bcstudent 0 Posted October 22, 2005 Honestly, I think you'll get more help if you provide some extra detail. What the heck does a 2CV run like?
billinjah 0 Posted October 22, 2005 sorry mate but thats normal for a vr! :D
lukeage 0 Posted October 22, 2005 First thing is to run a VAG-COM and see what faults it picks up. This may lead you right to the bugbear rather then end up replacing parts that have no defects.
vrmillerman 0 Posted October 24, 2005 ok i have replaced the cat oxygen sensor and put a new exhaust on this has not cured the problem :( the car sounds like its not firing on all cylinders i have a copy of vagcom and theres a problem saying controler not found i tried the maf sensor from my other halfs vr6 sharan and that does not change the problem so its not that i have checked all fuses there are all ok i checked if all the relays were seated correctly they are not too sure what to check now any ideas from any one that may know or have any other ideas and ps a 2cv is a citreon with 2 cylinders kel
dazzyvr6 0 Posted October 24, 2005 if its not firing on all cylinfers then the first thing id check was the plugs and leads, especially no. 1 and
chrishill 0 Posted October 24, 2005 spark plugs, plug leads, distributor (cap/rotor if its a dizzy version rather than a later coilpack).
vrmillerman 0 Posted October 24, 2005 cheers im finishing work soon i will check these items out and its a coil pack i guess as it does not have a dizzy and cap did a vr6 ever come will a dizzy and rotor ? by the way mines a 95 m vr6 in metalic blackberry black leather magnex cat back system k&n 57i and a shagged engine at the mo normally very quick any ideas of which type of plugs to use i think its currently got champion eon2's and the std plug leads any help would be good kel
Dutch24V 0 Posted October 24, 2005 VR's did come with a dizzy - pre '93 cars I think. You should be using the OEM NKG plugs only and I'd check these first, especially 1 & 6 for fouling. If the plugs look ok, spray a fine mist of water around the engine bay and see if you get some sparks (especially around the coil pack area) The coil pack has 3 coils and one coil fires 2 cylinders. If your only missing on one cylinder only I doubt it's the coil pack, if on 2 this is more than likely the culprit. If it's missing it won't be the MAF btw, but, depending on your ECU code it's unlikely a MAF from a Sharan will work anyhow. Dutch
dr_mat 0 Posted October 24, 2005 The late VRs use the ..462 MAF, which is shared with the Sharan. Or so I'm told...
vrmillerman 0 Posted October 24, 2005 does anybody know the part number for the ngk plugs ?????? kelly
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted October 24, 2005 BKR5EU for regular or BKR5EUP for platinum. The dealer only sells the latter and they're expensive. Try http://www.sparkplugs.co.uk for a cheaper alternative. Next day service.

RW1 0 Posted October 27, 2005 Fault codes: 00561 – Mixture adaption limits exceeded. 00553 – MAF defective or wiring short. 00518 – Throttle Position Sensor defective or wiring short. 00611 – Ignition Coil Pack Output 3 Short. The common point to all these faults is one of three things. But first check the fuses on the lower edge of the fuse / relay panel. An intermittent ignition switch in the steering column breaking power to the ECU. Or A troublesome Fuel Pump relay (cover number 167). Or A troublesome ECU relay (cover number 109). Do not change out the Coil pack, MAF, TPS. They are red herrings to the cause. From the faults, the order to test is the ignition switch 12 volts contacts. Next the fuel pump relay “167” and finally the ECU relay “109”. The blocked immobiliser is sorted by spraying a little WD40 on the brown 3 pin connector (shiny black cable) that plugs into the immobiliser box located inside the dash behind the headlight switch. The other box is the spoiler control. 00513 – Engine speed sender but it also appears if the ECU is read with the ignition switched on but the engine is not running. Ignore. . vrmillerman 0 Posted October 28, 2005 cheers rw1! iwill check the relays as i sometimes have a funny thing happen when i start the c she fires up and dies then i give a swift wack to the lower dash where the relays are and she fires up and stays running i have taken the coil pack off and found large cracks around the plugs for 1 and 6 i sealed then with so liquid rubber and she started up on all 6 nice then went out for a test drive and lasted for about a mile and a half then went back to running real rough like on 4 or less my girly has a sharan vr6 for the kids(as you do gotta be a vr) i was gonna try my coil pack on that to see what happens my thinking is if the sharan does the same its the coil pack i will let you know sat afternoon when i test this kel
