    How long would you expect a standard gearbox to last ? I'm going to view another VR6 and the owner said the gearbox was replaced at about 80 000 miles because the syncromesh had gone and it was having trouble getting into 2nd/1st. It's done about 110 000 miles now. Is this anything to worry about, since a completely new gearbox has since been installed ?

    I have one VW flip / switchblade key for sale for £30 incl P&P. It has 3 buttons (incl boot release) and a panic button on the side. All you need to do is get a blank blade cut and install it as per these instructions: http://www.geocities.com/sebeck26/Switc ... /index.htm

    Cheers guys I think I might just stick with the VR6 in the end. Perhaps remove the K&N induction kit which is probably sucking in much more fuel as well as air.

    Mine gets about 22 mpg on average around town. It does have a K&N Induction kit fitted though. But I don't always floor it. I usually drive up to about 3000 rpm. If I reset the MFA on a motorway at about 70 then I get about 30+ mpg.

    No I've got a VR6 already. Thinking of buying a G60 and swapping interiors. I'm quite attached to my leather - but not to my fuel bill !

    OK who can be the first to tell me: Will a heated leather interior from a '95 VR6 go in a '93 G60 ? I have heard that there are 2 kinds of door card styles. Are these two interchangeable ??? Do the G60's have the wiring/plugs in place to take the heated seats ? Your input most appreciated.

    Spotted a Dark Green one on side of road with AA Van parked in front of it (hope it wasn't serious) last night on A412 just outside Oxford. And a White one on M40 near High Wycombe Saturday round 1pm. Anyone here ?

    What about the REAR wiper ? When I press my wiper lever forward, the rear wiper comes on intermittent by default. To stop it, you would think to press it forwards again ... but then it goes on again ! Only way I've figured out to get it to STOP, it to press the lever forward while in mid-swipe. Is this correct :?:

    Thanks exturbo2003. Any idea WHERE I can get my switchblade key reprogrammed to activate my Logic 900 Alarm ? Dealers quoted £40 to reprogram but I assumed that was for the transponder programming.

    Well I've got a Logic 900 Total closure alarm fitted. And my key does have a transponder innit - checked with locksmith. So then all I do is get a transponder programmed from another key, cut the transponder out and "insert" it into my switchblade key. Other solution (non-safe) is to stick the transponder behind the dash. That way you'll never use it - but I've got an Alarm fitted anyway.

    Cheers Chris. Not too sure I want an extra bulge in my pocket :lol: What I think might be better to do is get a copy-key cut from a plain metal blank. That way you're guaranteed to have lots of metal for when making the groove. Where there's a willy there's a way ... watch this space 8)

    Ok so you've got your flip-key ... and you've got a spare key cut to replace the "blade" ... and you've also got your Alarm fob ... Now I don't see the point of carrying around a flip-key (with three useful buttons) and then also carrying the alarm fob on your key-ring. Certainly the 3 buttons on the flip-key can be programmed to the same frequency as your alarm ? Anyone done this ?

    Wow I only average about 15-20-ish round town ... is there something I should know about ?! On motorways this increases to about 30-ish :?

    Hi guys. Just my 2p worth ... go for the VR6 if you like your engines standard. Go the G60 route if you like modding your cars. PS you may recognise my car in the avatar ... it looks like AndyVR6's pic ... but it's mine now mwahahaha PS Andy when we gonna see your new car in your avatar :?:
