chrishill's NEW corrado!

Recommended Posts

made you look! :D

Its not a Corrado, its a mk3 GTI

Its a 5 door, 95(N) reg 8v GTI in what I think is Mystic Blue (dark purply blue) with mint heated leather and 81k on the clock, just serviced, cambelt changed last year, rear axel bushes changed, recent new coil, multilock jobby....

couple of light scratches, one small parking 'ding' but nothing to complain about on a ten year old car.

 I hope so Jim, from what I've read mk3's are problem free, but all the issues seem easily resolved and alot of them are the same ones the corrado has! for a 8v its actually fairly nippy, I was expecting a real slow-coach.

now, how do I persuade the missus a few cosmetic tweeks are 'vital'...

8v engines have lots of nice torque at the bottom end - makes them feel nice and quick, and they are especially good at town type driving.

LOL, that's why I bought my diesel golf instead of a gti. I bought the golf because I want a cheap runaround and I knew if I got a gti I'd want to do things to make it better. At least with the diesel I hate it so much I have no inclination to do anything to it!!

nah, all i want is to lower it over the 17's I already have, and possibly pop on a debadged grille, I wont take it any further than that becuase the stuff I'd want to do styling-wise isnt cheap! I'd like to colour-code it all and remove the gti arches and boot spoiler, but it aint going to happen this lifetime!

Get a cult society rear plinth, colour code it and enjoy new smoothness. I think they are awesome as the lock is hidden.

Glad to see you are back in the saddle

actually, the rear lock button sticks (just needs grease) so that could be all the excuse I need to get a CS one :D

yep, they need a good clean up and a polish which I can do over xmas, I'm also toying with trying to sand out the kerb marks from the accident myself, since the local wheel refurb place (S.E.M) said they couldnt do them due to plastic bolts! need to fund a suspension drop too before they go on, which is why so many bits of the VR are popping up on ebay and on here for sale!

examples of mk3s on AG's

love the white one in the petrol station, although i think they may need spacing judging by the black one, since they dont stick out as far as I'd like :)

the only problem I can see so far is that there seems to be a very 'set' path when it comes to modding the mk3. colour code it, remove the GTI arches, lower it over 17's and slap on a badgeless grille. Admittedly it does look nice, but it seems like everyones done it

true enough, it just seems like there are more accepted routes to take with the corrado to make it individual. maybe i've not spent as much time looking at golf as i have corrados and cant see the subtle tweeks yet. I think I'm just pining after a corrado TBH, nothings going to come up to standard!

pics added to the first post. Needs a good clean and T-cut in some places where bird poo has been left on the paint, half a gallon of back to black and a good polish! Its only done a few hundred miles this year and has been standing the rest of the time which shows on the window rubbers, they've got moss on them in some places! :?

spot of sunday morning TLC and it'll be right as rain. :)

Looks good Chris... I love giving cars a good clean up - would offer to help if you fancy a trek down to Surrey! :D
