scrappydog 0 Posted November 24, 2005 does anyone know anything about TCS (Townsend Car Sales), which I think are based in Tamworth. http://www.townsendcarsales.co.uk/GetDe ... 2&pageid=1 I'm looking to by a VR6 and they *seem* to have a number of good priced ones there. Is it too good to be true? cheers, Andy
Walesy 0 Posted November 24, 2005 Never heard of them mate but those vr6's certainly look nice and are priced very reasonably , especially for trader prices.
jackroo 0 Posted April 16, 2006 Hi has anyone still not tried these yet? They are just around the corner from me, so I decided to give the guy a ring he said I can only view the cars week days, as they are kept in a lock up and he does not keep them at home. He sounded alright, I think I will go check out the black VR6 they have with 82k on the clock for ale for £4375. I will let you guys know what its like. Got my buyers guide all printed off to :0). Oh by the way he said he has 6 Corrados in stock at the minute 1 G60 rest are VR6's. However mine is the lowest mileage, I say mine lol is that me jumping the gun or what. Just though some one else maybe be looking, the silver one looks mint did not ask about that tho. http://www.townsendcarsales.co.uk/GetDe ... 2&pageid=
sciroccotune 0 Posted April 16, 2006 im not 100% sure but this may be the same guy that made me got all the way to see a car from newcastle and it turned out to be a big big dog! it was while ago and he was based near derby is all i remember about the location. basically i told him i was after a car with a really good body and was not to bothered about the motor. he said that the car i wanted to see was in top nick body wise. Turned out that it had one side resprayed badly and must have been in a frontal crash. Also he told me that the early models did not have an auto spoiler! AS i say im NOT SURE if this is the same guy but just be on the look out as always :-)
jackroo 0 Posted April 16, 2006 ok cheers mate, its in Ashby De La Zeus of something like that if that rings a bell, Its quiet near Derby. I think between Derby and Leicester where I live. Did he have a few for sale then to? What did he look like? I will try and get a postive ID on him when I go.
sciroccotune 0 Posted April 16, 2006 he was average hight with a moderate to stocky build with short hair which was a light colour. sorry im useless with descriptions  it was out side of derby as i had to get a taxi to the trainstation when i didnt buy the car grrr (must have wasted £90 on train and taxi!!!). As i say mate just keep an eye out. He did have a few for sale at the time also, but i could just have been unlucky
jackroo 0 Posted April 16, 2006 ok will look out for someone who looks average lol. I will see what he is like I will take my buyers guide from off of here and let you guys know what I thought once I have seen it. I may also take a camera and take some pics if I have any questions about anything as everyone seems to know lots on here. I know what you mean about cost of travelling when I drove to Shropshire to look a a G60 it cost me loads, probably on £30 in petrol but must have been same again keep the Girlfriend happy whilst on the journey, stopping off etc ah well should be worth it in the end. fatdaz 0 Posted October 13, 2006 my m8 bought a g60 of this guy a couple of weeks ago, good price for a dealer, tidy car, seemed an honest bloke aswell. ;) Alls well so far :)
TIMMYVR 0 Posted October 13, 2006 I know a chap who bought a vr6 from TCS, apart from wear and tear like brake pads, its been a good car.
Louis 0 Posted February 6, 2007 I rang him last week to see a couple he had in stock when I was looking, he seemed very awkward on the phone and didn't seem as if he really wanted to sell one, I ended up not going. After I'd told him which ones I was interested in, he then told me, conveniently, that someone was already seeing those same two on the saturday morning so if I wanted to be sure to buy one I'd have to go in the evening on the friday (in the dark). I decided that this was a sign and didn't call back.
gg7aph 0 Posted June 16, 2007 That all sounds mighty familiar. I bought my VR6 from TCS - his name is Richard Townsend. I thought the same thing too - he had no people skills which is bad considering he's a car salesmen. Didn't want to talk, didn't want to give details of cars over the phone and because he knew I'd come from Newcastle he CERTAINLY wasn't going to budge on the price. I too got the line about "someone else coming to look at the car the next day - so I'd better snap it up now" he advised me. Mind you, he was nice and chatty when I returned the next week with a wad full of cash for him. His wife even made me and my dad a cuppa. That said my car has been fine, is in good nick with genuine service history. The only thing is i was lucky as the car I originally rang about was a complete dog and looked like someone had shot it with a shot gun on the front - stone chips everywhere! I spotted the one I now own in the corner of his yard and ended up buying that one. He DOES sell from his home, not just his lock up. And if you are buying a VR6 make sure it's got the front grille badge on. Mysteriously every single VR6 he had did NOT have a grille badge. First thing I did after buying my car was search ebay for one and guess what? Who's selling them for £30....but our mate Richard!
