quicky1980 0 Posted May 4, 2010 thanks again guys for all the positive feedback. Could someone let me know which oil pressure sensors I should use, or do I use both? Part numbers would be great 'cus vagcat still isnt working. Is it a simple swap, ie same wire just different connection? And any idea which wire I use from the fan control box to control the aux water pump?
quicky1980 0 Posted May 13, 2010 been enjoying the car for the last few days and each time it bring me home with a bigger smile, well that was until i ended kurbing the rear alloy :censored: oh well they are a bit tired and could do with a refurb or may look at finding some nice porsche alloys to replace them. I reckon my pedal travel is pretty spot on, the full throttle seems to be giving it just that and i seem to have control of the revs throughout the pedal travel. still need to sort out the exhaust but that will take some time i reckon how did you r32 guys get the rev counter to work im having trouble getting an adaptor, Mark at swict cant help. pete_griff 0 Posted May 13, 2010 surprised Mark can't help you - isn't he still doing a can-bus converter that you could use to run the rev counter? either that or pin 36 of the ecu should run it (iirc - or possibly 46, cant remember 100%!), but that obviously depends on your ecu. i take it yours is a BUB engine code... herisites 0 Posted May 14, 2010 Ring Vince at Stealth as he got my converter from the states I believe! Unlucky about the wheel, I did the same thing the other weel just after putting my nice Rotas on, drove in to a fecking curb and I've buckled one :( so now need to order a single new one which I'm finding hard to get! quicky1980 0 Posted May 22, 2010 fitted some 312mm brakes today, still need to bed them in so am looking forward to seeing how these compare to the 288mm! After speaking to Mark at SWICT he said all I need to do is connect the aux water pump live to the small black and red wire on the fan control relay but for some reason this doesn't seem to be powering the pump (earth to battery was done). How did every one else wire it up? I ended up connecting it to a ign live wire just to have something working. Fixed the spoiler and now it works fine under the manual operation but wont raise or lower as I drive :censored: no idea why this is, checked fuses but all good which makes sense 'cus the switch powers it just fine. Maybe the control box has gone?? Vince at stealth said he may be able to help me with sorting out the rev counter
quicky1980 0 Posted May 25, 2010 been bedding in the 312's and they work perfectly with the engine, both of which seem to get better. Met some guys today who were into their vdubs, great chatting cars and looking at someone else's even though its not quite a local owner. Ive bought myself some new rims, wont say what they are just yet, but am going away from the BBS multi-spoke look for a while. Have a guesse, winner can have a choclate chip muffin. quicky1980 0 Posted May 30, 2010 No one willing to guesse what wheels ive now got on their way? Little hint, the new wheels are real split rims  Anyhoo, got this little pipe to help fit the t-piece for the oil and temp gauge. only a few quid from a local specialist

quicky1980 0 Posted May 31, 2010 Nice Porsche Cup splitties? 8) Leonard, the choc chip muffing is yours! not sure if I told you before or your just a mind reader but Im impressed on how you knew :notworthy: . Yup 17" RH Cups, which are due to arrive soon I hope. Will be stripping them back to allow for a full refurb, not sure what colour to do the centre's yet though Today I finished welding all the unecessary holes on the vr6 front slam panel ready for the strip and rebuild. Hoping to get this and the wheels done before gti inters.

Quite like anthracite grey centres on the RH's not sure what it would look like with the aqua but nice wheels none the less!
quicky1980 0 Posted June 3, 2010 got some rear wheel axles through ebay today, unfortunately they seem to be non abs versions :censored: not sure waht to do with them. either sell on or machine up  anyway, wheels turned up today and I was disappointed. I won them on ebay Germany and were described as 3 piece, used with tyres. But I go 2 piece, tyre less and a deep kerb mark. not pleased. Admittedly the tyres were said to be near worn but would have used them for track days and will refurb all four wheels anyway but this isnt the point. Seems like ebay sellers are as varied as the uk ones. some are great, some are poo! They did look terrible when I got them, but a quick clean brought them up a bit. still lots of work to go into these. Are these RH ZW1's and are they 7" or 8" wide?? What are these worth normally and in restored condition? I just hope I got a good deal and didnt get caught up in the moment. After a quick clean
coullstar 0 Posted June 3, 2010 ZW1's are two piece. The barrel and face are one section, its the rim that alters the width. Measure the distance from the bead to bead and thats the width. They looks to all be 8in, is that what they should be?

They looks to all be 8in, is that what they should be? I did order 8" (marked 8J) but wasn't sure if the rims were swapped over for larger versions. They were described as 3 piece on ebay, but after some reading and research I couldnt find any 3 piece versions of these which matches your note. I was just hoping mine were special lol I reckon 20mm adapators will get the inner edge of these wheels as close as possible to the suspension strut without causing problems. What do you reckon? I want to tuck in as much as possible so that I can change the lips to wider ones. Am thinking of going 8.5" all round or 8.5" front and 9" rear.
coullstar 0 Posted June 4, 2010 8.5in max, personally Id go with 8in all round. I had the 9in rear on mine and the edge of the rim still poked past the arch. Thats with an ET of 22. The lips are fookin expensive as well especially if you go with stainless.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted June 4, 2010 And heavy Some people class the centre cap as the 3rd peice btw

And heavy Some people class the centre cap as the 3rd peice btw I hope thats sarcasm. Otherwise, OMG! :cuckoo: Dont think I will have these wheels done by GTi Inters but I will give it a shot. The bbs lm's will have to do for dc10. Are these really that heavy? They seem light to me but I haven't had much experience with wheels. I was hoping they would weigh less than the lm reps, but now looks unlikely :confused4:
coullstar 0 Posted June 4, 2010 There about the same as most aftermarket wheels I found in terms of weight. Obviosuly the like of BBS, OZ are lighter but I didnt notice a huge difference. Remember my arches have been pulled out so there a bit more room. Standard arches I would stick with 8in, Et30 on back and ET35 front.
quicky1980 0 Posted June 4, 2010 so you dont think et40 is best? Ive seen/heard most use this.
dukest 0 Posted June 5, 2010 i would doubt if an 8in ET40 wheel would clear the suspension.
quicky1980 0 Posted June 5, 2010 Oh no! Really? Whats the best setup then?
Leonard 0 Posted June 5, 2010 Oh no! Really? Whats the best setup then? Dont know if it helps mate, but mine are 17x7.5 ET30 and i have an easy cm room to spare in the arches. I would have thought ET40 8 inch would fit ok but you may have to roll the arches.
