Stan 24v 0 Posted January 8, 2006 Just been looking around forums etc to get some insurance dieas when I came across this, and more: http://sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=184079 Anyone else had problems with them? EDIT: Changed the title to make it more appealing from the forum board ;)
Supercharged 2 Posted January 8, 2006 I think Stevemac had a major issue with them and they are no longer the CCGB recomended insurers!
VR6 0 Posted January 8, 2006 Moving to Suppliers. Cheap quotes, mods covered like for like but I've no idea what they're like in the event of a claim.
Stan 24v 0 Posted January 8, 2006 Moving to Suppliers. Feck me youre quick :hitler: :D
VR6 0 Posted January 8, 2006 Took me 3 minutes. That's slow. Unless you ask the missus
Andi 2,147,483,647 Posted January 8, 2006 I was with Adrian Flux for 2 years, as they drastically under-quoted everyone else, but the people you talk to at AF seem rather dense, they love sending letters that seem to take 3 weeks to get to you, they also like 10-page forms to declare your mods, and as the site says - mind the small print. Was fine to keep me legal, but I've heard nothing but bad things when claims are put through. I also agree with the cancelling problem on the SXOC site - its like they don't believe you when you want to leave! I don't do DD or loans for my insurance though - I always pay the year up in full - so they couldn't get any money out of me. After ringing to get my no claims discount, and confirming I was leaving, after about 3 threatening letters (along with my no claims and 'thank you for your custom' letter!) they finally got the idea. Think they need some better letter-monkeys! With Brentacre now. Will gladly undercut AF, allow mods, clued-up, protected no claims, business class 1 insurance for free... s'all good! lukeage 0 Posted January 8, 2006 Must say I am with AF at the moment and it will be getting changed as soon as this years cover is out. There really enthusiastic until you sign and then i have to agree with andi - dense is the word or even not really giving a s**t.
NickVR6 0 Posted January 8, 2006 Took me 3 minutes. That's slow. Unless you ask the missus lol, join the club. I just tell her if she leaves it so long what does she expect. ehum, anyway, this is interesting as i was going to go with them next year. I want to have all my mods covered with an agreed value. who else does that then other than AF??
Stan 24v 0 Posted January 8, 2006 The wonders of the Search! :) Bit slack of me that, sorry  Cheers for the link though
sciroccotune 0 Posted January 9, 2006 they 'forgot' to bill me for 6 months then slapped my with a huge bill. wouldn’t even give me any time to pay it off or money off. I know i should check my bank more closely but i dont. All i wanted was a reasonable length of time to pay it off or a discount but ended up paying it back over the last 6 months a a huge rate! the even admitted it was there fault! but they were the cheapest
Jim 2 Posted January 9, 2006 stevemac had problems with Chris Knott by the way. Their treatment of him was pretty shocking to be honest. No one seems to be watching the practices of insurance companies so they seem to be able to keep getting away with screwing over customers.
blackcat 0 Posted January 9, 2006 oh dear, I'm with Chris Knott
gibber 0 Posted January 9, 2006 I had a couple of problem with them wen I made a claim. But involve the Ombudsman and they are putty in your hand, Ive had problems with most insurance companys when you claimn of them, but involve the obudsman as soon as there is a wiff or a problem and it all goes away! gradeAfailure 0 Posted January 9, 2006 I'm with AF, and I know what you mean about their forms...! Think I'll be switching to Brentacre in July when my insurance is up...
scarlett 0 Posted January 9, 2006 yup - am glad I didnt go with AF, there price was the cheapest but I heard too many stories of probs when making claims... Am planning to check out Brentacre when my current policy is up....
M15 VW 0 Posted January 9, 2006 Ive been with Adrian Flux for two years now. Never had any problems with them. They didnt charge anything for the mods. However ive never had to make a claim with them so not sure what they are like on that point. They have always been good in sorting out any problems though
g60greeny 0 Posted January 9, 2006 i think we should try and arrange some sort of forum discount with brentacre, seems to be a few of us who are with them and a few who are switchin to them,i know g60griffs just got his best quote with all mods claimed from brentacre
g60griff 0 Posted January 9, 2006 yep, defo going with brentacre, cheapest quote by far and the guy that sorts you out with the qoute is a c owner. as long as i dont go over 210bhp at the wheels i can do what ever mods i want for no extra cost. Ice White Socks 0 Posted January 9, 2006 Yes I just renewed mine with Brentacre- dealt with John- its nice to have the personal touch. Adrian Flux must employ monkeys. I had a Corsa SRi once- fitted a K&N and phoned to get it listed on the policy- woman at the other end told me I didn't need it listing- and actually sounded like some mate of a person that worked there who had picked the phone up for a laugh- she didn't have a clue and didn''t give a sh!t Of course when I mentioned it next time I spoke to them, the fella said it HAD to be listed on the policy- I even had to change policies to an underwriter that allowed 'modified' cars! Great idea about forum discount though
Stan 24v 0 Posted January 9, 2006 Forum discount would be good ;) anyone got "Johns" email?
GIXXERUK 0 Posted January 9, 2006 john is very straight , i rang him and told him the quote i had and he said take it ,i couldnt get close to that :-) nice to know
g60griff 0 Posted January 9, 2006 just got a quote through email from a company called greenlight. http://www.greenlightinsurance.com, the quote was about 400 quid cheaper than brentacre so now im having second thoughts. the company says they specialise in moded cars, i was just wondering if anyone has used these in the past.
was8v 0 Posted January 9, 2006 mines insured by greenlight through adrian flux. Brentacres couldn't match the quote (438 for a vr6 2yr ncb 23yo). Requirements were members club and approved immob. I fell off my chair when I was quoted that, and took them up on it. Not had to claim though.
