Chris VR6nos 0 Posted May 1, 2005 I narrowly avoided an Subaru Impreza landing on the bonnet and roof of my Skyline today as it glanced another car which was parked and flipped it up in the air to come down on it's roof on the road, I'll see if i can post some pics and video in a different thread when i come back from Austria. gradeAfailure 0 Posted May 2, 2005 Swore lots after breaking down yesterday evening and finding out this morning that VW alarm fitters obviously couldn't find their arse with a map back in 1992... Swore more today after having a hissy fit at a rear electric window switch that wouldn't come apart, then destroyed it in a fit of immature rage...! Realised that spare ones are particularly hard to find, so swore some more for good measure... Gotta love 'em...
Guest Posted May 2, 2005 Cleaned inside all wheelarches, polished inner rims, treated the leather, cleaned all black exterior trim, cut back paintwork and applied Swissol, cleaned engine bay, fitted two new foglights, changed oil, cleaned windows inside and out
scarlett 0 Posted May 3, 2005 got driven insane by funny whining grinding noise coming off engine again that no one can pin point... spent 10 min in petrol station trying to persuade her to start.... spent an hour getting filthy under car trying to get plug out to get all the excess oil out and failed - swore lots - went for drive up backroads with my mate and got utterly whipped by his Volvo Td... kerbed front alloy on kerb at KFC drive thru!!! ggggggrrrrrrr!!!! roll on nxt weekend! :D
Big-ted 0 Posted May 3, 2005 Masked, rubbed down, re-masked, filled, primed, and began to spray rear bumber. Ran ou of paint halfway through, so will have to re-do all this when I have more time/paint/good weather. In the meantime my previously black bumber looks distinctly grey and patchy.... :(
gradeAfailure 0 Posted May 3, 2005 Got my red/blue illumination on the instrument panel done (only just finished it!) - screens are slightly the wrong shade of blue if I'm perfectly honest, but damn it looks better than the green...! Fitted late-spec Corrado needles too... Just gotta wait for my three replacement electric window switches to arrive so that I can butcher them all into one, with red LEDs, then do the spider for the aircon buttons and the red transformation is complete! Yay me!
ZippyVR6 0 Posted May 8, 2005 TUNES :D fitted new Alpine MP3 player and alpine Components up front. Started work on the Stealth Shelf. Oh and a good dose of autoglym.
Henny 0 Posted May 9, 2005 drove 280 miles to Inters, then 280 miles home again... Average speed on the way down: 52MPH...(Fecking M1/A14 junction!) On the way back: 72MPH...  Still haven't had to do ANY engine work to the car since I bought it other than the rad change when it split on the end tank... 8)
fla 9 Posted May 9, 2005 Finally refitted teh carpet after washing it thoroughly and got two nice new grease marks on the back refitting the front seats. Oh the joys of a bige interior. At least the carpet now looks beige and not grey! Changed the side markers to clear (tt ones) and put clear mastic around the edges. Rubbed down and polished the speedies. Redid the dash lights to blue (new setup) just need to reinstall.

randal 0 Posted May 9, 2005 Heheh, snap! With the very kind assistance from Mr gradeafailure aka Dave, I've got me dash clocks in red and blue. Yay! Switches left to do, but already it looks a darn sight better than VW green IMO. Actually, it looks a bit porno with the red ambience from the Passat light. Hehhe seedy... gradeAfailure 0 Posted May 9, 2005 Heheh, snap! With the very kind assistance from Mr gradeafailure aka Dave, I've got me dash clocks in red and blue. Yay! Glad you like it buddy! Did absolutely nowt to mine today, but bought an OEM thermostat to replace the suspected faulty GSF one that I fitted on Sat... 128degrees oil temp/ 95degrees coolant temp @ 80mph anyone?! Roll on tomorrow so I can fit it...

gradeAfailure 0 Posted May 10, 2005 Drained coolant (again), replaced thermostat (again) - this time with VW one, refilled coolant. Read lots and lots of threads about only using G12+, even after a full flush, realised I'm gonna have to do the damn thing for a third time and waste a tenner's worth of Halfords finest... Just fed up with it now, especially as I have to take the power steering pump bracket off to get to the thermostat housing, and end up getting covered in coolant... p*ssed off... Phil K 0 Posted May 14, 2005 today I be mostly polishing car parts... have done both front and rear near side callipers (see first pic).. really happy with the way they look now (if a bit small) photo's really don't do them justice! Oh, and a big thanks to Campbel for all your help 8) and then I finished with a bit of an engine bay polish (second pic) I had already done the manifold when it was off during the re-build but it was in need of a once over... my god it's so much easier to do when off the engine, I now have cut, grazed and sore knuckles and fingers to prove it  I also gave the underside of the bonet a good clean, the paint looks better than on the outside now :D offside calipers to do tomorrow.. better pics to follow! gradeAfailure 0 Posted May 14, 2005 Got very irritated after draining, flushing, and refilling the coolant for a third time and still not getting the engine to run cool; very nearly put a lump hammer through the windscreen just to teach the damn thing a lesson... Grrr.
PhatVR6 0 Posted May 15, 2005 I had to take off the propshaft, cats, bumper. front panel, inlet manifold and strut brace, just to remove the downpipes, twat them with a hammer, then put it all back together.... fitted the air con compressor. sound deadended under the rear seats and passenger side. wired up speedo. looked puzzledly at the bonnet lifeter, then decided I didn't know where to put it!
