I dont get this.

 

Im with admiral now and ive got a 1990 16v on TPFT. My renewal quote is £430, but the cheapest i can find it anywhere else is over £550. I thought you could normally beat your renewal quote?

 

Also, im 22, and have 3yrs no claims bonus, with no points, and the car has an alarm. Now i think that a quote of over £500 is a little harsh for TPFT cover. Does anyone use any specialist companies to get better quotes?

 

Also, M&S kindly offered me insurance cover for the small price of £4,500, how nice of them :lol:

Depends massively on a whole host of things mate, where you live and the crime rate in your area, for starters.

 

I'm 25 with 3yrs NCB and the same car and I pay £500 Fully Comp with a Toad immob (in Oxford, which isn't exactly the ghetto or a crime hot spot) which is prob about £400 TPFT so I think your price is really quite good!

 

But yes, I think a lot of people have found that specialist companies are much better than standard companies esp if you're gonna do mods too. HIC, Flux, Brenacre, and Chris Knott all spring to mind.

HIC were the cheapest for me, by a good margin. I'm 22 also. adrian flux were the 2nd cheapest.

yeah brentacre or HIC, dont really like flux anymore, for various reasons, including putting my corrado G60 down as a reliant robin :censored:

I used to be a Flux customer but in recent years i've been with Brentacre. I have greater confidence in them fighting your corner in the event of a claim and the way they handle modifications is very simple. The fact they know what a Corrado is and are nice people to talk to is a bonus aswell 8)

Mmm, don't rate Brentacre that highly, been with them last year on both mk2s and they just didn't seem that bothered, very slow dealing with requests unfortunately in my experience.

I had a phone call from a broker today, said they're nice cars and you dont see them about anymore, but then he said to me "dont you wish you'd bought a G60 instead though" cheeky bastid!

 

He also said he'd ring me back if he could beat my £420-£430 renewal quote. Didnt call back.

As said, try chris knott above, I used them for 5 years and went elsewhere this year as the quote i got was a fair bit cheaper however i was deceived slightly by my current company so am most definatley going to renew again with chris knott.

Best quote so far is with Brentacre.

 

£480 for full 12 month policy, any mods allowed without increase in price, apart from performance mods, £1000 stereo cover.

 

Just waiting for a call from Chris Knott on Monday which will be the deciding factor. My savings account isn't looking too healthy though so i think i'll be paying around 50% deposit then the rest monthly

Just renewed with HIC. Last year, my insurance with Admiral was £1200 :eek:, but my new price is £835

erm when i got my corrado i ammended a policy started a few months earlier when i was 20... went up to what would have been 2.5k a year! lol, that was license for 3 years but an accident on my record from the previous year and no no claims, this year £1100... up for renewal in a months time so i'll be using the names suggested here, cheers!
