Which Corrado Engine do you like best?

Alright guys i just regestered and dont have a Corrado but am a big fan.

 

I was wondering which engine do you guys rate the best and why?

 

I quite like the G60's but how reliable are they now?

 

I wanted to put a poll on this topic but cant for some reason.

welcome to the forum mate - you'll find that the "G60 vs. VR6" debate happens on an almost weekly basis, so have a search and see what you find! Personally, I have a VR and love the lazy power of it - but then I've not actually been in a G... Don't write off the 2.0 16V either, as with the KR (1.8 16V) inlet cam fitted they make the same power as a standard G60... ;)

Yeah.. this is a can of worms and has been done to death but might as well let another one get going I guess!

 

At the end of the day everyone is different and the different engines can be good / favoured for different reasons...

 

* Valver engines are liked for their revviness and characteristics in the high revs, with the added bonus that they're generally very reliable and cheap to maintain

 

* G60 is favoured for its relatively inexpensive tuning options and torque, not to mention the distinctive G60 drone

 

* VR6 favoured for the soundtrack and the lazy effortless power of a nearly 3 litre engine!

 

* 8v engine.. the most inexpesive way to own a Corrado I guess! :)

 

I personally like the VR6 the most if only for the noise.. its sublime! :)

There's no definitive answer because opinion will always be divided on the subject. I like my VR6 because it's nice 'n smooth. It realy is down to personal preference though.

I like G's as well, once that charger spools up it's full steam ahead!

Yeah.. they sort of get you like that don't they! Whenever I meet up with 2cc he just sort of automatically hands over his keys to his VR to let me get my fix.. top man! :)

They're just so much more refined, if you play around with a g60 you can get roughly the same power, i'd say there's not alot between my current G and Trigs Vr6, but the power delivery is so much more smooth, not to mention the late interior etc..

I know what you mean by the VR6 engines though as my dad has a Mk4 golf with 2.8 engine. Is very smooth and sounds nice.

After all the money you've spent on your VR6? ..you'd rather have a 16v turbo ? ..shuuuuuurrrrup! :wink: ... I must admit , i've never been in a charged VR6 or a 16v turbo, but i'm fairly certain I know which i'd prefer - even though i'm sure a turbo'd valver would be great , a FI Vr6 must be out of this world.

I prefer the 1.8 16v over all of 'em due to the simplicity.

if you dont wanna mod it get a VR6

if you do then get a G60

if you wanna mod it and be faster than both the above bang for buck term then get a valve.

 

ultimately the VR will make most power but 16vs have been known to make 700hp with 300-400hp fairly easy to acheive.. G60 or 8v whatever you wanna call it will make around 300-400hp but not with the G60 charger.
