ziderapple 0 Posted March 13, 2007 Your car always looks so damn clean Rob, I dont think you actually drive it at all, and that mark on the wheel was some freaky buffing accident oo-err... Seriously though, s**t luck mate, sorry.
herisites 0 Posted March 13, 2007 Jim, cheers mate! glad you like them :D yeah no worries i can send you whatever pics you want, PM me your email addy and i will send them. ziderapple, only if i was buffin them with a hammer and chisel!! No the real reason for it was that the wheels looked so tasty i took a bite out of one :lol: It will be sorted this sunday morning and whilst there he's going to show me a few tricks with a machine polisher so will be a good morning i reckon. And then back home to treat mummy's car to a detail :lol:

vwdeviant 0 Posted March 14, 2007 I overtook a forklift driver at work today and he decided to turn a bit too quickly and clipped my freshly refurbed wheel!! Ah the power and speed of those VR's  What a royal pain in the arse Rob. That finish is the nuts IMHO... Glad to hear it's got a happy ending though. What's he going to do with the chunk out the rim? Although you could get him to strip the dishes and have them polished....I mean the car's been the same now for what, 3 days? ;)

herisites 0 Posted March 23, 2007 Ok the wheel is all sorted now guys, you wouldnt even think it happened with the job he has done repairing it  he used a special alloy filler to fill it in then sprayed just that area and blended it in to the rest of the wheel and it looks spot on. He done it a few times as he werent happy at first but im happy with the end result. Anyway i have been toying with the idea of removing the side strips and debadging the rear. I want to smooth the rear bumper to remove the towing eye so dunno if its worth completely debadging it whilst i do that. Or i was thinking of a colour coded corrado badge on the back but thats all. What does everyone think? Remove side strips or keep them on? Debadge it or leave them on or colour coded corrado badge? Cheers :)
G60SC_Stoney 0 Posted March 23, 2007 take it off...take it all off!!!
herisites 0 Posted March 23, 2007 take it off...take it all off!!! Ok then but what shall i do about the car   I have done a quick photoshop of the rear. Only rough and the wheels were old so i darkened them to look similar to mine lol looks crap but gives an idea i suppose
double-6s 0 Posted March 23, 2007 Personally i think they look better with the side strips on. Chunkier somehow. And colour coded rado badge only? Tis a nice motor dude :)
g60greeny 0 Posted March 23, 2007 i much prefer the look of mine without the side strips an the rear badges,i say do it :D
daves16v 1 Posted March 23, 2007 Keep the side strips.
Goldie 2 Posted March 23, 2007 Id say keep em, they suit the lines of the car... As for debadging the rear, go for it, nice touch..
Critical_Mass 10 Posted March 23, 2007 Side strips = protection against disrespectful shoppers. Though i do like them WITHOUT the strips.
herisites 0 Posted March 23, 2007 Ok i think i will keep the side strips as like said they suit the lines of the car and add protection from car doors etc. Plus i am not fully colour coding the car, i am keeping black grill, handles numberplate surrond etc so the side strips will go with these i think. But i am going to debadge the rear, just the corrado and VR6 ones first and then find out about getting the tow eye and vw badge removed and get them done. I think this will make the rear smoother to go with de-wipered arse. Watch this space then for fresh pics :D

herisites 0 Posted March 24, 2007 Side strips = protection against disrespectful shoppers. dont think that will matter  Thats true :lol: Thats only at work though, this morning i went halfords to take advantage of their 3 for 2 offer on car care products :D and i parked in a normal space and when i came out i had to fcuking squeeze in to the car :x
DEL VR6 0 Posted March 24, 2007 I've toyed with the idea of removing them from mine too, but the amount of times they have saved me from extensive paint damage is unreal. Especially as mine is a daily driver as opposed to a show car which rarely gets driven. Dont forget they are bloody long doors, and low cars so you really need to open them to get in and out, so they do protect the car a hell of a lot. Keep 'em on. herisites 0 Posted March 24, 2007 Yeah you are right mate, they are very long doors and like this morning at halfords i had to squeeze myself into the car, good job im skinny really  Mine is a daily driver as well so i will keep the side strips on. Im taking the rear badges off though :D
herisites 0 Posted March 26, 2007 My car is now booked in for a few weeks time to get the arse end smoothed completely 8) He is going to sortout a few rust bubbles first so whilst he has the paint mixed he is filling the vw badge recess, the holes under the corrado badge and then removing the towing eye and spraying the lot :D and with the rear wiper removed she is going to be smoooooth  Cant wait now, he is going to let me help as well so its something i learn. I have to get hold of some donor bumper plastic and some rust treatment for him though. Watch this space 8)

herisites 0 Posted March 26, 2007 Hmm could do, but then they might end up looking tatty if anyone hits them with their door etc so might not bother, plus like said they break up the colour a bit. Although i might colour code my passat door handles
