DGTi 0 Posted February 17, 2005 I would still be living with the old 'C' if I had not found this site and solved it's go slow problem and restored my faith in the might VR6.... well here goes then. Since I have owned my 'C' I never thought it as very fast & after owning countless MK 1's & 2's I always looked up to the VR6 as the best of the best. Even from the first test drive my Mk 1 felt quicker. Yes the VR was fast once it got going but it always seemed hesitant. I had a few boy racer moments with other things and felt let down by VW. That was until I started reading these forums and found other people who had trouble and offered help others. I eventually took it to a dyno tune centre and found it was showing a Hall Sender fault!!! Twenty odd pounds later from VW and about 30 mins in the garage and well fu@k me and completely new car. It now goes like a rocket & pulls so strong I just can't stop driving it around. From a standing start it's a monster. Put my foot down in any gear and away it goes! no more press, wait..then power, it's amazing. I can't begin to tell you what a smile it's put on my face. So from now on RICE is defiantly on the menu!! If it's not running like it should, misfire, down on power or hesitant. Get reading on here! You will find the answers. Cheers All

godskitchen 0 Posted February 17, 2005 This forum is GREAT i can say without ANY problems that some people on this forum are far more qualified than people that are within the VAG when it comes to the Corrado! Keep up all the fine work!
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 17, 2005 The cam sensor was dead on mine when I bought it too. Mine was also a different car after it was replaced. I wonder if that's why so many people think the VR is slow? They just haven't driven one that's running properly :D
Majik 0 Posted February 17, 2005 Is this problem also apparent on the G60s or is it just the knock sensor that makes the car run bad?
Henny 0 Posted February 17, 2005 Majik, knock sensor, blue temp sender, Hall sensor, lambda sensor and ECU -> Throttle body vacuum hoses are the common ones that mess up on a G60... hummm... that's pretty much every sensor on a G60...
samm_cvr6 0 Posted February 17, 2005 yea, can't agree moe, I couldn't really care less for 0-60 figures, when I test a car, I like to find a nice straight, do 30mph in 4th and put you'r foot down, this is where you really see how flexible the VR is, she just keeps on pulling. DGTi 0 Posted February 17, 2005 Thanks for the replies lads. Hope to bump into more 'C' owners at this years shows. There's still loads more things I need help with lol

I wonder if that's why so many people think the VR is slow? They just haven't driven one that's running properly Some questions from a newbie here, 1- where is the sensor? 2-How do you know if it's knacked? 3-Is there a way of testing it? 4-Is it a cheap and easy job to replace? I know this might make me seem thick  but I've not been under the bonnet too much
DaveVR6 0 Posted April 9, 2005 id like to know the answer to the above questions as well, my C seems stodgy at lower revs and only takes of at about 4k.
dr_mat 0 Posted April 9, 2005 "stodgy at lower revs" is a characteristic of the VR6 engine.. As for testing/diagnosing the cam position sensor, it's really a job for running the engine diagnostics. If it's failed, it'll be reported as a fault code by the ECU, usually.
DaveVR6 0 Posted April 9, 2005 its just over the last week, it seems to have got stodgy-er!! and i thought i it was misfiring yesterday, but it seemed fine today..??
dr_mat 0 Posted April 9, 2005 Well, depends what you mean by stodgy, really. The VR is only producing about 130lbft till 3500 rpm, then you get this huge slug of extra torque that takes you to the redline. They're all like that...
mistrall 0 Posted April 9, 2005 is there anything like this prob on the valvers?

Veearrhsix 0 Posted October 11, 2007 I've had similar "problems". If I put a fuel additive in to the petrol it tends to perk it up a bit, but although I'm a novice to the VR6 C., it does seem spongy on the accelerator, and laggy at high 1,500 - 2,000 rpm, and the same at 5,000 + rpm. Who can I go to for a VR6 diagnostic in Manchester? - Where do all you guys go for the special Corrado care? Nice engine note though! :D P.S. from 70 - cough hundred cough ten mph, a BMW 1 series diesel something or other left me for dead on the M60 today. I felt so ashamed of myself. But I waved well done to him. Gutted with it's performance since buying it from my dad. Forgive the allegory, but the (my) Corrado was the porn star of it's day, that's still expected to deliver but just can't get it up anymore! :? It's a bugger. :elephant:
