What parts you replaced in your ownership?!?

Just wondering if i have 'one of them' Corrados, or its just em in general.

 

What parts have you replaced in what time span?

 

Lets see who wins!!

 

ME:- in just over 18 months or so

 

4 springs

2 shocks

3 rear wheel bearings

2 new copper brake pipes

1 stub axle

1 clutch

1 set rear discs and pads

1 set front discs and pads

Cam belt

3 or 4 services

Gear linkage cable

Head gasket

Rear bump stops and rear suspension mounts

Front suspension top mounts

Second hand MFA

Oil cooler

2 new sets of front tyres, on 3rd now

Front engine mount, and welding on bracket

HT leads

Distributor cap and rotor arm

Second hand pain in the arse botton coolent pipe

1 ball joint

2 new oil pressure switches

1 water thermo switch

Windscreen

Battery

Alternator + belt

 

Not all of it, and not in order, and doesnt include the stupid amount of hours pottering around doing little things will add as i remember it all!

I have to say myC has not been any trouble at all since i bought it in May last year, i've had the charger re-bult and a couple of services, cut the noisy cat heat shield off and thats it. But its only done 53K. Still managed to spend plenty of ££ on Coilovers and Rims though !

On 2nd Set of Front tyres...Toyo Proxes are Shit!

Just Replaced Rears

Drivers Door Handle

Parcel shelf....4 one that had already been butchered for speakers

Front O/S Indicator

Rear Lights for cool M3 stlye Ones

O/S bottom balljoint

Both strut tops

N/S front wheelbearing and drive flange

Sump.....seen how low my car is!

2x Rear flexi brake hoses

2 x rear callipers replaced with pissrat ones

 

Soon to be added:

 

Gas Flowed and Rebuilt Head

Schrick 260 Fast Road Cams

50mm Inlet

Magnex 4-Branch

 

VR6 Chasing here I come :)

since August 2001.........32k miles

 

2 x H/light switches

oil cooler seals

Fuel pump

8 oil and filter changes (synta~gold bar 1)

2 coolant changes

2 brake/clutch fluid changes

1 Gearbox oil change

2 sets of front discs and pads

1 set of rear discs and 2 sets pads

2 CV boots

2 bottom ball-joints

2 top mounts

1 thermostat and housing and pipe

1 coolant temp sensor

1 serpentine belt

2 sets of plugs

1 set of Quantum plug leads

4 tyres 205/50/vr15

1 brake pipe

3 sets wiper blades

1 cam pos sensor

1 pair rear wheel bearings/abs rotor cages

1 driver-side bolster

1 clutch footrest

 

then of course there is the "mods" :twisted:

 

Miltek exhaust(o/e still had 12+ months life left)

Fuel pump twice, once an old spare then fitted a brand new one.

All calipers, disks, pads, hoses and copper pipes replaced, then front pads again.

All in 19 months and 12 thousand miles and the car is currently in need of a new bottom end. :roll:

4 x original BBS wheels with Toyo shoes (to replace silly 17 inch wheels that ruined the ride)

2 x Mk 3 GTi rear calipers

Fuel hose from fuel rail

Front discs and pads and JMR precautionary G-Lader rebuild following Jabba "stage 4" in 2001

 

By the way I paid £3450 for a J reg G60 with 112,000 miles on the clock and I've probably done about 1500 miles since October when I bought it!

I'm going to Stealth soon for Koni TA's & H&R springs along with new bushes, top mounts etc.

Modifications:

See my signature, athough the exhaust started blowing and needed replacing and the dampers were knackered

 

Things to do

VR6 front calipers discs and MK4 Golf rear calipers and goodridge lines (waiting for rear calipers and front discs)

Rebuilt Head with new stem seals, polishing (in progress)

JOM front spring caps (bought but not on yet)

Focal 27V2 (bought but not in yet)

 

Bought the C for £2850 with 88k on the clock and a stamped log book, but no receipts at all. I'm guessing it hasn't been looked after, and wish I'd taken more time to look at other C's before buying.

In 12 months or so...

 

Front / side of the block coolant flanges & gaskets

Black and blue temp senders

2 sets of tyres (Eagle F1 GSD3's and Toyo Proxes T1-S)

1 set of alloy wheels

2x oil and filter changes

2x lots of spark plugs

Coolant flush / replace

Gearbox oil flush / replace

Cam belt

Aux belts

Tensioner

Replaced the dodgy VW crank bolt (feel a bit safer too! :))

Driver side (outer?) CV joint

Fuel hose that goes into the fuel rail

Infinity basslink to replace dead one

Front VT engine mount insert

All the sunroof bits and pieces to make it work again

Wiper arms and blades (Lupo arms.. yaay)

Throttle cable ordered.. but not yet fitted :)

 

So not as much as some people, but enough! :)

And VW's are supposed to be reliable! I swapped a perfectly servicable 26,000 mile economical car with adequate performance for a thirsty and troublesome car who's parts are very expensive. Again, wouldn't change it for anything (apart from a TVR Sagaris)

if you think parts for the corrado are expensive try re-building a mk1 mr2 most of the parts are double the price of vw and for a similar age car are nowhere near as reliable as a corrado.

i think its just most corrado owners want the best for their cars and the corrado does seem to make minor faults more obvious, on most cars worn rear axle bushes are not so noticeable but on the corrado they seriously effect the handling
