stel g60 0 Posted April 23, 2006 dunno mate. never seen that before, on first looks it looks like some sort of alarm sensor but its not fitted in the right place. have you got some sort of buzzer on your car, for lights maybe? might be a tiny speaker. im just guessin thou
veeDuB_Rado 0 Posted April 23, 2006 Got it on mine too, no idea what though...
steve_16v 0 Posted April 23, 2006 Dunno what it is but some of the pics of the instruments in the owners manual show it so it must be standard in some cars
selbekk 0 Posted April 23, 2006 yeah, I think all corrados got em. at least the early ones. I thought it was some kind of tool to change the time on the MFA, but it isn't.
chrishill 0 Posted April 23, 2006 yep, had one of those on my valver and never worked out what it was for!
CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted April 23, 2006 Possibly some sort of diagnostic port?
Riley 0 Posted April 23, 2006 for altering the mileage?
jonny-5 0 Posted April 23, 2006 It's in a 1991 16v by the way. I have no idea my self, not a diagonstic port (k-jet), mileage is the old school type, so not for that. My idea is that could be where the sensor goes for a factory fitted alarm system.
jonny-5 0 Posted April 23, 2006 ETKA wasn't much help either - it lists the black thing as.........a cap!!!
PiercedWinky 0 Posted April 23, 2006 My G60 Cluster has that too. I will go check my late style VR cluster in a bit to see if it has it. I always wondered what it was for.
chaz g60 0 Posted April 23, 2006 I've had it on both of mine? someone gotta know! I thought it was some kind of reset key for the mfa? or a standard imobiliser thing?
PiercedWinky 0 Posted April 23, 2006 My car never had an imobilizer tho... so that kinda rules that out
chaz g60 0 Posted April 23, 2006 i dont think mine got a standard one but mayby it's on all the gauges incase you have it as an option.

Riley 0 Posted April 24, 2006 mileage is the old school type, so not for that. ahh,the dials with digitaly displayed mileage have it too....mmmm. :? ive just sold a set of dials with this too, could have stripped em down and followed the tracks from the contacts
cata 0 Posted April 24, 2006 patiently waiting to hear the answer to this one
Riley 0 Posted April 24, 2006 here it is on the dials with digital mileage reading. how about... you guys running these dials, can you get the second mode on the mfa? where you can read your boost etc?
chrishill 0 Posted April 24, 2006 yup i could, not boost though obviously since it was a valver. Different technique to getting the 2nd mode than you use on a VR but its still there.
Trig 0 Posted April 24, 2006 RW1 will know, just need to wait for him to turn up with the answer ;)
.Rich. 0 Posted April 24, 2006 I thought it was just a little cover over the speaker for the oil warning noise etc? Actually, is there an oil warning noise?