poll250 0 Posted June 16, 2007 I bought one from him in January, "luckily" for me (in the long run!) 2 days later someone went into the back of me and wrote it off. When negotiating with the insurance for a settlement it came out that it had previously been written off in 2006. I thought that buying from a dealer would mean I'd avoid things like that coming up. When I contacted him he just denied all knowledge of it being a previous write off and offered me a ridiculously low buy-back price. Just beware when buying from him and treat it as you would if you were buying privately - get it checked! Andy
Rob Heath 0 Posted June 17, 2007 I personally havent had any dealins with him, but I know that he deals in Beemers aswell. My mate brought an immaculate M3 off him, proper minter. The bloke thought it had head gasket trouble, my mate thought otherwise. Anyway, he got it for a low price (about 5k), got a rubber seal out of his van and fixed the problem (Some housin was leakin)  . Its now worth about 7k
j16jrf 0 Posted June 20, 2007 this is where i bought my car from. Mechanically the car is fine and he assured me it had never been painted. The car came with full vw history and I was well chuffed until i got it home and gave it its first polish. Turns out the car had a full SHIT respray with bits of laquer coming off. So i got the history out and rang the previous owner dreading the car had been involved in a crash or something. He assured me the car just had a few scratches and nothing that would have required painting, but for him to get best price I suppose the car has to appear mint. SO obviously the dealer had the car painted cheap to tidy it up. I emailed him about him blatently lying to me and to this day have had no response. He is a very strange man with no people skills and as stated does not budge on price if you are travelling to see him. His wife also made me a cuppa and then he was the nicest man in the workd when money changed hands. The car has never let me down mechanically and I did a VW search on the history and it all checked out and the car passed the HPI check which was all great peace of mind. I would make sure you go through the car as if it is a private sale as said before and dont listen to a word he says. He has a jeep and the reg is tricky so he is a car dealer called Tricky RIcky ( says it all really )
CazzaVR 0 Posted June 22, 2007 So TCS are also 'Tricky and Wendy' who obviously buy and sell Corrados, but take bits such as badges off them and sell them for stoooopid rip-off prices on Ebay. Badges with start prices of £30, grommits for the speedo dials- £15 etc etc!!! They've changed their Ebay name now- can't remember what it is. If you're gonna buy a car off them, make sure all the trim and badges are present- if not, insist that they get replaced and don't be fobbed off. What's wrong with people? Wish there was more honesty in the car business :(
Jim 2 Posted June 22, 2007 Don't think its the same people mate...

I have spoke to the guy before and he isn't the best communicator,BUT in a recent transaction on Ebay, I bought a Momo steering wheel, I Paid Tues, received Thurs, it wasn't till I got his full name and address I realized who I was dealing with, I thought he was sound :) His Ebay user name, top_speed_190
j16jrf 0 Posted June 25, 2007 100% the same people. my car had no front badge and no triangle or first aid kit, went on ebay to find them for sale and by guess who just days after i had picked the car up. They may not have been from my car but if they werent it was very convenient

Fubar 0 Posted June 25, 2007 This guy lives about 2 mins from my house in Swadlincote so if anyone of you would like me to run around to check out a car he has for sale rather than you drive 200 mile to see it just PM me and i would be happy to sort you out. rapid_rocco 0 Posted June 25, 2007 I live in Derby, and am willing to dash round to check any out to save anyone a long round trip. The guy sounds like a right joker, dont want anyone wasting time and money going to view a C which isnt entirely as described. Likewise, just drop us a PM, be happy to help... safe
grimmy 0 Posted June 26, 2007 I've been up to see this guy, and he seemed fine to me. Not necessarily a "Corrado Specialist" as he states. He just buys and sells them, didn't seem particularly knowledgeable, and had never heard of this forum. I bought a 2.0 16v from him, which when i got home wouldn't start and was revving its tits off when warm, so i obviously wasn't at all happy, but he gave me a full refund on the car. Seemed genuine enough i thought, but that blue one had also had a fresh respray that wasn't all that great, which he denied all knowledge of. Worth considering as he does get a fair few cars go through is hands, but as people say, just treat it as any other private sale and check everything. After all he's trying to make a living out of it...
