying out to be a crash test dummy ... But as luck would have it ... I've had my beauitful new VR6 for exactly a month (after writing off the previous one in April) and was driving home through Epping Forest on Sunday evening. Can you see where this is going ... Approached a sharp right-hand bend in the road and a car came speeding around the corner on my side of the road (see skidmarks). He skidded, I swerved but he still smashed into my door and scraped along the side of my car. Pushed me off the road and by the time I managed to open my door he had sped off. Were two witnesses walking along side of road who managed to get half of the registration. I know the exact make/model/colour and the police said they can search the database with the given details and hopefully track the car down. If you see a White Toyota Corolla (hatchback) registration G 797 ??? with driver's wing/bumper damage please notify me ! So I'm left to pay my £350 excess ... and lose my no claims bonus ... bugger. Insurance have decided NOT to repair as it's a CAT C write-off. The good news to all your VR6 owners: Prices have now increased due to one more Corrado being taken off the road. Does this mean I've written off the most Corrado VR6's ?! Anyone fancy a project ? Might buy this one off insurance company to pass on. Got smooth 114K engine (totally standard) and grey heated leather. Hmmm ...

The cable with the white stripe around the end is the screen vent open-close cable and goes on top. The cable with the yellow stripe around the end is the face/feet cable and goes at the bottom. Easy to remember because the vent is on top, and the feet is obviously down below.

Not at all mate. Think you've connected to the wrong wire of the door-switch and shorted it. So your alarm thinks the doors open now. Does your interior light stay on when you close the door ? One way to check. Nick_Micouris The beeper does sound like a more up to date version and I'm sure Maplins sells one too. I'll let you know my findings and opst here, and if you could do the same.
-
I bought a little 90p buzzer from Maplins (the smallest I could find) and wired it up as per instructions above. Works a treat ! It's so simple to do and only took me 10 min max. Only thing I did differently is instead of cutting the headlight red wire, I just sliced the insulation and wrapped my new length of wire around it into the incision. I did the same for the end of the door-light switch where I just wrapped the new length of wire around the clip at the end. Obviously used insulation tape ...

Could anyone suggest as to which relay could be the culprit ? If there was a fault would VAG-Com pick it up ?
-
Can someone explain this ... Sometimes when I turn the ignition to ON and press the clutch slightly, I can hear an on/off clicking sound coming from behind the glovebox. It's the same noise as the indicator relay makes when it's flashing. Car still starts fine :?:

Kenwood CD changer --> Kenwood headunit probs
Eug replied to joebloggsVR69's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
CD-changers and head-units are not interchangeable if the connectors are different. Certainly not between two different makes of head-unit/CD-changer anyway. They use different software. -
I just rung Sheppards too and the guy was extremely helpful. Also gave me "Corrado Club" discount :D 2 x Lupo driver's side wipers (arm/blade) 1 x Bonnet Release Cable 1 x Brass trumpet/bolt _____ £67.70

What kind of LED's are used behind the screens, and what kind for the 3 on top of the dials ? How many would I need and what kind of fitting are they each ie 286 slim wedge: 501 normal wedge: Twist fit:

And does every BMW come with a manual that teaches you the Headlight Morse Code ? When they're behind you on the motorway ... Flash ... flash ... f-l-a-s-h ... flash-flash-flash ... flash-flash ... means "Get outta my way !"

Looks great. That's the *proper* way of doing a Cold Air Induction. I'm gonna make my own like PhatVR6 did. Either use some SAMCO hose or try get a lovely polished 3" pipe from somewhere ... but where ...

Just leave the damn thing up then - looks way cooler anyway  The other day I was showing a mate how you could manually stick it up, and then I noticed one of the previous owners had stuck a sticker underneath with http://www.bigstiff.co.uk written on it 8) It's website with this dude who calls himself "The Max Power Rude Boy": Anyone know who it is ?
